  1. The next batter, Castro, flew out. 3 outs - inning over. It is history. To deny how the bad ball and stike calls change game after game after game is just not paying attention and disregarding the effect it has on the outcome of game after game after game. After game after game after game.
  2. where the game turned..... another umpire gaff. time for automation. Plate umpire gives the Gregorius the strike three call and calls a ball on pitch 5..... and he homers and he homers on the 6th pitch. Ervin has to throw 13 more pitches. The game should be 3-0 with Bird leading off the 2nd. Instead gifted by the umpire... the game is 3-3. At least the Twins earned their runs fair and square.

    Umpire calls

How well are the plate umpires doing?
  4. No need to wonder..... not on the roster. But I would have. Kirk Gibson didn't have to worry about how fast he ran........ and that is how you use him, if needed..... or.... would have used him.
  5. Again..... a vote that only includes twits. Very tired.
  6. John Harper: "The Yankees may own Ervin Santana, if you go by his 6.43 ERA over six starts in this Yankee Stadium, but it was only two weeks ago that they were locked up in a 1-1 game in the sixth inning against him, and if that’s the scenario on Tuesday night, the level of angst at the Stadium will be palpable." I hope we get the most recent Ervin in this game.......
  7. Jimmy Kimmel, while saying goodbye to A-roid after his spot on Monday night's Jimmy Kimmel show, said the playoffs start on Thursday. Bite Me, Jimmy Kimmel!
  8. In this century, I have yet to see a Twins team perform in the playoffs with a relaxed "whatever happens, happens" attitude. Not one game. The fans? Maybe, some. Not mostly. Perhaps, now? Not me.
  9. Daniel Kramer and Joe Trezza / MLB.com say: It's a matchup few saw coming when the season began, with Minnesota coming off a 59-103 2016 campaign and the Yankees still thought to be a year or two away from legitimate contention. But both clubs rebuilt in what felt like record time, as both relied on the progression of several key young players to quickly turn into contenders again. Record time for the Twins rebuild. Yup. That's what 7 years has felt like to me.... record time.
  10. No Sano, but a bunch of worthless pitchers on the roster in the bullpen, that won't even be used. It is up to the bats tonight. Lots of runs and early.....
  11. I agree that it will come down to whether the Twins hit and how well the bullpen can perform. But there is no advantage to a low scoring game from the Twins. The bullpen needs as much cushion as possible. Hopefully, only the Yankees have trouble scoring early. The Twins need to score 5 plus runs by the 5th.
  12. Great to have Sano off the bench! He seems to have lost his eye and patience, though. It seems he hardly ever works walks, now. Grossman is valuable. Best to take Colon's spot. Colon is worthless. To not consider Colon's whole season for some lucky starts is a fool's gambit. I can't believe they are going to give him a start in the last two games. Hell, may as well give Perkin's or Turley a start instead of Colon.
  13. That took you long enough. I've been concerned about Duffey's stuff half the season.
  14. now just get 11 plate appearances in one game........
  15. octacycle.... single, double, triple, standard HR, inside the park HR, walk, HBP, strikeout not caught......
  16. Humans are so easily fooled and swayed from the truth, eh?
  17. Gotta love the Pressly/Presley matchup. Pressley squared.
  18. Umps can be soooooo inadequate. How about that 5th pitch call, apologists!
  19. Gibson just can't get the ball down much tohight.
  20. That's right.... Gibson's pitching. Lots of runs probably coming.
  21. how does Gimenez not score on that double.......
  22. coming off not hitting at all....... i like an easier first at bat myself.
  23. Exactly. Maybe to build his confidence? Well, that didn't happen. It always amazes me how pitchers that perform well under stress, often don't do as well without it, and seem to not be quite as intense. I hope they play the last three to win. I hate not keeping an intensity that will be required to win and go past the Wild Card game. Gardenhire let the team "rest" and tune up for the playoffs for the last 11 games in 2010. They were never the same, as they limped home @ 2-8, and lost the best record first seed. I am a firm believer in momentum and a winning culture (regardless of what happened in '87, and they lost the last 5 games of the season).
