  1. The OP is not bring up that AB Walker is the only member on the 40 man not brought up from AAA because he approves that he was not brought up.
  2. Well, he can't be something he is not, so post 3 was focusing on what Walker was not.
  3. Great team offense, minimal team defense. Minimal team defense leads to an ERA much greater than FIP, xFIP, or any other metric.
  4. That is only the drafted players, not the international players. So, why does a study ignore 25% of the players?
  5. Highly unlikely everyone loses their job on the minor league field staff level . The minor league pitching coordinator and the minor league coordinator are more likely, but not a certainty. Allen and Guardado go only if Molitor does not like them, they quit, or Molitor quits.
  6. If he does well every pitching coach in the Twins system should be gone
  7. You must have missed the earlier comment I made in the exchanges about multi position players with Levi when I said a pad fielder is a bad fielder wherever you put them. Doumit and Hermrann were brought up when Levi mentioned flexing Suzuki to the outfield as a way to illustrate my earlier comment a bad fielder is a bad fielder wherever you put them. Levi in the same post mentioned the article on Maddon. The article made out Maddon to be some cutting edge genius. How you are thought of when things work (Maddon) and things don't (Twins) a good one to point out.
  8. When I said Suzuki in the outfield has already been done, it was called Chris Herrman and Ryan Doumit I really did not put any words that resembled great idea so I do not know why you would think that I would be suggesting that.
  9. Suzuki did play in the outfield. Except he went by Chris Herman or Ryan Doumit Maddon's actual quote "In the Minor Leagues, everyone was always afraid of moving guys around, for it would hinder their development. I have no idea why not, but that's always been the conventional wisdom," said Maddon. "I think its becoming more obvious now that if you get a guy who is positionally flexible, you can get him to the big leagues more quickly if his bat is ready." Isn't it a bugger to be on the cutting edge, not know it, while trying to figure out how to do it. Terry Ryan on the cutting edge without knowing it.
  10. You think Antony has a going away present for the Twins? Danny is on the DL
  11. Levi, just for you reading pleasure http://m.mlb.com/news/article/189242190/more-infielders-converting-to-outfield-in-bigs/ "All athletes," said Mets manager Terry Collins, who is considering trying Jose Reyes and Wilmer Flores, both natural infielders, in the outfield. "One of the things we're finding today is player development continues in the big leagues. It doesn't stop anymore." But it also speaks to the ideologies shared by progressive baseball thinkers like Maddon and Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein.
  12. A poor fielder is a poor fielder. If you don't try something different you will never know if you have a player who is suited to that new position better than the old . Other than Sano, you list all people who were utility players. Did I mention Zobreist and Bonfacio? Throwing more innings as in getting over 70 innings of relief work. Many relievers don't seem to like more than 70-80 innings. Little distracted. Betance last year threw more than one inning 26 times. Don't think it had an effect.
  13. Why weren't you using an advanced metric rather than a team metric like ERA to prove your point?
  14. In regards to Cuddyer, I picked a name you might have recognized. Since you are the one with the issue of infielders playing outfield , prove it can't be done. You can't do it. Opinion once again stated as fact by a poster. Tonkin's average velocity on his fastball is unchanged somewhere just below 93. Top end was 97. Unchanged even though he is throwing more innings. The two problems with throwing more innings are a decreased velocity or too many innings. Neither has happened. The poor statistics are likely due to all the poor coaching and bad catchers who can not pitch frame rather than anything Tonkin does. I am sure if Searge were his coach and Molina his catcher he would be mentioned in the same breath as Miller, Davis and Robertson.
  15. On Tonkin. In some of his stints of longer than an inning he has faced fewer batters than he did when he pitched 1/3 of an inning. Is there a drop in his average velocity of his fastball, which is what you would expect if pitching to more than 3 batters an outing. Data. None from the calling foul party. Molehill being made into a mountain. Infielders made into outfielders. Sorry I didn't list every single player who has played multiple positions in the infield, outfield catcher and pitcher for you. Does it really take that kind of effort? I really also love the too big to be an outfielder argument so when he is the largest 3b ever not making plays it is suddenly rose colored glasses time with what is happening..
  16. 8 games is make or break. Like you say, people are free to comment on the totally illogical.
  17. Cuddy, Larry Chisenhal, Alex Gorden, and Ian Desmond are many of the former infielders who say hello from the outfield. Moving infielders to the outfield was not a TR invention. Tonkin pitched multiple innings in games last year , and in other years. in the minors. It is not like it is not something he hasn't done before.
  18. Minor league scouting reports were that he wasn't fast enough to be a CF but could adequately handle the position in a pinch. There was no other mention of him being terrible as a corner fielder, only that he lacked the power numbers. So scouting reports say one thing about his fielding, Is the 64 games this year a regression? I do not know.
  19. Silly me to not have gone further over the top in poking a little fun at Ashbury John's lighthearted appearing post.
  20. Meh, Dozier should be traded while his value is highest. Kepler is very productive in producing errors and fielding mistakes, Mauer is about the 20th best hitting 1b which is abysmal for his contract, Santana is the 4th starter on any good team. Kinzler is a lucky pickup by the front office.
  21. When it is about the major league club any accomplishment seems to get minimized. The keeping of Duffrey on the roster while struggling was ridiculed, followed by ridicule for sending him down. Any chance to take a shot is not missed. The negativity will not go away.
  22. Balls travel different going to left than right or center. Not the same. Many outfielders have made that claim as to why they prefer one side to the other. If running under a ball were so easy then Sano should have been able to play right.
  23. During their run the only defense first players that stuck as starters were middle infielders. Even those would be moved on from if their bats did not develop. Maybe what is missing is the extra work to get better. Maybe they do not have the talent to get better.
  24. It has been put forth many times Sano should be playing more 3b to get better. If that argument has any validity, it would hold true for Grossman. In the minors and majors Grossman has played in LF less than Sano has played 3b.
  25. your argument on AA would be a valid one if you could have picked out a player similar to Granite that worked out. . A week in the minors playing everyday or 2-3 games in the majors. Consistent time for Grossman and Rosario to see if they belong. The board argument was others should be playing over Santana. Well, they got their wish.
