  1. Hicks is living off a .417 BABIP against LHP. That, is completely unsustainable. Once those numbers decline, his .634 OPS against RHP will carry a lot more weight. Plus, Buxton is by far a better defender. I'll take Buxton right now, all day long.
  2. Kepler has already been there twice, so he is ineligible.
  3. I like that list. There are always surprises, so it will be fun to see who gets chosen.
  4. This isn't a single party problem, this is both partys' problem. It's easy to blame and point fingers, everybody is good at that. Problem is, that doesn't solve anything. If anyone thinks our current America is the result of the last 8 years of policies.... they haven't been paying attention. This isn't a single party problem, it is our entire political structure. I'd love for a politician to be elected for their solutions instead of their party. If live for a politician to make decisions for themselves instead of their party. The cracks are showing.
  5. I don't see how you got a pay cut, and why that is acceptable? Do you really think it's ok that businesses are free to pay people less then what is necessary to live without government assistance? If there weren't government programs.... people would just die, and I doubt corporations would care to raise pay. I used to be a big proponent of capitalism and the ideology of the old trickle down effect. I don't believe in that fantasy anymore. If the growing wealth discrepancy has shown anything, this current system doesn't work. You probably think this is the greatest country in the world. Well it's not, and not even close. We still have the largest economy and military, but there are plenty of countries which have a better standard of living. The arrogance of Americans forces us to resist change, even though we continue to fall behind other countries in the first world.
  6. Because it's against the law and the fines aren't worth it to hire illegals. I don't think these costs are going to be put on consumers as much as you do. Again, this will hurt corporations harder than anyone, and I'm fine with that. Small businesses will benefit from this. Most successful small businesses already pay a decent wage in order to keep talent. A few thousand more in labor can be offset by small price increases. In 2012 46 million people were considered poor, and 10 million of them were working poor (27 weeks in work force). Most of the poor do not work. That is a lot of people struggling to live. Let's look at what 7 dollars an hour would do. 7 x 40 is 280 per week. 280 x 52 is 1960 per year. 1960 x 10 million is 19.6 billion per year. That, is a dramatic hit to the economy. I don't think anyone knows what that would do.
  7. I don't see how this would impact small businesses more than corporations. Corporations are the ones that employ thousands of minimum employees per company. Wage increases for small businesses will impact them, but minor price increases would result counter that. I never thought about minimum wage in this might Brock. I feel enlightened about it. Why do we allow these businesses to pad their pocketbook while the taxpayers help their employees survive? That notion is completely asinine. Why do people continue to stick up for the people that care nothing about them?
  8. Burdi and walker for sure I think. Maybe Meyer.
  9. I'd also say it is premature. Until he can hit rhp.... He is nothing more than a fourth of. His splits are alarming, not just bad. Have been that way since he turned pro. Perhaps molitor has taken notice and is putting him in a position to succeed? Something gardy continuously overlooked. Don't get me wrong, I'm encouraged by his season. Once he stops switch hitting maybe we'll see some better results. I'm pretty confident that eventually he will drop it again.
  10. It is. When the plan for Stewart was announced about not allowing him to throw the slider much I was a huge advocate. I'm still a huge advocate. Fastball command is more important than anything else. Plus, sliders are hard on young men's arms. Letting him develop physically before pounding sliders seems like a great idea to me. Again, this is all assuming they are restricting the amount of sliders thrown. This was confirmed last season early, but not much has been divulged this season about it. Other than the vague "we're not weird about kohl Stewart."
  11. Like Brock pointed out, we are all guessing at box scores. Being concerned about his K rate is legitimate. I'm not even sure if its about being raw. With all the arm injuries prevalent, the Twins said they were taking a different approach with Stewart. Focusing on FB placement and mechanics. Obviously, they forgot to mention they were turning him into a sinkerball pitcher (WTF!). However, I really don't think a 19 or 20 yo needs to rely on a slider to strike people out. His body is still developing, and minor league numbers don't mean ****. I don't know his pitch selection percentages, but I'm just hoping they are focusing and other things right now. Again, he has only allowed 1 HR the entire year and has a great GB%. Yeah, 1 HR.
  12. I'm advocating for Duffey, but that would be short rest. If Bowden gets the start.... Time to riot. Riots everywhere. And poop. Poop all over the stadium. That is how you prove a point.
  13. Damn, not the type of comment you like to read; but also not surprising. His results lately have been good. There are plenty of guys that excel despite skepticism from scouts. I'm not creating a 'stick a fork in him' thread because scouts don't view him as a top of the rotation guy anymore.
  14. Man.... Joba was do hyped back in the day. Reminds me of lastings milledge, and Fernando Martinez. Such hype, and absolutely no results. These guys were all rumored in the Santana trade saga. Turns out, twins received the best player of the bunch, just traded him too early.
  15. Stewart with another nice start. I really think the trade deadline start had him rattled. Besides that start he's looked really good lately. The k rate is creeping up and he continues to not give up xbh. With a gb ratio like his, I think his results are only going to get better the higher he goes.
  16. Great start for him tonight too.
  17. It's really too bad. He could have seriously helped this punchless lineup. I hope he can come back stronger than ever.
  18. Surgery? It was a meniscus he had scoped. For some reason, it took months to recover....
  19. Hopefully this is ABW trying to adjust. He needs to. I don't mind him striking out, but 30+% is too high to be a successful MLB player.
  20. Isn't it clear by now that should happen regardless?
  21. I like the outside the box thinking. That would be the best option for the Twins to take, but I highly doubt they will. The downgrade from Dozier to Polanco would be pretty steep in 2016 I think. By 2018, that gap will be a whole lot closer. I still think the Twins are trying to get him to stick at SS though.
  22. That isn't logic, that is an assumption.
  23. I completely agree with him being the best chance. That is the exact comment that I made. I truly believe he would crush Clinton. I almost feel some parallels to him and JFK. I'm not sure if that is taking it too far, but we will see how this develops.
  24. Logically? No, it isn't "logically." Mauer was valuable behind the plate. When that decision was made, his value as a player plummeted considerably. Instead of being, at his worst (while catching), an above average player, he instantly became a replacement level player. That isn't logical to me, that is (was) stupid. Now, the Twins have a terrible 1b and terrible C. Great decision.
  25. This is a topic that is going to dominate Minnesota sports for the next 3 years. Regardless of what the Twins choose to do, the decision will be under a microscope. Mauer hasn't done anything the last 2 seasons to suggest he will turn it around. That doesn't mean he can't, there is just no evidence of it. I do fully expect Plouffe to be traded and Mauer to play 1b in 2016. However, I don't think he will have an unlimited leash next season. If Kepler continues to hit like he has for the past year+, it will be difficult for the Twins not to promote him. There is also the development of Hicks and Rosario. Not mention Arcia and Vargas would almost certainly put up more than a 700 OPS.
