  1. Granite would probably make a better defensive outfielder out of the bunch. Has not hit above AA. His OPS at AA is not very good. With the Red Wings and call ups, they must be hoping for a hot streak to make the playoffs. A week or so before September callups. Any player that people are distraught about not being called up to get big league experience may be up then. I really doubt it will make a difference, but people have to complain.
  2. Promotion by title, not duties. Unless the DeWitt family goes into money saving mode, there is no reason to switch to a smaller market by revenue.
  3. What was a GM is now called director of baseball operations. What was an assistant GM is now called a GM. Changing nomenclature is modernization.
  4. Chris Hermann It is bad to be him AVG .290 HR 6 RBI 28 R 21 ops .853
  5. Arcia was either a 41, 60 or 93 ranked prospect depending on the service. There is an almost 40% chance that a hitter below the rank of top 20 in prospect rankings will have less than 0 war by the time they reach the 6 year point in their mlb career, It is not much of an exception that Arcia has not made it despite being a top 100 prospect.
  6. Gives up runs in bunches. ERA is greater by a large margin then fip
  7. Grossman plays defense like Arcia. That is a problem. OPS +of 1 20. I don't think Arcia was near that. Danny Santana. IDK Ask Molitor
  8. You are right, but I didn't compare them. I found it odd that the OP brought up Arcia when talking about Vargas.
  9. It is the battle of the small sample sizes. Vargas' July vs August numbers. Which numbers are a reflection of his true talent? Love the Arcia reference. Yup, sometimes being able to mash a ball isn't enough. It isn't enough when it does not happen enough. It has to happen even more when when you can't catch the ball.
  10. As a Twin http://www.fangraphs.com/zonegrid.aspx?playerid=4026&position=P&ss=2016-08-04&se=2016-08-20&type=0&hand=all&count=all&blur=1&grid=10&view=pit&pitch=FA,FC,FT&season=all Angels http://www.fangraphs.com/zonegrid.aspx?playerid=4026&position=P&ss=2016-05-04&se=2016-07-30&type=0&hand=all&count=all&blur=1&grid=10&view=pit&pitch=FA,FC,FT&season=all
  11. You make a comment like Vargas is out of the organization. As of now there is nothing happening . Attack because he might be a sweetener in a deal. The whole minor league of fringe players are sweeteners for deals. So if the Twins hang on to these players because they do nor make trades are you going to blast them for not making trades?
  12. Where is Vargas going? He was not DFA. He is on the 40 man. He is not arb eligible. He may be out of options next year, but nothing for next year is determined by him being sent down. Only speculation over what an unknown GM will do when you have zero information.
  13. Specifically defensive catcher that can hit 20+ HR is rarer than 20+ HR 2B. The comment on replacing Dozier's offense in trade, if one Terry Ryan made that comment he would be vilified.
  14. left handed bat. I wonder if Boston can stash him on the roster?
  15. I do not think you will get Posey, Perez or Ramos for Dozier.
  16. You once again missed the point. Long time back someone said Molitor did not play the inexperienced over the veterans.
  17. Right now it doesn't matter, the earlier statement was false as other more experienced outfielders were let go. Nice avoidance of the other three players. You could also add as the season has gone on Taylor Rogers has gotten more high leverage situations even before Abad was traded.
  18. Kepler gets plenty of playing time over more experienced outfielders. Polanco plays all over the place over more experienced players. Duffrey is still in the rotation as is Berrios over Millone. If Garver was thought to be MLB ready and able, Molitor would play him.
  19. There seem to be a quite a few people here who think with consistent playing time Sano would be a serviceable 3b. Many have thought he could play 1B. But if the Mets want to pay Mauer to waive his no trade......
  20. Not after they resigned Mauer and Morneau. With Mauer's contract adding another 20 million a year player to a 120 million budget would mean 2 players are eating 1/3 of your budget. The Twins are not going to find the 20 million in revenue to do that. Television contract doesn't come until 2023. There isn't the long term money other clubs have.
  21. In a fantasy world where trades can happen, I would move Sano and prospects to the Mets for deGrom. Buxton for Sale.
  22. This whole meme the Twins could have spent money on one great pitcher gets old, really old. The year they signed Nolasco and Hughes there was no other free agent pitcher out there. Tanaka required a posting fee. His 4 year contract plus a posting fee Nolasco's and the original Hughes contracts wouldn't come to meeting that. close to paying that. Add in Santana's the next year and you would be OK for Tanaka. But not for Sherzer. r Really old wanting what isn't available
  23. Maybe they can call up Garver to mentor Suzuki on defensive catching
  24. Saying that Molitor would be manager in 2017 is not a job guarantee. It is like the dreaded vote of confidence. It means nothing other than the assurances of a paycheck. The line used at the change would be something along the lines of "We want a manager that will develop our young talent" If the brass was fearing backlash they would throw Molitor under the bus for the undisciplined plate approaches and the non development of the non talent in the pitching staff.
  25. Saying Molitor will be the manager for 2017 in no way makes him untouchable. Utter nonsense. Whatever the background of the new is will be an indication of where the problems in the organization lies. They need to be addressed before you worry about the manager. Secondly, with a new GM, Molitor might not want to manage as a lame duck. I would hope that he isn't doing this for the money.
