  1. Hoping and praying is always a great way to put a teamtogether.
  2. This team makes me sad!!!!!
  3. Pre-season Twins think of Worley http://www.topwallpapers10.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/75c3941f872e6e9860f115f8016743db.jpg
  4. The Angels might do that trade about now.
  5. Maybe they could offer Worley to the Braves for a PTBNL depending how he does. Doesn't really look like he has a spot and he's out of options. Braves seem to get a lot out of their pitching so maybe they can find something Rick doesn't. He's still young and probably has a little more upside than does Garcia and Floyd. Probably wishful thinking on my part to get anything for him.
  6. I'm not sure Correia would bring much back at this point. He's a mediocre pitcher at best and there likely will be similar types hitting waivers in the next couple weeks that cost nothing. Would anyone here give up a decent prospect for one year of Correia?
  7. I don't understand that. If you think the player can help your club why do you have to low ball the guy? They have plenty of money if you want a guy do what it takes. He does nothing to help the club if you don't sign him and the money does nothing to help the club in Pohlads bank unspent. I'm not sure I would want the guy but if you do a few extra million isn't going to kill the team.
  8. Well the same excuse I see used for the Twins applies that they have been drafting late in the first round every year. Look at it this way. The last Twin playoff win was 10 years ago 2004. In the last ten years the Cards have 52 wins, 4 trips to the world series and 2 world series titles. I'll take the Cards wisdom any day! That was the point I made before, if they sign a guy it is likely for a good reason. They may not draft well in the first round but they are clearly doing something right.
  9. St Louis doesn't make a lot of mistakes and I would trust them over the Twins front office and most bloggers. Likely to turn out being a good signing.
  10. Chi town maybe you can get part time job with the Strib. Miller and Len3 seem to be on vacation.
  11. A question and trying to not be a smart a**. Antony started out as an intern in the PR dept. Worked his way up over a lot of years. From what I can see he has never been a scout or player evaluation guy at any time. How do you get from the PR dept. to acting GM? Shouldn't there be some scouting or some kind of player eval type work along the way? Was this what happened with Bill Smith? A money guy, no scouting background, his right hand man is Antony with no scouting background, is that why things didn't turn out great?
  12. You can always use more pitching if it's good pitching. The rotation is now mostly mediocre at best. If they can add a good or better guy do it. However, I don't think they need more mediocre or worse guys.
  13. Spend more money, put a better product on the field and people will buy tickets!
  14. Yes in the playoffs 17 out of the last 20 years with 5 world series titles they clearly have no idea of what they are doing!
  15. Twins were in on him until it went over 2 years @ 8 mill. Terry just couldn't get him to take his money!
  16. It doesn't appear that much payroll at all was added. As it stands now it is about the same as last year. The major additions were 2 pitchers and bringing Pelfry back. If you like ERA+ or not it is a measure of average pitching. Pelfry 90+, Nolasco 94+ and Hughes 95+. Not exactly top quality. For years Carl and Jim Pohlad told us they needed a new park to compete and we were promised that they would spend 52% of revenue to make that happen. Now we mostly hear how spending the money promised isn't the answer at all, it's a shortcut or spending just to be spending. Funny how that worked out isn't it. Of course, that left over money can be used to produce more movies!
  17. Not sure this is apples to apples. One pitching in the dome with turf and in the American League and the other pitching in the Natl League in a hot muggy park with grass. Of course, maybe all these stats factor that in?
  18. May all our prospects become all stars and the beer be free!
  19. You can never have enough good pitching. At this point most of the starting pitching we have is very suspect. Sign him!
  20. " The signing addresses the last obvious need on the roster,...." So we lose Morneau and Doumit (I nearly forgot Clete), sign Kubel and Suzuki to fill that void. Do these moves really do much to improve our bad offense from last year?
  21. So do these stat guys take into account the pitcher and hitter? We always hear a young hitter is less likely to get the close pitch, if it's Mauer he has a great eye so it must be a ball. However, the pitcher has pin point control so it must be a strike. Is the umpire really thinking who is pitching and who is hitting and if the catcher is a good or bad framer or is he just watching the ball cross the plate? I umpired when I was younger and I didn't pay any attention to the catchers glove. I would hope guys at the major league level would do the same.
  22. Good deal. We have enough DH types and Doumit really doesn't have a position he can even play ok in. Not really sure what the Braves are thinking doing this.
