  1. Add me to those who will be happy with 5 innings and 3 or less runs. Happy as a pig in you know what! Now if he does that, a) will the Twins pen keep the score at 3? And b) will the hitters score 4 or more runs?
  2. Thanks for the report, Steve. And I suspect you are right and we will learn a lot about the Twins plans when/if Festa gets the start tonight. Seeing Cleveland win nearly every game means the Twins are likely in the hunt for a wild card spot. Lee is a different player than Lewis. But he just might also be a special talent. Gotta wonder where he will be playing for the Twins later this year and beyond? Second base makes the most sense and that could give the Twins one heck of an infield.
  3. For me, it isn't just about individual player development as I like to see all the teams doing well. Hopefully, a few will make the playoffs and one will win it all every few years like the Kernels last fall. Was a disappointing start to 2024 as it wasn't that long ago that all the teams, except Cedar Rapids, were well under .500. After a couple great weeks the Saints have gotten over .500 and the Mussels as of Sunday are right at .500. Great seeing three of four full season teams in the winners column. Thanks for these reports, Ted. It is appreciated.
  4. Great seeing Keirsey back on the field. Remain hopeful that when the next outfielder is needed from St. Paul he is the one getting the call. Also great seeing Jenkins get his first big shot of the year. Kid missed a lot of time. Makes sense it will take a few weeks to get his bat going. Also liked Soto's outing. One heck of a prospect. Saw a brief mention above, but Regie Grace is again having a very nice season. Could see him with the Twins beginning later next year.
  5. Wanted to mention that Jenkins had a nice game for the Fort Myers squad with two hits and a walk. Really want to see this young man begin mashing it and moving up to the Kernels before year end.
  6. Are we certain Julien will ever return? I am not. And his play at St. Paul doesn't have anyone all that excited. Seems same old, same old.
  7. Also don't know that exact rule. But I believe the 27th player doesn't count as an official callup/option. So if you eliminate those, he could be recalled tomorrow. Falvey could drive over to St. Paul and meet with Varland and young Gardy. Say, "I know you want to start, Louis. But the Twins can't afford to blow any more games. We need you in our pen, today. You may pitch one inning in one game and three two days later. Next spring you will report as a starting pitcher. In the meantime, we want to win."
  8. Tight game and Rocco pitches Sands-Okert-Jackson. Guaranteed recipe for a loss. Bullpen needs something and fast. When will Stewart start a rehab stint? If the Twins are smart, they will bring Varland back tomorrow to replace Jackson.
  9. Commented about Lee yesterday which drew several responses about his hitting southpaws. Checked his splits this morning and it shows he has literally only a handful of at bats versus lefties. Well, he had three last night and they all were doubles in the left-center gap. Will agree with other comments, however, that are ok with his spending another month or so at AAA to gain more experience and get well beyond his injury. Expect as we get near the trading deadline, the Twins will find an opportunity to get something back for Farmer. That should open a spot to call Lee up and play him mostly at second. Willi can return to his super utility role and all should be good. Also, add me to those who noticed another terrible outing by Balazovic. So disappointing. Also see that Jenkins is struggling with the team formerly known as the Miracle. That is a bit surprising. Thanks for the report, Seth.
  10. And lets not forget Staumont. He seems to be coming along as this year's Stewart. If these guys all get healthy, that bullpen is gonna be what we thought heading into spring training.
  11. Considering there are what, 400 some position players the diffence between 33rd and 11th is minor. At least to me. Both are near the top. Thanks chpettit19.
  12. With Julien hitting a buck 60, sure looks like Lee is the next man up when an infielder is needed. Saw he was again at shortstop. Has he played any second base this year? Also saw Keaschall was again in center, where he has been most games of late. I don't see a problem bringing Lee up to replace Farmer. He would play second most games with Castro returning to his super utility role. I just don't understand why Lee isn't getting any games at second to prepare.
  13. Was thinking about Jackson and Thielbar yesterday. Expect neither is going anywhere until Steward and/or Topa are ready to rejoin the team. As I understand, Stewart is close to going on a rehab assignment and Topa has yet to throw off a mound. When they are ready, we will probably see Jackson DFA'd and Thielbar put on the injured list for some rest and time to figure out if anything is left.
  14. OK, Jeremy, your including Cijntje got me thinking. Is it legal for a pitcher to change arms for a new batter, ie, throw right handed to a right handed hitter and then left handed to the next guy who hits from the left side? Are there rules against that? Only problem I see would be developing a glove he could wear on both hands as pitchers can't call time out and go to the dugout to get a different glove.
  15. Can understand AK being quiet about his back. Considering how much time he has missed in the previous seasons, expect he just wants to play. Unfortunately, his body isn't cooperating. Also is now apparent that his back is why his production went south. Still believe this kid can be special when healthy. Problem is we may never know. Sat next to his high school teammate (shortstop) at last Saturday's game in Pittsburgh. Had a nice conversation about AK. Wish I could go back and ask him whether or not AK was healthy during those years?
  16. Interesting article, Nick. Certainly brought out the comments, eh? Count me among those who would love having Arraez on my team. Yes, he is limited to getting on first base. With all the numbers around today, found it interesting that no one mentioned how many runs he scores. I don't know, but gotta believe a guy who gets on base as much as he scores a lot of 'em. And last I heard, runs is what wins games. But talking about being great and/or overrated got me thinking about what I read on the front page of today's Strib. At the age of 93, Willie Mays left our world yesterday. Was thinking over my coffee about whether or not he was the greatest players, ever. Am old enough that I recall seeing him play. Only got to one Braves game each year and there weren't any regular games on tv. Maybe it was while watching an all-star game. Maybe one of those games at County Stadium, just can't remember. But he was flat out amazing. Personally, I don't know how you can compare Mays to say, Aaron, Mantle, Banks, Ruth, Williams, Gehrig, etc., to determine who was the greatest of all time. Suffice to say Mays was one hell of a player. As for your subject today, Correa is an excellent ballplayer and not overrated. At least in my opinion. Is he the best player in baseball? Probably not. But sure as heck one of them. Neither is Arraez, however, I don't think of him as one of the best in today's game.
  17. Can not disagree more, Cody, as to your including Prielipp and Canterino. Both are very talented and made a ton of sense at the time. Canterino has proven to be a top talent, when healthy. I continue to believe that both will someday be effective pitchers for the Twins. Whether that is as a starter or reliever remains to be seen, although both are more likely to be working out of the pen. My hope is that we still see Canterino later this summer and Prielipp next spring. Thought it was interesting that I made an unfavorable comment about Cavaco yesterday, then saw this morning that he had been released. Given that he was a relatively high pick, that remains a terrible decision. Regarding this subject, does anyone remember who was it, maybe something Lee, who worked his way into being a free agent by getting Mr. Ryan to forego sending him a contract? Or at least something like that.
  18. One of the best comments I have ever read, here or elsewhere. Loved it, tarheel. And from one old Army guy to another, thanks for your service in what had to be an absolute hell hole. As for C4, I continue to be most impressed with his defense. Until seeing him every day, didn't have a clue how good this young man is with the glove and his arm. Regarding the Mets, everything they have been doing since Cohen bought that team is flat out disgusting. At least in my opinion. I am elated every morning when I look at the standings and see them double digit games out of first place. Love it!
  19. Thanks Jeremy, your work regarding the draft is appreciated. As for specifics, I will wait until the draft and be surprised who the Twins take. Hopefully, this year will yield a couple future Hall of Famers. I can dream, can't i?
  20. I can't answer your entire question, but it is not A as the DSL Twins includes a lot of players from Venezuela and other Islands/countries in Central America, South America and the Carribean. See Lee was at third last night, Keaschall was DH. Great night for Wallner. I still want to see him continue hitting very well for at least another month. Prove this isn't just another hot streak. Or maybe a stretch of less than good pitching.
  21. Want to see the Saints and Fort Myers get to .500 and then above. Looked at several box scores. When I saw that Cavaco is hitting a buck forty-four, was just shaking my head. See Lee was again at shortstop and Julien at second. Seeing Keaschall again in center has me wondering, is he being moved to the outfield full-time? Have any of you guys in the know heard anything? Not a lot of at bats, but Acuna is hitting .450 with a +1,000 OPS. Doubt the Twins could be lucky enough to have this Acuna be as good as his brother, but we can hope. Can't we?
  22. Add me to those who would like to see at least another month of this type of production. Very likely when he does come back it could be his last chance. Lets give him some time.
  23. Always like to check to see who played where. See they continue having Lee at shortstop. Both Keaschall and Julien were at second base. Twins will likely have a very good second baseman next year. Who is anyone's guess? Took a look at Wallner's numbers. Still striking out about 35% of the time. Isn't it likely 35% would be closer to 50% back with the Twins? Just like Julien should stay down there until he figures out how to do something other than looking at strike three, Wallner should stay in St. Paul until he figures out how to reduce the number of K's. By a lot!
  24. Thanks, Seth. Count me among those looking for Martin to stick this time around. Love how he plays the game. Was in Pittsburgh this past weekend. On Saturday we sat next to a young man who was the shortstop on AK's high school team. Interesting conversation. Have a question regarding Jenkins. After missing two months, the kid needs to play. Do you think the Twins would consider moving him up to Cedar Rapids so he can play every day? Could be smart move considering how many games get cancelled in South Florida this time of year. Also, Seth. If you click on the Wichita box score it takes you to Cedar Rapids.
