    In outcomes for a player the lists miss all of the time.. In prdicting succes the results of these list past the top 20 are not very good.

    When the limitation are the great percentage of prospects that fail and the numbers of prospects with low or no rankings become good or great players that is a pretty severe limitation.

    Of the 390 players Sportrac has recorded as signing a contract from the 2019 draft that were drafted from rounds 11 on. 240 of them signed contracts 0f 50K or greater. The numbers shift dramatically after round 25. Of those 132 players, only 16 had contracts greater than 100K, 23 greater than 50K

    Truth is that baseball is a business. It is not a non profit business. Franchises wouldn't have the same valuations if they did not make money. Baseball has revenue sharing. Baseball loses over a million fans, the Twins lose some revenue. Twins increase the number of fans, about half goes into the revenue sharing kitty. It is not as big of gain as you would think increasing attendance. Using Forbes estimates on revenue per fan it would take shy of 40,000 new fans to generate a million dollars of money for the Twins bottom line. Now a million dollars is a lot of money to the average fan, except for the California Mortgage Broker, but in baseball salary that does not buy much of a free agent. The 2019 increase was about 345 thousand. It still left them plenty of room for more fans as they are a million fans short of a sell out.

    Having played a full season Young was not a prospect. Gomez, Humber and Guerra were all top 100 prospects Liriano and Bonser had been a top 100 prospect and had fallen out of the top 100 prior to the Twins trading for them. Natahan was not ranked If anything it shows that top 100 prospect lists do not mean much.

    Pineda signed a 2 year contract. The only way he is not back is bu anither PED suspension.

    Any player gets a signing bonus. Anything below 125,000 on the later rounds does not count per what I have read does not count in the bonus pool. There really shouldn't be a problem starting your career with enough money for a few years. Yet players sign for little of nothing for the privilidge of persuing a dream. It is their own fault

    How many times has Buxton hit the wall and had to leave the game or miss time from migraines. If you don't like the term injury prone there are other terms that are equally descriptive and accurate. Dofus prone?

    Luke Raley's value to the Dodgers may be that he is the disaster plan. He hit well in the International league. He has options so they can keep him around. The Twins have one more year of Jake Cave for that role and LaMonte Wade. Camargo is more like the draft pick than he is Raley. He has some tools but it is unknown if they will develop. The difference is the draft pick should have a better chance of reaching that level of development.

    One has to remember that the initial Graterol trade Graterol alone was Boston's choice, not the Dodgers. In trades where they can't settle on on a player cash has been exchanged. In the quite a few days renegotiating the trade they couldn't agree on the prospects coming back. The Twins FO threw out a number they thought was high and they came up with this number. 10 times the value of the cash value of what the pick is slotted for. The problem with that theory is that it undervalues Raley as a throw in. Raley is on the 40 man roster of the Dodgers. That is not throw in value for a WS contending team.

    That makes less sense for your reasoning as the ownership would make decisions based on the front office knowledge and research, not independent of it. Even doing their own research one would easily come up with the contract details.

    Maeda's contract was pretty well known for the bonus structure. There is no way the front office would assume he would only cost a base salary. Your guess is not educated.

    By the time Camargo develops Garver will be on the downside or DH. Anyone else one needs to remember prospect does not equal MLB player.

    That is what you think. Be mindful when you disparage others when you have no clue what led to the final outcome. The process could have been far different than what you think. You only know the final outcome

    I don't think there are 10 guys they could lose. They would only have to lose about 6 guys if they were built like Bartolo Colon. Or did you mean a figurative ton?
