    Forget making May into a starter, with his stuff he can be a top of the line reliever. Let him relieve on a regular basis this year next year try him as the closer.

    After we got back the eleven prospects at the trade deadline, I kept wondering why Falvine didn't try to get back one higher ranked prospect in each trade vs two lower ranked prospects that had a minimal chance of making the majors. This article gives us hope that one or two will succeed.

    Do you think that Dave St. Peter and group have statistics that tell what the average expenditure is per fan per game and how many fans they need per game to break even?? I'm guessing yes.

    The best way to put fannies in the seats is with a winning team. The second best way is marketing -- promoting what you have, Mauer, the young players coming up, etc. But that only goes so far, you'll never fill up Target Field with marketing. It takes a winning team.

    Is it possible that they claimed these two guys and put them on the 40 man roster so they don't have to put more valuable prospects on the roster? In a few weeks when you do have a roster crunch, either one of these guys can be jettisoned in a heartbeat vs having to make a tough decision on which prospect to expose (Chargois comes to mind). Plus you have few weeks to evaluate these two guys.

    It sure would be fun to be a fly on the wall in the GM's office, listening in on the trade talk conversations. Who makes the first call? The seller or buyer? Who makes the first offer? How many times do they talk before a trade is consummated? how many trades are discussed that never get made? It would be interesting....

    So why are you terrified? I'm just stating my opinion of what I think will happen at catcher in 2019. They have another $8 million committed to Castro and Garver just needs playing time to see whether he's the best option for 2020, I don't see the Twins spending a lot of prospects or free agent dollars to get another catcher.

    Remembering how Butera was bashed here on TD, I thought the same thing when Kansas City was in town.

    With Castro coming back and Garver showing promise, the Twins won't be looking to upgrade catcher in 2019, Castro and Garver are it - with a guy like Wilson in AAA in case of injury.

    Dealing Duke and Lynn would also give them a chance to check out some of the pitchers in AAA. Thats what they need to be focused on!!!

    I think you are correct. The cash cow called Target Field only works if there are fanny's in the seats. A losing team dims fan interest and keeps them away from Target Field, meaning less $10 beers and $8 hot dogs sold.

    I think you nailed it. The FO made some good moves but when both Sano and Buxton regressed, the season started sucking. Plus losing your best starting pitcher - Santana, AND your starting shortstop AND your starting catcher. The FO couldn't do anything about that. Going forward is where the FO can prove themselves, knowing that Sano and Buxton can't be counted on and that the best prospects are years away from Target Field. Its going to be interesting.

    I wonder why Lynn isn't higher on the list?? He had a poor start but has pitched better recently, he'd look good as a 5th starter for some team. Plus being a free agent, I would think the Twins would be motivated to move on from him. In my mind he has a lot better chance of being traded than Odorizzi. I'd rank the likelihood of being traded as Duke 95%, Lynn 80%, Rodney 60%, Dozier 50%, Escobar 20%, Odorizzi 10%, Gibson 5%. Just my opinion. Its going to take a good offer to pry loose Escobar or Gibson, and they have another year of control on Odorizzi and Gibson. Starting pitching wins.

    Hopefully it WILL be Polanco, to prove that last year wasn't all PEDs.

    His slump helped bury the Twins early on. Hopefully he's building his trade value. Even thought the Twins are out of it, ten games back, its still nicer to listen to winning baseball. It will be interesting to see how they do against a team on a roll like Tampa. On a side note, is there a spot on Twins Daily that lists the daily roster transactions?? I was listening last night and when they mentioned that Busenitz was pitching, I was wondering 'when did he get called up'?
