  1. I'm not a big fan of trading multiple players for one, all your eggs are in one basket, then if he gets hurt, you are are up a crick without a paddle. The Timberpuppies trade for Jimmy Butler comes to mind.
  2. Thanks Mike for an update from some one that is actually close to the info.
  3. So what happened to Luke Heimlich, the guy SI wrote about?? They were saying he was a top 10 talent, could come right in an pitch out of a major league bullpen, like David Price did, but had some major legal problems. Does that drop him out of consideration??
  4. "He’s clearly been in pain at the plate and on the bases." Shouldn't the team doctors know better than to let them come back before a break is healed??! Shouldn't someone in the coaching staff point out to management that its tough to bat with pain in your legs?? Head shaking...
  5. The problem is that just the fact that he hit 24 home runs last year and with his potential, he's still going to make a LOT of money, enough to live like a king down in the Dominican. He has no incentive to get any better. He's already banked his 6 million dollar signing bonus and with a middling contract, by todays baseball standards, he's set for life.
  6. Your post makes it sound like the twins better win now, this year, because a lot of the vets will be gone and it will be all young players.
  7. Nice review Nick!!! Thanks!!! Until Buxton and Sano learn to stay healthy and produce for a lengthy period of time (is a season or two too much to ask?), they're going to remain over-hyped prospects. Tantalizing but frustrating. Dozier is determining his own fate as far as resigning with the Twins. Good when hes hot but not worth a long term contract. Same with Joe Mauer, this injury could push him out the door. Personally, I think with two small kids and plenty of money in the bank, he should retire. Is the possibility of a World Series worth being a Jim Mcmahon later in life?? Lynn was a good signing but he just hasn't worked out. It would be nice if he would have few good starts to up his trade value but the good thing is that the Twins have other starting pitching options. I just hope the Twins stay close to .500 so they're interesting to watch. Another long losing streak and they're going to become irrelevant.
  8. NO! You can never have too much pitching!!! When the Twins have gotten good starting pitching, it lines up the bullpen, and they have a good chance of winning. Plus injuries inevitably come up.
  9. Should be an interesting week, six games against two division leading teams!!! I'll settle for 3-3. I hate those late West coast games!!!
  10. After Molitor was named manager of the year, Falvine didn't have much choice. Plus how much is Molitor making a year?? One-two million?? Thats peanuts compared to what Hughes is making, yet people are thinking he should be released. Then add the fact that Molitor was forced onto Falvine, they were told by Jim Pohlad that he was going to be the manager. I'm not against Molitor or advocating his firing but you can't fire all the players, if the Twins don't start playing better, his job is going to be in jeopardy. Pretty soon you're going to see articles about managers in jeopardy, the drums start beating and....
  11. RB, you're dating yourself when you start talking Popeye, Brutus, and spinach!!! I'll bet the people under 40 don't have a clue what you're talking about!! Good job!!
  12. The 'Top Prospect Summary' is a nice addition to the minor league report. I'm curious, when Chattanooga travels to Pensacola, is it by plane or bus?? Do the minor league players ever get to travel by plane?? Or is it all bus travel?
  13. Worried about Santana?? No. It would be nice to have him alongside the other starters, who have all looked pretty good but worried?? No. Theres nothing that can be done except give him time to heal, and look forward to having a solid addition to the staff.
  14. Maybe they can start Kinley on Friday.... Just kidding!!! Not really fair to Molitor to stick him with a player he can't and/or won't use. Is he supposed to be winning games or running a day care center?
  15. That was my original point, that the Twins would be better off playing day games this time of year because of the warmer temps and sunshine but then someone piped up that 'day games weren't smart while the kids were in school'.
  16. This. Spend the money on signing our own young guys and pitching.
  17. After watching that video of him running the bases in yesterdays game recap, i don't know about that. He's a big, big man, if his legs hold up, it will be a miracle.
  18. Pick your poison, night games at 24 degrees or day games, at 32 degrees with sunshine. Pull up a chair on the west side your house this afternoon (provided you are in Minnesota), if you're out of the wind and in the sun, its actually pretty nice. Are the Twins going to get a higher attendance in the afternoon games in nicer weather or in the evening, even with the kids 'available', when everyone has to dress up in snow suits? Remember, the Twins goal is to get more fannys in the seat so the can sell more $10 beers, $8 hot dogs, and all the other foodie items that are not cheap.
  19. Baseball also needs to schedule more day games this time of year. I was just looking at the schedule, the games 4/9 and 4/10 with Houston are night games, forecast for 32/20 and 32/23 for the two days. 32 and sunny is a heck of a lot warmer than 20 degrees!!!!!! The sun is powerful this time of year, I was out at noon and even at 22 degrees it was melting the ice off the roads and steam was coming off the parking lots. We can only hope that the Twins get used to the cold over the weekend so that the when the hot-house flowers from Houston come to town, worrying about neck gaiters and long underwear, the Twins are acclimated to it and just worrying about playing good ball.
  20. How about a change in scheduling where you're playing division opponents, teams that will be back in town later in the season?? Then it would be a lot easier to postpone a game.
  21. Where there is smoke there is fire. Hopefully Sano has learned a lesson about keeping has testosterone in check!!!!
