  1. Why would anyone else want him and on top of that give something up for him and his 3 million $ owed?
  2. They should DFA him and move on to younger guys but I don't think they want to swallow the 3 mill plus they still owe him.
  3. Speculation is nasty stuff. I tried it in College but didn't inhale and still felt light headed, still do actually.
  4. If nothing else Plouffie is clutch!
  5. Wonder if Floriman can pitch and let Burton hit. Might work out better.
  6. You should be given a demerit or something for high jacking the tread with rules and stuff.
  7. Fine print has no place on a game thread!
  8. Actually most pitchers would hit better at this point. Maybe use the DH for Floriman?
  9. I don't understand the need unless he is a Trout like player. So many things can go wrong with a young player. Wait a couple years and then look at it.
  10. Why would the Sox do this? Drew has a better career slash line and he cost nothing but money. Why give up a good prospect for a player that has had some short term success (seems like everyone is overly excited by a few home runs) but hasn't proven over a long haul he is a major league hitter. To the Sox he'd likely become a utility player when Pedroia comes back, is that worth a top prospect?
  11. 6. Think about Floriman hitting .080. Nolasco is a career .138 hitter maybe they should let the pitcher hit and dh for Floriman.
  12. 6. I think about why these guys signed with the Twins. So many guys didn't want the twins money, we hear, did they take it because nobody else offered? If nobody else offered it might explain what we've seen so for. Think about that we have 4 yrs for Nolasco, 3 yrs for Hughes and 2 for Pelfry to find out. Somewhere in all those years one of these guys has to pitch a good game, don't they? To be kind of serious these guys can't continue being this bad can they, really???
  13. Very like the Twins to trade for a guy that's owed over 100 mill over the next 5 years.
  14. My guess is they tried to sign him and he didn't want their money!!
  15. When you sign guys that are mediocre at their best when they aren't at their best it isn't going to be pretty. OK Career ERA+ isn't perfect but easy for this: Corriea 89, Pelfry 89, Nolasco 93 and Hughes 94. If 100 is average why should we expect these guys to be good and be surprised when they aren't?
  16. Per Baseball Ref: Service Time (01/2014): 1.100, Arb Eligible: 2016, Free Agent: 2019 [*], Agents: ABC Mgmt Leventhal & Lapa [*]
  17. NO loyalists today? Everything will be alright? Terry has a plan and its working great and no way 3 of our top prospects we are really counting on could all miss extended time this year. Don't worry be happy! Best way to stay happy is by not spending any money on this team!!
  18. NO. He can be a free agent 2019, 5 years away. He only has 1000 ab's and has been both bad and good. .177 with 12 k's this year certainly isn't something to jump up and down about. Maybe in a couple years if he hits well over that time but there is no reason to be in a hurry. Think about that one, our leadoff hitter is hitting .177! Must be part of that master Ryan rebuild plan to have nobody to lead off for 2+ years now.
  19. I'm kind of or actually old and can remember the days of Killer, Tony O and later Kirby. There are some players like these guys that in a tight game you'd sit up in your seat a little because you knew these guys could change the game in that at bat. I've never felt that with Joe up. That doesn't mean anything negative about his ability other than imo he isn't the "game changer" that others are and have been. Does anyone think if Kirby batted yesterday with the winning runs in scoring position he'd have worked a walk?
  20. Why change what works so well?
  21. 6. Think about Burton and 6a. think about Tonkin.
  22. All is not lost we have 10 K's for the day in the quest for the record.
  23. I think its just a case where the umpires, officials and referees are always against any team, player, coach or manager from Minnesota. If you don't believe that just ask Sid!
  24. After the last 3 years I really wish I had these to take before every game! http://siquieroporsandrallopis.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/happy-pills-bote.jpg
  25. Well at least we are keeping up the chase for most strikeouts by a team in a season. On pace for 1620 record is 1935. Always nice to have goals!
