  1. I doubt the twins have to worry about him getting snatched yet. Stories like his are why minor league ball is so fun to follow. It will be pretty cool if he makes it. This isn't like sliding from short to third, it is a major change. I'm pulling for him.
  2. I don't think it was may and duffey everyone wanted starts taken from.
  3. What a terrible situation. Any thoughts on this?
  4. Nice season for him. He hit a bad patch, but has finished strong. Hopefully next season he can build on the success he had. Gibson is going to be a solid member of the rotation for years to come.
  5. Felix Jorge is my favorite under the radar guy. What was the difference this season compared to last? What does he need to do in Fort Meyers next year to be successful.?
  6. That is a fantastic proof of irrationality. I did it in my senior year of college.
  7. This is pretty exciting stuff. I'm not sure what type of organism would live in these conditions, but it seems there could be some. On earth there are things that live in pretty hostile environments. While salty water is better than no water, it will be interesting to see what they find. When we find a planet with actual standing liquid water, that is where life will undoubtedly be.
  8. Leidner did play well today. Hopefully he can continue. I was disheartened by the defense. Up front they get no pressure and can't plug holes. Next weekend is going to be tough, the d and o line needs to play better. How about that Brooks kid? I like the tandem of him and Smith. Brooks reminds me of Toby Gearhart.
  9. Hey Mike, I'm still waiting for an argument against raising minimum wage. I really want to hear you out on this, not being an ass. I've recently moved away from the conservative point if view on trickle down economics, because, well people are inherently greedy. I also don't believe all people that work these jobs are lazy, or don't want better jobs. Anyway, just looking for the grounds of your opinion.
  10. I'm no economics professor, but why are you so against raising minimum wage? Isn't China a good enough example of what a lack of minimum wage will do? Large companies don't care about the lowest workers, they care about profits. Look at Walmart. They are a gigantic company based on keeping a majority of worker wages low, a majority part time to avoid having to pay benefits, and a product based on sweat shops in China. I avoid Walmart as much as possible because of this.
  11. If leidner plays poorly again, he better catch some pine. You can't just keep throwing him out there when it is so obvious to everyone he is hurting the team.
  12. What a catastrophe that May is being banished to the bullpen. I seriously don't care to make assumptions about what the Twins will do with their starting rotation. The futility has become unbearable for me. It is finally nice to have some talent, just a shame that my faith in the decision makers is so low.
  13. Short answer: no. Long answer: no.
  14. Watched the game last night. Worst offensive game I've seen in my life. Play calling didn't even give them a chance. Unbelievable. The box was stacked the whole game, yet there was no attempt to burn them. Watching the other big ten teams.... Its going to be tough to get 8 wins I think.
  15. I've been pretty consistent about keeping the faith. I'm over it. Twins are not making the playoffs this year. The pitching staff is in shambles.
  16. This sounds like it has already happened to you once....
  17. They have gone 29-16 since August 1st. When they traded for Hamels I thought the were crazy. He hasn't even been that good for them either. In the playoffs though, he could be a big factor.
  18. I'd rather nolasco pitch than pelfrey or milone.
  19. You can give a summary, with a few quotes thrown in if you want. Just like worrying a paper, there is a line where it becomes plagiarized. I think the article is most likely confirming what many have said all season: the twins are not using the best 5 starting pitchers in the organization. It's been pretty clear all along, and why many have finally turned on terry Ryan. I'd like to see some of the evidence presented.
  20. I have no (good) ideas that don't include Berrios.
  21. I forgot to say bazinga again.
  22. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/01/max-scherzer-james-shields-free-agent-pitchers-contracts-100-million-mlb While this is an incomplete article, it highlights some issues. First, signing pitchers to big contacts after they are 30 is a bad idea in most cases. Second, the biggest risk is injury. An example of a preventable injury is santana with the mets. He was abused for a season, then got hurt the next. You have to take care of your assets.
  23. Cal ripken never needed a day off. I don't think it is that easy. It's more about him not being able to adjust than anything else. I'm sure Parker is already stealing the thunder about him as we speak.
  24. I'm in the ace boat. By far better use of money. When you pay for mediocrity you take a risk. Those players fluctuate year to year like Hughes has. Do this same thing for last year and he is a steal, average the two together and his contract looks OK.
  25. No kohl Stewart?
