  1. Mauer is actually having a good year and if you resign him for 2 years at $5 - $7 million a year, could work well. Gordon needs to play and if we lose Polanco, that may be the price we pay. Right now I am fine with Escobar and Alehandro at SS. With Santiago coming off the books along with some of the intermediate signings this year(and Gibson if you do not tender him), you should be able to buy 1 mid level starter(would like them to aim higher, but not as likely this year). Bullpen needs to be the #1 prioritiy, get the kids up now and lets see what they have. Spending this offseason will be much easier if some of the kids turn out to be good pieces. Get Sano signed long term, if you cannot sign him long term, you have a completely different set of issues going forward, in fact I would try now and this should have been done this month(this is a major fail by the FO).
  2. Yes, but will the checkbook be open enough to fill the holes. Twins need to buy at least 1 major starter among other issues with the pen.
  3. If Twins FO can improve this team without giving up a higher level prospect - this is more of a rental type, go for it. To empty out the upper end to get 1-2 players and still not be sure they will make it in thw long run is short sighted.
  4. No Braves have too many of that type
  5. If Twins are taking all the salary, hope the prospect is more of a low ceiling type of guy. Would expect that is what it is.
  6. As of 7:14 this morning mlbtraderumors has reported the deal has not been finalized. May be a medical thing or maybe teams cannot agree on player/players in the deal.
  7. I am hoping it is not one of our AA starters.
  8. I would expect his price would be higher than Hand, Britton might well cost less.
  9. Blylevan was here at 19, with his main pitch a 12 to 6 curve ball. From what I have read, Enlow has that type of curve ball, so if he can spot the fastball and use the curve ball, he would only need the third pitch to be really effective. That type of pitcher could rise quickly.
  10. Twins will probably need a starter. Cahill will probably cost too much, but worth a look. Heard Moore's velcosity is down, but would check on his price. If cheap enough, jump on it.
  11. I am in the make minor moves group. Selling would be a horrible message to the young core and give them a reason not to stay here.
  12. Enlow is the type of pitcher who could move up fast, depending on fastball control. Good to see him get started.
  13. Actually Britton might be less expensive than Brach, money plus control
  14. If Polanco could net me a Liriano type starter I would be estactic.
  15. I am more for trading Polanco or Escobar and bringing Gordon up. He has more upside than any of the other two.
  16. Gibson is now you basic 5th starter and he will have good and bad starts. He also is rapidlly become a nontender candidate so will not be a Twins issue after this year. This could all change after some more good starts, but he is running out of chances. Colon was promised something to get him to sign here, so baring a couple of horrible starts in Rochester, he will get at least 2 - 3 starts for the Twins. One of the current Twins starters will be elsewhere at that time.
  17. I am in the boat of being both buyers and sellers depending on where Twins are in the next two weeks and how players perform. Unless Twins fold in the next two weeks trading Santana as much as this board likes the idea is off the board. Polanco is at an all time low in value, but him and a mid level prospect could fetch something. Dozier will not bring back a major piece, but Polanco could be of interest with a prospect for a starting pitching from TB. They seem to have more depth there than most teams. If the Twins fall apart Santana could be dealt to the Yankees as they have a deep farm system(as does Boston) that could pick up a major prospect or two. More likely Twins add a bullpen piece or two and call it good.
  18. There could be another possibility. Polanco looks totally lost at this time, so if he has an option left you could send him down and keep Granite here for a while, using Escobar and the other backup infielder to play shortstop for a few weeks. At the current time Polanco is hurting the team with his hitting and needs to regroup.
  19. This could be for a few days to give the outfielders each a break, or Mauer may not be ready in Houston, so he could play against a tough rightly and sit Buxton for a day. It will be interesting. Maybe move Kepler to 1B and spell Vargas. Just the time of year to give players a day off here or there until Mauer comes back or a fifth starter is needed.
  20. No Curtis and Reed have not been up yet, Bard is also a possibility
  21. Not going to argue with the point above, but number of leads handed away by this bullpen is awful. Rotation may be able to be fixedif not now offseason). Bullpen needs to be fixed now.
  22. Assuming Dozier is allowed to leave and Polonco moves to second that fixes one hole. You cannot ever have too much talent and if it becomes an issue you have very valuable trade bait to fix other holes. I do not ever worry about too much talent.
  23. agreed, pen has already given away too many games. Either bring up the kids(my preference) or spend some mid level farm assets on pen pieces from clubs out of the race. This should be done sooner rather than later. Number of pitchers Molitor trusts in the late innings is about 2(Rogers and Kinzler). They will be burnt by September.
  24. I also feel the Twins should actively market some mid level unneeded prospects to some of the orgainizations under penalty for their bonus pool money and use it to improve the depth and upside of the farm system.
