  1. I would like to see the difference in ball 2 and strike 3.... If anything ball 2 looked more like a strike.
  2. The right side was so wide open and of course Granite puts it about the only place where he could get doubled up.
  3. Even on a non-force DP? I would think it's ruled a sacrifice fly with a trailing runner out trying to advance?
  4. Sano made a helleva bare handed scoop and Mauer had a great dig at 1st, but he just beat it out. Now that double..... It was well hit, but Kepler did not play it well at all.
  5. Gotta consider the Braves got out from under $4M or so from Garcia's contract as well.
  6. Well....this could get interesting. Jon Morosi‏ @jonmorosi Sources: #Twins will consider moving Ervin Santana - and even the recently acquired Jaime Garcia - if team's recent struggles continue. @MLB
  7. If we are being honest fans, Ervin Santana isn't the most valuable asset in the league right now, so yes they will get a lower return for him than say a guy like...Sonny Gray, but that doesn't meant he wouldn't bring back a good return. Will there be a team out there willing to give that return? Who knows.
  8. Because at times Santana can pitch like an ace and he only has one guaranteed year left on his contract after 2017. He would probably be cheaper to get than a guy 10 years younger than himself and will still be an upgrade for about every team out there.
  9. I am all for Granite getting a shot at the major leagues, but are you serious? Not only does Granite not have near the tools that Buxton has, he's a year older! Buxton currently leads the majors in defensive WAR, and you are going to chalk it up to dumb luck? Granite made a really nice catch yesterday, but this just blows my mind.
  10. Double steal muff is on Castro to me. Everyone in the building knows that Maybin has elite speed on 3rd base. Even if they didn't know the Angels had previously done this, this isn't a new play, it's one that everyone should have seen being in baseball for years. Either way, it's hard to win a game only scoring 1 run, especially when you are down 1-0 before you even get the plate.
  11. Ha, we're a Minnesota sports franchise, s-- happens!
  12. Meh. In any other park that's an out, any other place on the entire monster Ramirez has no shot at scoring. I thought Gibson threw a decent game yesterday and got a few unlucky breaks, which were looked at in depth in the write-up. Yeah his interview he did complain a little bit, but it was deserved IMO. I would rather hear that than a candid "I didn't get the job done today" response, but that's just a personal opinion.
  13. Except there was no 3 run homer. Solo shots to Betts and Ramirez.
  14. Thank God Kennys got walked, he didn't see a strike the whole AB
  15. The last 2 losses are tough. Blame Molly all you want for both of them, but there have been a lot of lot of opportunities for players to step up and be the hero and no one has stepped up to answer the call.
  16. Can't we even congratulate a player without ripping 2 or 3 others down? This site has become so pessimistic it's depressing. I wish Alex the best and i hope he succeeds. There are so many people so negative, that you are already blaming the pitching coach, the system and the front office for players for him no succeeding. I can't even com to this site without hearing excuses. Berrios walks two batters and gives up a gift 3-run HR today...........let's blame everyone in the system. Jose knows how to pitch. You don't blow by AA and AAA without knowing how. You don't throw 55 of 91 pitches for strikes without knowing how to pitch. Give the guy some time. We don't have to blame someone for everything bad thing that happens. ****. A pitcher has a bad start............we blame the front office, the manager, the pitching coach and then the catcher. They are human beings. The Twins organization is not the only one that young players struggle. Look it up. There are more players in the league than Michael Trout. I know all of you know what it's like to be a young twenty-something in a major league organization............but good christ. I love this site, but it's getting to the point where I can't even come here anymore and that's sad. Ugh. good night.

  18. I guess it depends on what you see is more valuable. Joe is a career .408 hitter on the 1st pitch in the at bat. Does that mean he should swing at more or is him being extremely selective pushing up his numbers? There are only 7 players in baseball this season who see more pitches per plate appearance than Joe, who is currently averaging 4.27 pitcher per PA. I find that extremely valuable as starters generally throw 100 pitches max these days. If Joe was striking out more and/or walking less maybe I would let it bother me. Working a count and waiting for your pitch seems to be a diminishing art anymore with the generation of free swingers.
  19. I still see nothing wrong with Joe taking 1st pitch strikes.
  20. I see zero situations around the league where Joe would be one of the most hated players in baseball.
  21. I am not against trading him, but if they do I sure hope they get a pretty nice package in return for him.
  22. That just sounds like a blanket statement. Every player is a different situation whether it be contract wise, positional value, etc.
  23. You don't draft a 18 year old HS shortstop because you need a shortstop. How many SS's end up at other positions? Best player available in baseball makes complete sense. How many teams KNOW exactly who the best player available is going to be? With guys 5-6 years away from the majors taking a player at a position of current strength doesn't matter one bit.
  24. You just put that post in digital ink.....
  25. I definitely was an IRC user back in my early high school days.
