  1. You ignore the fact that the teams don’t get approachable better. The information you linked showed it. For the Twins to have become appreciably better they would have had to trade for Miami’s closer, Arozarena, and Eflin. For salary purposes they would have had to move two of Margo, Kepler and Vasquez without eating contracts. Considering what the trade for cost, and the prospect capital needed to get another team to take on money you could essential kiss 3/4 0f your 5-20 rated prospects goodbye
  2. Did you bother to read the zips table you linked on the increase in percentage chance of winning the World Series after all the trades were made? Only Baltimore and the Dodgers significantly increased their chances. In terms of making the playoffs, did any team significantly make a change to make their team with a better shot to get in the layoffs than the Twins? Any trade is risk reward. There really wasn’t enough to trade fr that was going to make the Twins World Series contenders
  3. The trade deadline offered baindaids at emergency room prices fr some Dee wounds
  4. Toronto netted a poor hitting reserve outfielder. The infield prospect is a 26 year old that is now Toronto’s 22 ranked prospect The new third ranked prospect is viewed on fangraphs as a potential 4th starter. That is not a haul of talent
  5. While Lorenzen is a better 5th starter than what the Royals have I don’t think his ceiling is as high as Festa’s. In the playoffs he becomes the long reliever. If you need a long reliever the game is already lost and you could throw anybody out there
  6. Yet the Twins still retain a very much higher percentage chance of making the playoffs than those trailing them in the standings.
  7. You are the one complaining they do not go for it. I am pointing out the fallacy of that statement.
  8. I think the announcers are employed by the Twins but the rest is paid for by Bally’s. You have to add the cost of production to your attendance figures
  9. They went for it withe the Mahle and Lopez trades. All it created was more derision.
  10. The time you have sent posting you could have looked up the answer yourself you didn’t question the the facts and figures of the origional post just mine. Disrespect the oyher person questioned respectfully and got an answer
  11. If you don’t bother to ask the source of the 50 million figure I can only assume that you are just trolling me. Your response confirms that. F
  12. Players share of 440K for winning was separate according to Statistica
  13. You appear to not be able to look up things for yoursef
  14. A division leading club last year with a decent chance of owing well in the playoff with a very good starting staff did not draw fans to the ballpark Television rights.. diamond lost money on the Twins, xfinity does want to pay diamond the money to make a profit. So if the Twins spend more fans will magically appear and ratings will go through the roof
  15. Last year’s World Series winner got 30 million the loser 24. These fantastic claims of riches for winning are unsubstantiated.
  16. I stated what is possible for the Giants point of view. Unless the Giants are going to emulate their departing crosstown rival a blow the team up it is more likely they will be buyers than sellers. The parameter was set in the article that overcoming 4.5 games back is doable. I even gave what the hole in the Giants is that they need to fill.
  17. You bring in horse racing and America’s Cu which have absolutely nothing in common with baseball to make a point. You use dry cleaning business to compare to baseball.. what else do you have in your basket of fruit?
  18. No I guess I should have included they would be buyers of middle infielders, not sellers of pitchers
  19. A lot of assumptions being made here.. The blogger has the notion that the Twins can make up 4.5 games by making an addition . The Giants are 4.5 back. Maybe they are out looking for a middle infield help to bolster their chance to make up the 4.5 games. Snell has missed 10 starts so far this season. Without a dominant post season run I would doubt that teams are going to be looking to give him 30 million unless it is for 2 seasons. He has had too many seasons with injuries.
  20. Saying that you have not bought into bean counting as a sport and critiquing the Twins revenue are incongruous statements. The base level of baseball is no different than any other business in that some years you don’t make as much money but in general the business can’t bleed money.
