  2. 5 guys with 30+ k's after 30 games. Walks have been going down, k's are still there (9.2 per 9) likely reverting to the norm is happening. Todays silly comment: Maybe when Joe gets back, he could bat 1st and move Dozier down to 2nd or 3rd. It kind of makes sense to have the high obp guy on in front of the guy who is hitting the hr's. Let Joe do what he does best get on base and not worry about him being a middle of the order bat.
  3. He makes Gardy feel good. One of these is Gardy and one is Floriman career line guess which is which! .232/.277/.296/.573 .208/.269/.307/.576
  4. I think Dozier is a better athlete than Hardy so he should be able to make that switch back especially if Rosario shows he can play. So if he proves he can play Hardy type SS we can quick trade him for some washed up relief guys. (Sorry that wasn't called for but I couldn't help myself).
  5. Stupid comment of the day, getting it out of the way early, is it worth trying Dozier back at SS for a week or two? Nunez would likely be acceptable at 2B at least more so than SS and Dozier is now settled in at "the major league level" and maybe could handle SS this time. If it works and with Rosario maybe ready by late in the year the middle would look kind of good.
  6. "And then stubbornly sticking with him......" And this somehow surprises people after all these years?
  7. At least our guys are leading the league in something!
  8. Pelfry is hitting 89-91 with the fastball which works if you're a crafty lefty. But he is a not so crafty righty and the results are kind of ugly. I don't know many crafty righties, maybe Brian he's crafty he can get by on his grit and guile.
  9. 2010 would be the last time you could really say he was good. Not sure how you can get a small sample size out of 4 years. Only 2 years in his career has he been "good" 2008 & 2010 a long way in the past at this point. Maybe if he gets back in the NL he could get back to mediocre and I think that's a long shot.
  10. Unrest in the http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRJUZKmsUrANiaTHiKaQFlhsaucuVjAMbmhH4yMQMKLmzKX05Ld tonight!
  11. Crawford ends up being a second leadoff hitter after the first inning. Makes sense to me instead of Butera who is not likely to get on base. Much better chance to have a runner on when the top of the order comes up.
  12. Here is a link to a story on Rosario by Len 3 in the Strib today. http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/257268071.html
  13. My guess is that Meyer won't come up until after the super 2 cutoff. Wait that's being kind of cynical so I take it back.
  14. What if this is his best? Get the lipstick out!
  15. Well everyone likes to jump on Bill Smith much of which he deserves. However, his record is actually better than Ryan's at 51% wins against Ryan at 48%. No doubt Smith made some bad deals and we will never know who gave him the scouting advice to make the deals because he had to rely on others for that because he had no scouting or player eval background. How could anyone see that as a problem? The Twins minor league system actually improved it's ranking under Smith likely because he was willing to spend some money. Does anyone think Ryan would have spent the money to sign Sano, Kepler and a few others? The point of playing major league baseball is one of 2: Trying to win a world series or making money. Looking back I'd say Smith was over his head but was trying to win a world series and willing to spend the bosses money to do so. Ryan, I think, is willing to do what stays in or under budget. Whatever you get with that is ok. I'd likely give them both a D.
  16. Most, and I don't know what % it is, baseball people say a player needs 1000 at bats before you can really tell what you have. Hicks has less than 400 so give the guy the rest of the year. Can the Twins really afford to give up on the guy already when he is only 24?
  17. JOKE they are playing in a dome!!
  18. If you look at the offense it is likely better in run production because of all the walks they've been getting. 8.4 hits per 9 in 14 against 8.3 hits last year. 9.2 k's in 14 against 8.8 last year. Runs 5.3 this yr and 3.8 last yr. Why is that when they aren't getting more hits? Walks! 5.1 walks this year and 3.3 last year. A plus 1.8 walks per 9 innings vs. a plus 1.5 runs per 9 last year. You know the saying walks will kill you. It's likely only some of these extra walks are from better at bats more likely many are from running into some wild pitching. If we were getting a lot more hits I'd feel better long term but I think all these extra walks might even out over time.
  19. Glad the wind isn't bad that tends to screw with our pitchers for some reason.
