  1. Do not know how to link but here you go; Kekstcnc.com It is the covid-19 opinion tracker edition 4 - this particular opinion statistic is found on page 24 Kekst is a very reputable business polling firm, primarily used to help business. You will find this interesting.
  2. There were 200 cases yesterday in my State of over 3M citizens - there were 12 cases yesterday in my County of over 150K citizens. The level of fear and angst in the media - pounding and pounding us into submission makes me think there is an election this fall? Interesting, those of us following the rules are being told to follow more rules, and those of us creating havoc and riots are being allowed create more havoc and riots. A study came out today and it says a majority of American citizens believe that 9% of us have died due to coronavirus. CNN would call that a success. Great Britain media fell a little short - UK citizens think 7% of them have died. I am not, nor is anyone else here suggesting this virus isn't what it is. I am suggesting that politico's and there accomplices in the media are driving this world is coming to an end narrative for electioneering purposes.
  3. I'll call out Jorge Polanco!! The Heart & Soul of this team in my opinion. Loved the pregame the other day on the Buxton/Kepler friendship - the nucleus of this team goes back to when they were all 16 yr old kids. What an advantage we have there! Think of the bond that is formed at such a young age, and then for all of them to come to prominence at the same time; Bux/Kep/Sano/Jorge/Rosy/Garv/Rogers/Duffy/May/Berrios - which other team has so many key players who all grew up together? This is our secret sauce.
  4. I saw Beatlemania in 1991. They were fantastic!
  5. Agreed. Too short of a season to "try" someone out. This won't be the best year for breakout rookies. If Arraez goes down, Gonzalez will be the first man up at 2B.
  6. 38 of 3,185 positive is honestly much better than I thought it would be. I am excited for some baseball and am looking for some hope. This is much better news than it could have been. I am resisting getting to fired up and fear we get going, and then have to stop. These initial tests are encouraging.
  7. I'm guessing no significant injuries to position players, making the prospect star of 2020 either Duran or Alcala. Outside gamble on Colina. I'm thinking before it is all said and done, we'll see a flame-throwing right-handed prospect make his mark out of the bullpen.
  8. Will he wear the glove for the road games is the question?
  9. Removing a statue does not remove history yes, but you've hit the nail on the head when it comes to the militant radical left in this Country. They do indeed intend to remove history and re-write it to fit their current agenda. No Country on earth has done more to make amends for its historical sin than the USA. The militant left will never let us off the hook, and must re-write history because the political racist force in this Country back in the day were all democrats. When do all the Robert C Byrd statues come down? Maybe someone should have asked Rod about the statue? If he wanted it down, take it down. Mr. Carew was my childhood hero, and I'll take his word for it on Calvin.
  10. 5 Phillies just tested positive along with 3 staff in Clearwater. I'm thinking it is over.
  11. What does Pineda's suspension look like in a 65 game season? With our bullpen, and with Hill healthy, we may have as good a chance as anyone - and maybe having Pineda for most of these games? I like our chances.
  12. The government shut all of our businesses down. As the government has begun to greenlight openings, some are opened, some still not. This decision is made by each business owner, not the employees. I am not reopening my business if I know before I start that I will lose money. What is the point? My profit is my paycheck. Do you work for free? I do understand baseball owners are not me, and are not small business, but I do believe principles are principles. Your side of the argument - Blake Snell's side of the argument is too adversarial and divisive using the class warfare language of the day, running down the owners character and motives. This is not good faith negotiation on the part of the players, and has played a large role in where we are at today.
  13. The owners sent the letter because of coronavirus and the liability - no different than the Trump rally attendees on Saturday. It is a free Country - still - Players can play if they sign, or don't play. My employees can come to work - or not - I can go to the Trump rally - or not. And this business about the value of major league teams, and its relation to profits. That line of thinking is just dumb. I am never selling my business. I have sons, and grandchildren. It is just disingenuous to conflate annual profitability to value - I will never see the value I've created. I'm not selling. So because I could receive a future hypothetical windfall - I shouldn't care about this years profits? Baseball is not a non-profit charitable endeavor. Now I will agree that it is very stupid to make your customers angry. I am a baseball customer and I am angry about this. I think the baseball owner should fear angering their customers, and I do think the owners are making a mistake here.
  14. I too miss baseball. Neither side seems willing to take it in the shorts for the fans. It is a shame they both can't agree the game itself is bigger than this years dollars, and get back on the field for the sake of the game.
  15. Manfred is talking big, but his eyes are bigger than his stomach. If this comes down to Manfred unilaterally imposing a deal, the game blows up. I wish he would stop saying this. I would think each teams leaders would "encourage" their respective 40 man teammates to stay home. Then what? I don't want to watch a shortened season with everyone's A ball players - which would lead to nothing but trouble for next year and the year after. Sad, but no season this year is better than no season for the next 2 years. This needs to get hammered out between the 2 parties. Manfred is not trusted by the players.
  16. There is no question this has exposed something deeply wrong in this police department. There were multiple upon multiple incidents prior with him - and for the other cops to stand still and silent - big personnel problems in this police force. There is no question this has exposed the anarchists and race hustlers, who are using this awful police brutality incident to further their political agenda. It is racism - and it is politics. And it all belongs somewhere else outside this forum in my opinion. And I'll give Max the benefit of the doubt, as I'm sure Byron will.
  17. Sad to say, but exactly this. Owners have 100% of the leverage. Players will cave or take their ball and go home. Their representation had better figure this out. Not sure they have yet?
  18. Like it or not, it is the owners with all the leverage. Player careers are finite - owners careers exist to the grave. Players generally make 100% of their earnings playing the game - owners generally have other business interests to feed themselves. Comparing the business of baseball with other business in America isn't apples to apples in any way. If I don't pay my managers and my staff proper competitive wages, they will end up at my competitor. I believe players will need to do the caving here and they should hurry up. No 2020 season hurts the individual players far more than the owners. No service time and depressed wages in winter free agency - too much supply, and not enough demand will dominate the off season. It is a mess and we shouldn't expect the owners to be kind and gracious. They are the side willing to play hardball and walk away. Let me also go on record as being disgusted by what I've just written. But I believe this to be our reality. I am still keeping my Hulu account just in case, but I am losing hope.
  19. I am not sure why you or anyone would wish market forces to go away? And in this new economic theory you desire - which person among us is qualified, and noble enough to be the decider of this new system? You very assuredly suggest work or don't eat should be passe by now - but this is not the way human kind was built to be. Many passages in Proverbs - Thessalonians 3 - over 40 different Bible verses discuss the foundational system of work, as it relates to supplying our basic needs such as food. Our world gets off track when these Bible principles are not followed by the commands of charity, and of selflessness. Free market principles, combined with nobility is an unstoppable force. Unfortunately for all of us, you cannot legislate morality. I wish we could.
  20. It is fun to re-boot the mind and contemplate a baseball season. I love our chances and I love our team. I am bullish on all the above mentioned. Garver and Arraez maybe regress, but just a little - I am in the "Rosario will be a monster" camp - I love Kepler's chances to continue improvement. The veteran leadership on this club combined with the continuity of the young core that has been together since they were teenagers, a shortened season my be very much in our favor. Start hot - Stay hot - no batting slumps and competent pitching. This season will be a sprint. Thanks Seth
  21. I doubt you'll see any opt-outs, and free agents this winter will be greatly disadvantaged due to the lack of owner revenues in 2020 and potential collective bargaining trouble in 2022. Hindsight is easy but holy cow did Jeter fleece the Yanks - Marlins escaped that one. Yankees wish he'd opt out no doubt.
  22. Agreed, but that is the owners plan according to today's report they are submitting to the White House and to the Players association. It would be a sad day if it is money that stops the season rather than the virus.
  23. If the plan becomes an 82 game regular season, and they keep it within the current divisions, then I think it sets up a legit season. Add 1 wild card to each league, with the 2 best records in each league getting 1st round byes to somewhat compensate for the 1/2 season - and I think you get virtually the same teams making the playoffs, as would have otherwise. As to player compensation - Diehardtwinsfan has it for 2020 - revenue sharing. MLB should set the total salaries number as a percent of revenue, just like the NBA - once the percentage is set - then each team can give each player their percentage of the teams percentage.
  24. This puts us in the hardest division if they go with the No league's, 3 divisions plan. I am counting 7 of your top 15 including the Twins in the Midwest division. Eastern easiest at only 3 of your teams - leaving 5 in the West. I don't like that plan if you've got the 15 correct.
  25. 2 words - Ricky Nolasco. I still dislike him greatly.
