  1. Cleveland on their way to a win tonight. Thus 5 games back. If Cleveland finishes 11-12, the Twins would have to go 16-7 just to tie. LOL. Please, no chance, none whatsoever. My guess is Cleveland finishes 13-10 and the Twins 9-14, thus we end up 9 games back.
  2. Never say never, but regarding Buxton, hightly doubtful. Next year might be the final straw to start a rebuild if it's anything like the last two season.
  3. But, Buxton has been playing hurt/injured, and is not the same player that we have seen when healthy. And, I wouldn't be surprised to not see him play again this season.
  4. That was a bit tongue and cheek. I was posting more and the end of last year, and there were plenty of posters around.
  5. It doesn't matter how poorly the evil empire has been playing, the Twins will be the cure to their ailments
  6. Let's hope they can start scoring runs, and soon.
  7. I was all in when he signed, but I am now not sure he is worth 35 million per year. I would think the Twins could use that money(and after the Sano buyout) to fill some other holes. It leaves a hole at SS, but frankly he hasn't earned that money in my book this season.
  8. Yes, but neither is good enough at this point. We are now 3 games back, and we keep losing ground. At the point when he returns it could very well be 5 or 6 games out.
  9. And again, by Sept 8, they could be out of it for all practical matters.. Mathematically out of it means nothing. 6 games out with 12-15 left is out of it in my book.
  10. Considering the games left against teams as good or better than the Twins, I think Buxton, Correa, and Polanco will need to play like all stars. We cannot beat good teams unless they do.
  11. I frankly don't care either way if he plays at this point. He is on the 10 day IL right now, and who knows how long it will actually be before he returns(based on his history). I expect him to play again this season. if the FO determines he is healthy enough. All I'm saying is it won't matter. He has not been able to carry this team at any point this season, and he won't save this season unless he is firing on all cylinders. Even then, it probably won't be enough.
  12. Buxton has been playing throughout the last 80 games, but things are still moving in the wrong direction. At this point he is not healthy enough to carry this team. Let him play, but at the end of Sept it probably won't matter.
  13. I think the difference is perspective. You are hoping the team starts playing better than they have the last 80 games. Those guys coming back better get back soon, and better contribute ALOT from the moment they get back, or they could be much farther behind by Sept 8. They are only 2 games back, but they are moving in the wrong direction. They are not getting better, they are getting worse, game by game.
  14. No one is giving up, we are just looking at the make up of the team and being realistic. The 2009 and 2010 teams would destroy the team taking the field tonight.
  15. All I'm saying is I have seen nothing the past 80 games that makes me believe this team has anything left. If the team was healthy and guys performing, it would be different. This team the way it is will not be good enough to have any real success against any of the teams listed above. Those teams are just flat out better than the Twins in their current state. And weather the team agrees with my sentiment won't make them play any better. You may have a different assessment, but they are based on fact, not hope or lack there of.
  16. Yeah, as I stated in another thread, they might not be in contention by Sept 8. Too many injuries and under performance by others.
  17. I have a feeling when we get to those games against the Sox and Cle at the end of the season we will be more than 2 games back. And, unless this team shows us something they have not since, early June, there is no point in pushing Buxton. If we get swept by Houston this team will be on a 35-45 stretch. Which is half a season worth of games. Frankly I think the goose will be cooked by the end of the Yankee series.
  18. Injuries, poor play, and let's face it Terry Francona vs Rocco. All other things being equal, who would you want running the the team? I would say it's more like 80-20.
  19. Not sure how much better this team is than either KC or Texas at this point. Just look at the results the last 71 games.
  20. just hoping there isn't a total collapse, but that's where this is headed, considering everything. Time for some college football.
