  1. Still same old bullpen. We need to fix this now, before the season goes away. If I am an opponent my game plan is to stay close and win late.
  2. Maybe we took a bite from the wrong tree. Check out the Tampa Bay tree. Bloom, doing well in Boston, Friedman, doing very well in LA, Fardi from Friedman in DF. Sure there will be failures from this tree, but look at the sucess.
  3. Only fix is to fire Baldelli and bring Rowson in. He has a chance of at least fixing the hitting. Something is off. It usually starts with the manager.
  4. For those that have not noticed the season is quickly slipping away and a few things need to be done now to try and right the ship. If this season goes off the rails the Twins could be forced to sell Berrios and Buxton (whose contracts both end after 2022) for pennies on the dollar. Both could decide to go to winning teams on the coast for mega contracts, with the Twins maybe only able to retain Buxton by paying him Trout money. 1. Fire Rocco and bring Rowson in as manager/hitting coach, This is usually the first step, but curious managing decisions in extras have forced this move. 2. Send out some of the lower half of the bullpen, Thielbar for one needs to go to the minors and maybe a few more and bring up some of the flamethrowers, even if they can't find the strike zone all the time. It is hard to hit high heat for most major leaguers. Law who was requested by a few does not fit my bill, Chambers (who may be too far away and his ilk are more like it). 3. Start looking for deals for players like Rooker and others to second division rebuilding clubs with a eye on getting good relievers/closer types in return (others take the 15 - 30 prospects (at least some of them)). 4. Consider trading Kepler (whose contract should be desirable to even cheap ballclubs to make room for Laurach), he looks like the best contact/power hitter to me.
  5. Great article. Maybe Rocco is planning on using his relievers for multi innings more than less. Outside of Duffy, who seems to be the put out the fire now reliever in the Twins pen, he has about 3 to 4 other relievers that can go 2 innings and maybe pitch them every 2 - 3 days. Should be fun.
  6. If you figure Arraez will play LF 3 days a week (if he doesn't there is something wrong here), there are only 4 days to cover with Arraez playing 2nd the other 3 days or third. That leaves Cave playing about 3 times a week and Garlick 1 until Kirloff comes up. We shall see.
  7. I could see the Twins putting Happ on the 10 day DL due to need to ramp up from COVID, that would let Dobnak start a couple of times before Happ is ready, otherwise Dobnak will probably be mopping up the bad Happ starts.
  8. right now I think Law has won a spot, and 2 of the other 3 will be sent down.
  9. If Kepler continues to be a dead pull hitter, do not see a major future here. And agree he may have more value to a building team in center field in return for pitching assets that do not fit that teams timeline. He is not a bad player, wonder like a lot of the rest of this forum, if Kepler will be passed this year when Larnach is ready (not the defender, but much better hit tool). Using the whole field can be learned, but he is running out of time.
  10. I think given the current situation, both above are low. I would be looking more at 6/90 - 100. Gives the Twins security (plus risk), and lets Buxton still explore the market before he is too old. I may be on the high side, but Twins have a lot of replaceable parts and players in the first 3 years at the start of this deal. Let's get it done.
  11. I could see Rooker + for Rodrequiz, we need another big arm in the pen and Rooker at this point will only be here at most this year before roster crunch gets him. (this is if you believe in Sano).
  12. Rooker is a good player, who I don't see finding a home here, unless the Twins give up on Sano. More likely a trade piece to a club like the Pirates for a pitcher. (and only one of several pieces).
  13. This was the reliever I did not want. We shall see how he does, just feel that the bust factor is larger with him than any other reliever.
  14. Good to have him back. Still need one more tough starter or reliever. Out on Odo, (don't need a 3 year deal starter), but either Paxton or Walker on a one year deal for 8 - 10 million is fine for me. Don't see a reliever out there outside of Rosenthal who could move the needle, but feel they need someone on the upper end to help. Relievers tend to be year to year types, so am Ok with one year deals. Just need a better reliever than just another arm.
  15. Keith Law has Balazovich rated about 20+ spots higher than Duran. I also feel he should be rated higher. Either or both could make contributions here this year, so it will be interesting.
  16. I think Kiriloff will be the Twins starting left fielder. We are going to have to fight for the division this year, so let's not get behind the 8 ball early.
  17. I agree with this, but with Polonco, Aarraez, Rooker, Kirloff, Donaldson, and Sano to rotate thru DH not to mention Jefferies or Garver on the days they are not catching Twins have plenty of DH options Spend the money on pitching.
  18. Like this move as there is no long term commitment, but would like to keep him against Buxton leaving. Either Polance or Arraez could be the utility guy (play 5 - 6) days a week. Saving runs also works.
  19. I am just ok with this move, if he hits a steep decline, you can just cut ties, if he pitches ok he is worth the $8. Better than tying up $12 million a year for 3 or 4 years and then have the pitcher fall off a cliff. Also, you give you up and coming pitchers a year to see what they have and some of them will be here later this year or early next. But then please add a very good reliever or two. Most of the ones I wanted have already been signed.
  20. I would consider it, but would want an extension in place. Otherwise two or three top prospects for a 2 year pitcher is a no for me. And top end would probably start with two of the Twins top 5.
  21. One thing I am wondering is the claim that many pitchers are doctoring the baseball (this is part of the lawsuit by the dismissed visiting clubhouse manager). I have always wondered if part of late 20's, early 30;s revival is from finding a way to hide the doctoring and how many pitchers are doing it. If baseball comes down on this, we may get to see what the true pitchers look like in some cases, though pitch selection and mechanical changes probably also have an effect.
  22. I am still with Xfinity, package is decent, but somewhat expensive. We will see in the future, AT&T is an option if you carry their cell phone service also, but I can't stand that service. We shall see in a year.
  23. Great article, a lot of good points. Have seen a game in Cedar Rapids, very good facility. Be nice that the new Twins affiliates are closer, so could see some players earlier at not a great cost.
  24. If Rosario's agent is smart this is the year to take a team friendly offer. There are a lot of players going to be non-tendered, and all offices know what they are getting. Best reason not to is that the White Sox and Indians might be in, but the Indians only if cheap. Difficult position.
  25. Outside of Walker who might have a bit of an upside, if you do not resign odo, you are looking at a Morton, who will be expensive or maybe a Kluber if you think he has something left in his tank. Not a good position to be in, but you cannot leave two starting spots to rookies or second year players. Dobnick is a great story, but is he an illusion or one year wonder. We have seen a lot of those. Like a lot of others here Bauer would be nice, but doubt they will spend the money for an ace. And if they do, what other choices and holes are created to make the budget work.
