  1. I can't wait for the trade Mauer threads if he continues this production.
  2. I'm pretty sure I'm cutting cable this Spring/Summer. I need to ensure I can get local channels with an antenna first, but the Twins were (one of) the reason(s) I got it in the first place. By the time they are watchable again I hope to be able to stream games. *I have 4 young kids so before anyone challenges my fandom be warned.
  3. In order for a third party to really make a difference it would have to be someone that is well liked by independent voters. Not a Mitt Romney or even Bernie Sanders. Has to be someone with moxy and a history of success in politics, without ties to either party. I hope it happens, but doubt it will.
  4. I almost clicked report... then decided to continue to pour it on. I doubt Prince himself would want to be considered a role model. He lived his life his own way and created a path to acceptance for people that never existed. He broke stereotype for what a "man" was supposed to be while becoming an icon. Belittling him if he did overdose just shows ignorance about what addiction really is. Opinions like this are why the war on drugs in American has been a colossal waste of billions. Addicts need help, not criticism and told-you-so's. I don't care what Prince died of. I wasn't even a huge fan (he was a little before my time). I'm thankful about what he gave our society in his life. The tributes to him are evidence that he was well loved throughout the nation.
  5. Listening to Ted Cruz denounce global warming with npr was a joke this winter. My career has been built on green energy. So, to say I'm passionate about it might be a slightly weak.
  6. Bush stayed at the same as me in December. Funny to think he was considered a top candidate back then. He also had a huge staff with him.
  7. I think you have it wrong about it only being an issue because Sanders lost. It is an issue because a) a large number of independent voters were not able to vote Sanders does very well with independents and it hurt his numbers c) the system is set up to exclude people. With a 2 party system, if people aren't free to vote their candidate into the final pool it no longer sounds Democratic to me. More people are paying attention to this primary cycle than in years past. It's hard to change something when people making the decisions are benefiting from it. I believe more people are becoming aware of these problems, and change will happen.
  8. I'm not labeling you by any means. Progress comes at different times, and in different areas. I'm not a huge Sanders fan, but i believe in the message that our systems are unfair right now. There has been separate issues to fight for that have taken priority. That is a better way to put it than complacency. Whether you want to admit it or not, Clinton represents the establishment. I would just be patient to see what happens after next week when Sanders is all but mathematically eliminated. Voters aren't completely ignorant, and will know that any vitriol from him at that point is pointless. He should stay in the entire time. Why is it such a big deal he tries to sway super delegates? They came out in support of Clinton before he had any momentum. This is almost all hypothetical from the Sanders campaign. As long as they start fighting more nicely, he isn't a problem to Clinton. He keeps her in the news and these issues fresh. Like everyone has said, the news focusing on trump would be terrible for Clinton.
  9. Chitown, I'm honestly astounded by your stance on these issues. Sanders has ignited some issues that will not be ignored. Trump is also hitting on some of the same topics about the establishment. Perhaps the most troubling part of your posts has been labeling independent voters. America is changing. My generation is completely different than past status quo complacency. Watch the closed primary system dissolve by the next election. I guarantee it.
  10. Meh, it's hard to say his momentum screeched to a halt after so many wins. I think it's fair to say had the election started with more favorable states he could be a lot closer. Clinton knows how to play the game. Unless something drastic happens, she is the President next year.
  11. For love of the game is for baseball people imo. There are a lot if truths to anyone that has spent time on a diamond. For some reason, i just like it. I also like bull durhama lot. And tin cup... so maybe i like costern's style. Not must see, but worth it.
  12. Any list that doesn't have "for love of the game" is invalid imo. My all time favorite baseball movie. Bad news bears should also be higher on the list.
  13. We comin! We comin!
  14. At least we've started to set some lofty goals.
  15. Look, i couldn't disagree with everything you said any more. There is no legacy of Terry Ryan. All there is, are a handful of mediocre teams that were blown out in the playoffs. Let's just end it there. This thread is the type of thing i think about, but try not to. I wish this organization was run differently, I'm sure we all do. At some point new people might run this team, I'd prefer it sooner than later. The problem is it shouldn't have taken this long to make a change. The season is a week old. I'm still hoping for a turn around.
  16. Not true. I like him because he is realistic. He has conservative values and rationality. He has lead a purple state and done it well. I voted rand Paul, but my second choice was kasich. I think there is a better chance than you are giving him credit for. If the gop wants to have a contender in November, he is easily the best candidate.
  17. Stringer, kasich is a bad comparison to Bernie. Kasich is the candidate the gop should have rallied behind. Cruz appeals only to evangelical ultra right wing republicans. He has no chance to attract moderates. A better comparison would be Ben Carson Policy wise.
  18. Dave, i will disagree with you to the nth degree about nyc and la voters being more aware than the Midwest. Just because the economies in those two cities are huge, does not mean they are politically aware. Sure, special interests and others that have dollars in political pockets will be, but the aggregate population. Especially when considering places like Minneapolis, Des Moines, and Chicago. Some of the most intelligent population in the world per capita.
  19. Nailed it. That one was too easy though.
  20. Lets play guess who said this. “Unfortunately she is now suffering from breast cancer, so keep her in your prayers,” she said in November 2004. “This may be an opportunity for her now to be open to some spiritual things, now that she is suffering with that physical disease. She is a lesbian.”
  21. Bernie still won't beat Clinton, but his success can't be overlooked. It continues to surprise me people are even still voting in the gop. Cruz is a terrible candidate and will get destroyed once people besides ultra Christian are paying attention. If i was Clinton, I'd prefer to run against Cruz. Trump wouldn't be too scary, but kasich beats her imo. Especially since he'll carry Ohio. I listened to conservative radio in Kansas this week. Wow. There is not one shread of doubt that those talking heads are holding back rural communities and dedicated Christians. They are making politicizing issues that shouldn't be, and misleading a very gullible portion of our population. The gop should not be the default party for Christians. Just because they tell you they are, does not make it true.
  22. Military spending is out of control. At some point, we have to be reasonable. The world will be ok if we're not micromanaging it.
  23. I just can't wait until i don't have to hear about his ****ing bull**** on a daily basis.
  24. Levi you are wrong. Rand Paul was pretty clear when address budgetary issues. Problem is, that special interests are the ones that benefit from government spending, and it's hard to keep their dollars out of politics.
  25. Also on my drive they commented about him. The particular comment was that he is a known homosexual, and doesn't represent the Republican party. It was difficult to listen to, but I wanted to broaden my horizons from just NPR.
