  1. I agree. No matter how they want to present this. 2 teams did pass on deals that were double the years the Twins were offering. So did they get buyers remorse? I doubt it. The Giants and Mets both saw something they didn't like regarding the ankle. And then the foot issue. I know they're 2 separate things but can Twins now expect the same thing for the next 5 years? I hope not.
  2. Buxton and the knee topic is at 6 years and counting. That's definitive.
  3. A lot of talk about Martin and saw an article regarding Kiermaier. Personally I think Michael Helman would be a great option. But I doubt the Twins go in that direction. He's got some speed and some pop in his bat. I think Castro can play out there but he's not a CFer. Stevenson showed good defense but no offense in his time up.
  4. Sonnys a bulldog. What happens when bulldogs run into Rottweilers. They become play toys. All these stats which are being used. I don't get. So based on his 2023 season his value was 42 million. Really? When King Felix had those marginal win loss records he was dominant. In no way was Gray's season remotely close to Cole. And that's where the value comparison comes from. More than 50% of his starts were losses. He gave a solid 5 innings and then withered. If Rocco would have let him go longer those numbers would have gone up substantially. Offer him the 1 year 20.3 and give him some nice parting gifts for his service. 👋
  5. Can someone explain the rationality of a bullpen game in game 4 of the WS. If tomorrow was an off day I can understand it. But to use 6 or 7 arms with game 5 tomorrow. Is the hope you get 7 innings out of your starter tomorrow. I thought Texas might be in trouble losing Garcia and Scherzer. Tonight it looks like the D-Backs are done. Have fun Chief 👍
  6. Even with the Rangers winning tonight. Scherzer and Garcia injuries, if serious will affect the rest of the series
  7. Gotcha. Well there's always doomsdayers. So I'll just say that's how I look at him.
  8. No one is looking at his 6 playoff games. His stats dropped off dramatically at years end. And even worse in the playoffs. I think 8 K's and 0-13 just compounds it. Its just pointing out that he may not be the answer. Hopefully he works on those and has an even better 2024
  9. All baseball, all the time. For excitement the 1st game delivered. O hope it goes 7 with every game close. We'll see. Rangers because they're AL.
  10. I watched that draft and you're right. No one knew who he was. My Really was meant do you really think the Rangers would entertain a trade for Sabato and giving up Carter. The jury is still out on Carter. He's played a little over a month. He doesn't hit lefties well so far. And he has some speed but I've seen him take some adventurous routes in the OF
  11. The color scheme, okay. Different stars. The center spike on Washington's W represents the Washington Monument and is symmetrical. Invert either letter and they're totally different. But sure. Why not?
  12. Julien is atrocious at 2nd. That .991 fielding % is a joke. Very generous official scoring. There was 1 game where he had 3 errors and was not given 1. He's terrible at turning the double play. He has some range but his footwork is not good. Can he get better? I sure hope so. But the old let's look at his stats does not tell the whole story. If the Twins think he's the answer I don't believe he'd be working out at 1st. Where he's not much better. I forget how many games he played there. ( not many ) but it wasn't pretty.
  13. Sano looks like Keith Hernandez at 1st base
  14. To put it in the proper context. The original post was about the Twins abysmal hitting in the playoffs. But the poster said everyone except Lewis. I was just pointing out Lewis numbers and questioning why he was exempted. Especially since Correa hit .400 I wasn't making an assessment on Lewis and his abilities. Just stated that outside of game 1 vs Toronto he didn't fare too well.
  15. So. Subtract game 1 vs Toronto and show me the numbers. I gave him credit for that. After that he was 3-19 for .152 avg. Knocks his obp down and his slugging and OPS. Rose colored glasses.
  16. I don't believe a Houston reporter would be biased towards the Rangers. As I watched it seemed like 15-20 min. I know Baker had enough time sitting in the dugout to order a grilled cheese sandwich and a cup of coffee. And if this happened during a Twins game, this would be Armageddon like. And the ML rule for ejection states person ejected should immediately leave. If it wasn't an issue then why was Bochy upset about it.
  17. The article I read said it was a 25 minute stoppage. And that was from a Houston reporter
  18. You're right. But if they went on a hitting spree.theyd most likely have scored more runs.
  19. Last night's Astros vs Rangers game was turned upside down by 1 swing of the bat. By everyone's least favorite Astro. Jose Altuve. And I suggest that there was some serious gamesmanship on the part of Dusty Baker that shouldn't have been allowed. After the hbp on Garcia. Baker was ejected along with Abreu and Garcia. But Baker would not leave the dugout. It was a good 15 to 20 minutes before play resumes. I believe that delay had an effect on LeClerc the Rangers closer. Why was Baker allowed to drag it out so long? He knew exactly what he was doing and yet the umpires allowed it. Talk about bad umpiring with balls and strikes. That was a decision which very well could end the Rangers season.
  20. Lewis had 1 good game. Game 1 vs Toronto. The other 5 games he was 3-19. So what qualifies as absysmal? All told he was 5-22. That's not quite mendoza but it's not real good.
  21. Hmmm. A lot to digest here. The A's aren't the only team like this. And it's not brave to say something after the fact. Curt Flood was brave. He took on the whole good old boys club in his prime. And today's players benefit from it.
  22. If Twins mgmt thinks Baldelli is a good manager. They should extend his contract and give him a raise. Wait! Didn't they all ready do that? The FO thinks he's good. That's good enough for me.
