    How close are Brooks Lee and Austin Martin to big league level? If anyone is counting on Buxton and Kirloff they are in for a letdown. Neither has shown the ability to remotely stay healthy much less be everyday players. If Lee and Martin are close you need to look at moving both Kepler and Polanco if it improves the rotation. Kepler has shown over and over that the end of the '23 season was an outlier. I also believe that you have to consider moving Lewis to the outfield if it improves the team. The depth is in the infield, Lewis could be hurt anywhere at anytime, that shouldn't be a consideration if he is capable of playing in the OF. However, trading to save money is a really poor approach.

    They could extend him with a contract offer a little higher than Lopez's. Burnes - Lopez would secure the SP for the next 4 years.

    There isn't a team out there that has 5 shutdown guys, the Dodger's with their 500 million payroll only have 3. The Twins absolutely need one more dependable arm, but at some point you need a lineup that can score runs. There were multiple opportunities in the Houston series where a clutch hit could have changed game 2 and 4. Would love to see them go get Corbin Burnes and figure out the OF and 1st. They are so close, open the purse strings just a bit and shore up the areas of need.

    It would be shortsighted on the FO to believe that they can fill the loss of Gray with internal candidates. I believe Paddock will be solid to start the season, but if they are fighting for the division come late August and September counting on Paddock being there is a mistake. It will be interesting to see how a competitive team is brought together with a significantly reduced payroll. If the answers to the many holes on the roster is believing Buxton, Kirloff, and Paddock are the solution, it could be long season. I don't understand the signing of Correa and then cutting payroll if you are truly committed to winning. We saw last year that this team was really close to beating Houston and moving on. Paddock could be a solid starter, but they absolutely need a proven arm to replace Gray. Then find answers to CF and 1st base.

    This team has a nice core of young players and a couple of productive/valuable veterans . The starting pitching should be very good again next year, especially if Paddock can stay healthy. The BP has a quality closer. That said, they need a 1st baseman, three outfielders and one middle reliever. You cannot count on Kirloff and need to move on. Wallner maybe… but realistically Buxton is done and Kepler cannot be trusted in playoff games. So three outfielders are needed unless they believe Taylor is a starter. That’s a lot of pieces to add. Also, still not sold on the manager, but winning a terrible central division and breaking the playoff losing streak keeps his job safe. Other than the last game I had no issues in his handling of any of the playoff games. Back to the last game… what was the plan if we tied or even managed a couple of hits and took the lead, the best arms were gone. Just didn’t understand pulling Ryan at the time and gopher throwing Theilbar backed that up immediately. The strikeouts are frustrating, but home runs seem to be the winning recipe in playoff baseball. It is hard to string multiple hits together against the quality pitching you generally face. Maybe a different approach with two strikes or when there are runners on base. Regardless, I do believe the future is bright if the front office makes some solid moves this offseason.

    Are they really worthy of playoff baseball? Seriously… any other division they are not making it…. But it’s the AL Central, so Rocco will get another year of pitching mismanagement. As far as this year… I expect the record setting playoff losing streak wend due to solid starting pitching.

    Would take Contreras' brother in a second... not sure if the Brewers traded for him or if he was signed as a free agent. But in all honesty, I thought the Vasquez was a good signing at the time.

    Not trying to be an ass... but you just are figuring this out? This team should be better than their record with the starting pitching they have. Yet Rocco finds new ways to lose a game or two on a weekly basis. The Brewers are playing loose, having fun, have a BP that performs at a major league level. make contact with RISP, and manager that they believe in... the Twinkies are the polar opposite. They are fortunate to be playing in a minor league division. It's a joke that they could be the playoffs with a .500 record... give or take a few games. This team should be better than this.... the FO decision not to add BP help and RH batter and a manger that is struggling at best doesn't bring much hope for the next few weeks.

    It's not one game. It's more systemic than that and has been on display for nearly three seasons. Last night was just another example of the many questionable decisions witnessed on a weekly basis. He has received a free pass due to player injuries, and to some extent that is true. Just my opinion, but lately there are more comments and concerns about his managing style and in game decisions. which is fair to question. After the game Ober vented and he isn't the first player to question being pulled... sounded like he wasn't aware of being on a limited pitch count... that is mind boggling these decisions are not relayed to the player. You may love the guy and think he is a great manager, that is your right. I don't dislike him or think he is an idiot.... but am definitely growing tired of the lack of execution and any resemblance of consistency. They can look like contenders for 3-4 games and then are lost for the next week. I find it hard to believe it is only a player issue.

    As the spouse of a Brewer fan... this game ended when he pulled Ober. Their BP is superior to ours. We lose 8 out of 10 games if we want to play the BP game with them. in one run games...especially after the 5th. And yes the world is still spinning... very thankful for that.

    Ober has pitched less than 120 innings this year. Hasn't pitched well in his last 4-5 starts. He's cruising through the last 4 innings, building some much needed confidence, and Rocco thinks this is a good time to pull him... at 78 pitches? Listen to Ober speak after the game... just like last year these starting pitchers, this years' are beginning to show their frustration with this guy's decisions. If you want to rest him, than push back or skip a start. Don't pull competitors from the game when they doing their job. Ober does have an injury history... so does every other starter. I would think the goal with him would be 170-180 innings this year. He realistically has 6-7 more starts in the regular season. I just don't understand why you pick that moment to "save" his arm. And to be clear.. this isn't one game where many of us are questioning his decisions. It has been on display for nearly 3 seasons.... and it doesn't end with only the pitching staff. The lack of fundamentals. revolving batting orders when they seem to have turned the corner, batting substations, the Joey Gallo lovefest this year, plate discipline or lack of possibly leading to a team record in strikeouts, sitting players in the final games of a series pretty much giving games away, are all IMO terrible managing decisions. If he thinks this team is playoff ready, he is sadly mistaken. If we were in any other division, we wouldn't even be competing for a wild card spot. His approach and decisions have taken a team that should be 15-20 games over .500 to struggling to maintain that mark. I believe it falls squarely on him...

    I am hardly complaining, just calling it as I see it. … it’s been three years of mediocre play (at best) from this team and IMO some really questionable decisions by the manager. Yes they will back into the playoffs, but there are a half dozen teams in the AL more deserving. There is no reason too be a .500 club with our starting pitching staff this year. The lack of creativity on offense, sloppy play at times, undisciplined plate approaches shoddy defense, and poor use of the BP ultimately fall on the manager. Whatever the reason, this team cannot put a decent string of solid baseball together.

    I don’t think that’s a stretch… whether it’s his decisions to pull pitchers too early or bring in the wrong arm… he has three plus years of pitching mismanagement under his belt… I will stick with that number

    Yet he keeps getting run out in high leverage situations. There are probably 12-15 losses pinned on questionable bullpen decisions by the manager

    The powerful Faedo with his 5.55 era throwing, like pretty much like every Tiger pitcher against us, a Cy Young performance. Gotta love the AL central.. where .500 makes you a division champion

    Just to be clear… this isn’t and never has been a playoff team… even though they likely make the playoffs. What a joke.

    IMHO, the biggest flaw is the weakness this lineup continues to display against left handed starting pitching … can’t even wto the BP against them in most games.

    Guessing there will be some significant changes after this disastrous season is put to rest. Thinking the GM’s were instructed to lay low… with their unremarkable track record of getting fleeced at the trading deadline and an incompetent manager running the sinking ship it was best to do nothing and do no more harm and let the next brain trust figure this mess out. At least that’s my hope.

    Does the FO have any credibility? Seriously he (Larnach) is one their perceived leaders… than they go onto keep Kepler and sign Gallo…. The OF is a disaster, left handed heavy with a weak hitter in Taylor. I have zero faith in the entire management team.

    We are 2/3 into the season, there is little to no hope of this team being anything other than a train wreck. I would like to know how many games have been lost with a QS posted… insane how bad this offense has been. The Royals series is a new low, worse than the Atlanta debacle. As long as Rocco continues to make meaningful decisions we are looking at the same incompetence. Under his leadership we are fundamentally doomed, he is the first piece that needs to go, followed by several other underperforming players. Realistically we should be moving all expiring contracts, but does anyone trust the FO…. This organization is just spinning their tires

    We’ve watched 2 1/2 years of poor decisions and lackluster play… so I think it’s a fair assessment

    Yep…. Racking up the losses against bad teams is a great look and a viable option for postseason success, if they get there

    4 L’s in a row… inching back too sub .500, which still might be good enough to win the division… but if I were a betting person, I am betting on Cleveland…. This team is just not fun to watch

    Other than the players they gave up for Lopez…one of them an all star less than a year later. Between the Lopez and Mahle trades , extending Rocco and the signing and refusing to DFA’ing Gallo the FO Iis pretty much a joke IMO
