  1. Invoke sanctions on countries like Saudi Arabia until they change might be a direction i could support. I don't have a cabinet of foreign policy advisors at my disposal, so my actual solutions are limited I'm afraid. It's a complex problem. One that President Obama is briefed on a daily basis I'm sure. From a strategic standpoint, you don't continue doing the same ineffective actions year after year. We only hear a fraction of the effort against this threat, so it makes it difficult to truly criticize our military. But, we can criticize the press/officials when they continually mislead where the problem lies.
  2. That is the point. To solve the problem you have to actually solve the problem. Intolerance and archaic policy are a prime breeding ground for crazy people to kill people. Christianity was no different 1000 years ago. I hope it doesn't take that long for Islam to evolve. These societies are the problem. The poverty, the hopelessness, the anger, the ignorance, the perversion of words. Drawing attention to innocent Muslims is much like saying there are peaceful racists.
  3. But psuedo, you have to properly define the problem first. It's hard to fix when it is not outlined correctly. I'm with Levi on this topic. I've learned a lot about Islam and the prior in their society lately. The problems run deep. It's not too difficult to see why these people are doing what they are. When you have a nation of people with extreme views, graduating to radical isn't as far as some are making it out to be.
  4. Nunez and walker. Not going any more than that!
  5. If Matt Capps can get Wilson Ramos.... anything can happen boys! Sign me up!
  6. This whole conversation wouldn't be happening to the degree it is without blm. Life I've said before my wife is mixed, she line the alm more.... Mostly imo because she sees the negative clips and reads her evangelical Facebook feed. She also doesn't feel racism in her life. She thinks all lives should be equal, and blm choose bad wording for the slogan. I do think poverty plays a larger part in this than race by itself. A lot of positive changes can be put in place to help the situation. Let's be better. I hope this conversion evolves into a discussion on improving people lives in poverty past simple handouts. That doesn't help, it just keeps people alive. That shouldn't be the goal. A ****ty minimum wage job at a fast food place or big box store isn't a great consolation prize either. Again, let's be better (and not point fingers at those in those shirty situations).
  7. These people are cowards. It takes no bravery and no honor to kill innocent, unarmed people. Its maddening. The only way this goddess away is through drastic modernization in the entire middle East. The longer the dramatic poverty, barbaric punishments, undervaluation of women, and state supported religious persecution.... the longer terrorism will exist in the region. Also, Islamists need to step up and stop expecting the West to fix their problem. We (major western counties) can only weaken and suppress radicals, not eliminate them. I'm so tired of this problem. It almost feels like the crusades are going to play out again. Half our country would practically support dropping a nuclear weapon on them already, and that crowd is increasing.
  8. If the team plays 500 the second half that should be a win to all involved. That is a tall task relying on first and second year guys with the bat, and a horrendous rotation. There future looks alright, but until the young guys start contributing more on the mound, it's hard to see this tea contributing any time soon.
  9. Ok, ready to talk about this now. I live in northern Iowa, my wife is mixed. She is born and bred into white society, to the fact she often forgets she is colored. Our community is mostly white, but very welcoming. We see race issues from a different perspective. First, body cameras need to become mandatory. Citizens need to have a source of protection against excessive use of force. It should no longer be a debate. Police officers still get the benefit of doubt in controversial situations. In fact, i wouldn't be surprised if the officers involved in the shooting in Louisiana are convicted since the man was obviously noncompliant and possessed a weapon illegally. That brings me to my next point, which some may disagree. There is a cultural problem within urban communities, that teaches people noncomformity and unlawful behavior. The current system creates this cycle. Kids grow up knowing society expects them to be criminals, and every part of their life reinforces it. I don't know how to fix that without increasing the standard of living for these people.
  10. I'm not ready for this yet. I just can't even.
  11. I listened to the interrogation by Congress today and am disgusted by it. The right called this an emergency meeting, and have slapped their dicks the entire day. We get it, she shouldn't have had a private server. I'm sure rules will be put in place so this doesn't happen in the future. This type of charade is what misleads people and has caused the Republican party to be wrapped in conspiracy theory followers and anti government nonsense. I might need to delete Facebook because it shows how ignorant people are and frustrates me. There was no classified material in 30000 emails examined. Out of the 100 in question, only 3 had a symbol: © that represents confidential information. None had a classified header, which is required in order send classified material. There is no case here. C'mon guys and gals. Evidence matters. If you don't have any, you can't prosecute. This topic is stupid. Put protocols in place and call it a day.
  12. I hate this election.
  13. Good luck Hughes, sounds like you'll need it. Baseball is only a small part of life. Injuries suck , and coming back from them sucks even worse.
  14. Winning what? Primary gop voters and that is all so far. His poll numbers have only gone one direction and that is down. The party isn't behind him and there aren't enough white lower class people in this country to vote him in. Things will become more clear after the conventions. Clinton isn't spending much money right now either. Once she does though, i expect things to get worse for trump.
  15. Not surprising. I think Clinton gets 52 percent to trumps 41 and Johnson gets the other 7. And i think she crushes him in electoral votes. The guy just supported water boarding and more.... to cheering i might add. What the hell is wrong with people? It's been shown to be ineffective because captives will say anything they think will make it stop, even false information. There are better strategies.
  16. You might not think it matters, but if top level military intelligence does... I'm going with them. Its not as simple of a phrase as you make it seem. If it was, Obama and Bush wouldn't have been advised not to use it. Again, we are fighting a faceless enemy that thrives in the lowest weakest of places. It relies on fear, hate, power, and wickedness. We (the West) cannot fight this alone. The people in this region need to stand up for themselves and take responsibility. We can't do that for them. The longer they allow this to fester, the harder it is going to be to eradicate it. Drop all the bombs and deploy all the soldiers you want, it isn't helping. It only gives these people someone to fight, a target, an enemy, propaganda. Reforming Islam would be a great answer, if it were possible. That can't come from the outside. Look at Christianity. They stopped killing people a long time ago, but the Pope only recently declared Gay people don't deserve to die by public stoning. But, the Christian voices against violence became louder and condemned those seeking war under God. To get back on topic, Clinton is much more capable of address this crises than Trump. She is also putting blame on leaders in the Middle East like Saudi Arabia. I'd really like to see sanctions put on them for their role in all of this. Screw the price of fuel, we'll get over it. There has to be a way to punish them without crippling the global economy.
  17. The biggest thing to be about Stewart, is that guys just don't make very good contract. He has only allowed a handful of hr (10 in 300+ ip). Weak ground balls and inf are the worst kind of contact, and he induces a lot of them. The strike outs are coming along. Six scoreless innings are nothing to ignore. Twins have been pretty aggressive with him. I don't think they would be if they didn't feel he was ready. I'm just going they can further develop his out pitch to get more strike outs. He is still very very young.
  18. You're reading too far into the "it" ashbury. He is referring to the continuation of the radical ideology leading to death. I absolutely hate the ignorance oozing from the gop about using that term. Obama is listening to his military advisors. Why isn't that clear? Bush did the same! It's not productive, it alienates a religion, it creates a barrier with our country and culture to the rest of the Muslim world, and is 100% avoidable. It's a non issue to any reasonable American. Making an issue out of this is a problem. The people doing it needed to be castrated by the rest of the media. It would be like calling north Korea a radical Asian state, or Venezuela a volatile American country. Islam is an identity for a lot of people in the world, much the same as our country is ours.
  19. He lives in Florida... so I don't think it matters much. A lot if players late in their career try to play for winners. Mauer is hard to get a read on, so i don't know if that would be a priority of his or not.
  20. Honestly, that argument is exactly what the twins used with Ortiz. Not that I anticipate him to become Ortiz, not by a mile. It's just not a good argument. The twins didn't like the idea of a straight dh only player. I think he will be a productive player for a while. It will just take the right atmosphere to get him on track.
  21. Get the attachment to a tablet or smartphone. Best party system there is. Simple, fast, and can send email receipts instead of printing them.
  22. Potential was always there for jorge. I think his rough start in 2014 was the real surprise. That is the real outlier for him. It's almost too bad all the top talent is at the same level. They might have to start making some room for these guys. Seth is probably right with Jay. He will hit his innings limit and finish in the aa pen.
