  1. Buxton is the only one who played that right. He was throwing to 2nd base but no one was home (Correa) Polanco I believe was out in right center as the cut off man. If that throw is to 3rd it was 75' short. It's totally irrelevant anyhow because the baserunners were so far past the point of no return.
  2. I'm not going to do any data searching, but I'd be willing to bet that arguably the 4 or 5 best teams in MLB this year, Astroles, the evil empire, Dodgers, Mets, and I'll just say Hotlanta starters go longer than the rest of the league. Thereby less taxing on their bullpen. If team A is averaging 6.1 per outing and team B is averaging 5 2 per outing. Nor a huge difference, right? That equates to 108 extra innings per year out of the bullpen. And if that team isn't solid top to bottom then pitchers that arent capable are exposed to high leverage situations.
  3. I don't like the premise of "the dreaded 3rd time through the order". It's basically saying that the hitter has the pitcher all figured out or that hes out of gas. So since there's a book on practically every hitter ie pitch to hitters weakness they're saying by the 3rd time pitchers can't do that. I call bull poop. It's more of a mental thing. Pitchers know that he's coming out at the first sign of trouble. The one thing the "old timers" say that is still a recognized truth is baseball is a mental game. If a pitcher is tired he is more apt to miss his spots but if a pitcher goes out to the mound knowing that he's coming out after a walk hbp error Basehit whatever then why bother. And I know it's rarely a fatigue thing. Verlander doesn't have the same velocity he used to, but he still pitches the same way. Easy 90-92 first time thru, 92-94 the second time 95+ the third time and he mixes things up more. Kershaw the same. These guys know they're past physical prime but they somehow are able to navigate said 3rd time. Stop babying them.
  4. He can't be the greatest CF on the planet. If he'd have run back to the infield and tagged both runners out for an unassisted triple play, then I'd concur.
  5. Strike 3. But how does Anderson just give up on that last pitch. I believe the whitesox are done. Maybe the Twins could get Hendricks outta there.
  6. The White Sox just look so lethargic. I bet the Sox fans are twice as brutal on Tony Larussa as Twins fans are about Baldelli
  7. Top Ten hitter in baseball? He's the 3rd best hitter on the Twins. So the Twins have 3 of the best hitters in all of baseball? They should win 120 games with a lineup like that
  8. And... We're talking defense. And wasn't it may when Buxton was 2 for 35
  9. Trout is no Buxton . In fact Buxton 2022 defensively isn't Buxton
  10. OK Brian Kenny. That's just so easy to say and it has no validity. Just like wins for a starting pitcher is a useless stat
  11. 4 innings and 90 pitches per outing doesn't equate to pitcher of the month. In fact I would go the exact opposite and say that Archer and his short starts are one of the biggest reasons for taxing the bullpen. What happened to "slowly stretching his starts" due to his missing spring training?
  12. Says you. Your earlier statement about Baltimore being a better team. Better bullpen maybe. But that's questionable too. And all the young guys you question contributed to this win too. Selective vision too. When one of your boys makes a error, crickets. When one of the young guys does it they need to be demoted asap. Cant learn on the job in the majors. Gotta learn in the minors
  13. The TD GMs are all for trading Sano to this club or that club for this guy or that guy. So if you really were a GM what would you give up to acquire him. NOTHING! If he is traded he'll be a toss in part of a larger deal.
  14. Oh. I'll just bet there's 8 people in all of Minnesota who can't wait to go see Sano play in St.Paul. His wife and children and his parents. Thatll be a tough ticket to buy for sure
  15. Yeah. At least for the next 16 hours or so
  16. OK. I went and did more research. So the multi inning save kings seem to be Gossage, Fingers, and Eckersly. Rivera had his share as did Wettland before him. Josh Hader had numerous multi inning saves in 2019 but for the most part are rare these days. I really did think Chapman had more. Especially his Cincinnati years
  17. Chapman has been a 2 inning closer his whole career. So was Riviera. Not saying they always got 2 innining save but were called on to do it many times.
  18. Nah. More useful as trade chips. You can put anyone in the bullpen and be successful
  19. How were Twins runs scored vs how were Clevelands. Im talking about THIS game
  20. Look. It's not on the offense and it's not Rocco. This is a 3-0 shutout. Bieber stifles the Twins a lot. These 4 inning starts are the problem. It's like a bridge too far
