    Two things I'd like out of the new GM. First: he knows more about baseball than Dave St Peter. Two: he/she does a total re-do of the minor league pitching development guys.

    A lower pick say top 5 gives you a much larger bonus pool allowed for signing not only draft picks but also Int. singings, unless those rules change. However, it probably would make the Pohlads happy if the max allowed to spend is lower. Long term get the best draft position you can in a lost season. In a couple years nobody will care if they lost 90 or 95 this year, imo. 2016 #1 Pool Int. 5.6m and draft 13.9m = 19.5 #5 Int. 4.1m and draft 11.2 = 15.3 #10 Int. 2.9 and draft 9.1 = 12 Drafting 10 instead of 5 gives you over a million less dollars for Int. signings if they actually would spend it all.

    Make the trade and include Nolasco then the money is next to nothing. Surprised how many people are concerned about team chemistry on a team that has lost 90+ games 5 of the last 6 years, I'm not sure the team chemistry is working all that well. They could get Tony O to mentor the guy, Tony speaks perfect Cuban.

    What Antony is saying is better than what Terry was say, "we'll take a lesser prospect if we don't need to add money". That plan was giving him away just to save money. Start high you can always go down but if you start low then go lower isn't a great plan.

    No reason to even worry about Plouffe. He won't be here next year and he isn't good enough to take away playing time from the young guys. Put him on waivers Aug. 2 and hope someone picks him up.
