  1. Looks like our .4 runs won't be enough tonight.
  2. Never heard of cooking a tuna sandwich. How does that work, in a pan or in the oven? Sorry Charlie!
  3. If they bring up Buxton and start his service time to play with this bunch they should all be fired. By the way he is hurt and not playing.
  4. Only 3 days to the opener, I guess the master plan is starting to come together. Is it ok to say things look a little unsettled?
  5. A couple years ago on the MLB Network a group of ex-players were talking about where free agents might sign. They said to a man that nearly all players will sign where they get the most money. These were ex-players, not bloggers or scribs, but guys that had gone thru the process themselves. So when I see the "we can't give the money away" I think it's not because of the weather or the record or anything other than they didn't offer enough compared to the market.
  6. At this point I think the backup plan is for the PR department to buy more lipstick!
  7. Payroll dropped around 18. According to Cotts 100m in 2012, 82m in 2013.
  8. The Twins starting staff this year will have only Gibson as a Twins draft pick. The Red Wing starting staff as Len 3 had in a recent post has only Logan Darnell. That means out of our top 10 starting pitchers only 2 were drafted and developed by the Twins. Doesn't that say maybe it's time to look at who and how the Twins are evaluating pitchers?
  9. Does Willingham look done like last year and his spring ave. seem to indicate?
  10. Thanks Chi Town I'd bat Hicks 9th because I think he'd have a better chance of being on base when the top of the order comes up than Suzuki or Pedro will. However, I'm not sure any order they pick will help much with this bunch.
  11. After 99, 96 and 96 loss seasons the owners appear to still think the front office and coaching staff are doing an acceptable job. Bill Smith was re-assigned but in the end I doubt that really changed much except the fact Terry is a little more thrifty. The accountability may only come when the ticket sales fall to a point that really hurts the profits. Of course at that point they may do what they did in the late 90's (94-00 era was really ugly) and just reduce costs. This team has a long history of not making big changes to the front office or coaching staff no matter what the product on the field looks like. I don't see anything to say the Pohlads will change that in the near future. As fans the only recourse we have is not by complaining (might make some of us feel better but isn't going to change anything) in a blog but by not buying tickets. Profits are what run this team, imo.
  12. I guess the Pohlads need the cash, doesn't make a lot of sense otherwise.
  13. This will be the game the pitching staff boycotts.
  14. Yes makes sense but won't happen. Plouffe isn't really a major league hitter against RH pitching when you factor in poor defense. Put these two guys together and you might have a decent player.
  15. Did I miss something last year in that Colabello showed he was a good hitter at the major league level? As I remember it he was really bad and a few at bats in the spring often don't mean anything. Luke Hughes a few years ago, Aaron Hicks last year.
  16. Len 3 is reporting Escobar and Kubel have made the team.
  17. I'm sad, this looks like a bad team at this point.
  18. Gardy and his no DH, for at most a few innings, worry is one of the silliest things ever to come out of his mouth.
  19. Anyone have a favorite Worley highlight?
  20. If he can't stick with the Twins what team is really bad enough to want him?
  21. You take out that 39 game stretch in a now 351 game career and his numbers are really bad! Who's the real Plouffe that 39 game guy or the other 312 game guy? I won't mention that 351 games of sub par defense oops just did. On the other hand we don't really have an option do we?
  22. They have the money to sign both Drew and Morales. The 40+ and 70+ draft picks are a very very long shot to ever produce what these guys should. It would really improve the Twins chances of at least keeping fans interested past Memorial Day. People might even start buying tickets again!
