  1. The Front Office and Org for the most part are the same: Other than a couple departures: TR was the only notable one, the rest of the organization is the same. So it's not shocking at all that the same AAA field staff, scouts, assistants to the GM (Antony) etc continue to bungle pitching prospects. Again Falvey didn't address the SP situation at all. FA market was rough? Then make a trade. Trade market for Dozier wasn't good enough (Highly highly debatable)? Then trade another asset for SP. Falvey did nothing in the off-season to make this team better, and that is a real shame. All it would have taken was a trade for a #3 to actually make this rotation look somewhat legitimate. As of now, it has negative depth, two complete black holes in the rotation (Gibby and Tespech) and Hughes, though solid so far could fall off any second (due to injury) So far at the helm in making the team better (which is really what the GM/VP of baseball or whatever the titles are) job I give them: For 2017: D (It would be an F, but at least they didn't do something stupid like trading Sano) For 2018-2022: F (They literally did nothing to make the team and org better in the future)
  2. Falvey had an entire off-season to address the pitching. Instead he did nothing. They did take one SP with upside (Duffey) and put him in the pen, which was perplexing to say the least. Color me unimpressed with Falvey's pitching strategy.
  3. The same "new" Front Office that was gushing about Kyle Gibson and how he would have a good year. Yeah, color me unimpressed. The crappy thing is, this lineup, defense is good enough to "hang in the hunt", if they would have actually tried to address the SP (even just a single signing or trade) and the rotation would be in much better shape, potentially even good enough to keep the team in the hunt. As of now though? We have an ace (so far) in Santana, and a couple of #4/#5's in Santiago and Hughes. You need more than that to compete. Tespech, Mejia, Gibson? None of them are anything more than AAAA types at this stage. Duffey is the one current guy who could help out, but of course he is getting the Trevor May treatment. Berrios should be up. If he sucks again just send him back down, Gibson has options, or just put Gibson in the pen. Or just DFA him, when he continues to pitch this bad the rest of the year, there is no way the Twins will or should goto arb with him anyways.
  4. /Checks 2017 major league stats Yup! This checks out!
  5. Well the point of the whole thread is why isn't Berrios in the rotation at all. But I will give you another answer to satisfy your off topic question: #4 pitcher: Berrios #5 pitcher: literally anyone not named Kyle Gibson. Loads to choose from! Duffey, Mejia, Tespech, or another 20 guys on the waiver wire or guys who literally can't be any worse than Gibby.
  6. /Checks Kyle Gibson's line Old plan sure looks like the new plan!
  7. Housekeeping question: since topics re: Murphy can't be kept in the Twins forum, I assume that is because he is in the minor leagues?? That is fair I suppose, but I do wonder why threads about Berrios are allowed in the Twins forum? He too is in the minor leagues. I just want to make sure the proper rules are followed.
  8. I know TwinsDaily has to bury all things like this (less you upset the Twins brass) But as braveheart once said; You can try to bury the truth, but you can't silence it or take the truth that trading Hicks was a massive mistake!
  9. Hicks is 28 and one of the best hitters in all of baseball so far. If a guy always had upside, you can't write them off until 29-30 IMO. If they never had upside? 27 seems fair
  10. Clearly Berrios isn't pitching to contact enough. Probelm solved!
  11. Judging young rookies (especially pitchers) in their first cup of coffee is beyond short sighted and dumb. Even more confusing is why an org will stick with CF who are clearly not ready (for 2+ seasons) and go out of their way to trade talented or at the very least decent (Revere) CF already on the roster (span, revere, hicks) Yet when it comes to a rotation, the minute a youngster struggles, its back to the minors with you! While giving too many starts to the Blackburns, Hernandez's, Pelfreys, Gibson's, Nolasccos of the world. Does. Not. Compute. Also the Twins clearly don't know how to manage pitching prospects anyways, name me the last Twin player they drafted and turned into a legit SP capable of being more than a #4/#5 for a couple years (that disqualifies gibson and Blackburn fwiw)
  12. And everyone comes from a town in the northeast called Nantucket?
  13. Put Gibby into the pen then. I don't care. Just get BERRIOS INTO THE ROTATION!
  14. And yet by some weird coincidence Berrios remains buried in AAA, Gibby is pitching every 5th day and Danny Santana is somehow in the majors getting two starts a week.
  15. Something called "resistance report" tends to make me think that maybe, just maybe, maybbbeeee they aren't shooting with straight dice. I'd suggest snopes.com or Washingtonpost to either confirm or deny this. If this is #fakenews, I would like to state that fake news is just as harmful if it is coming from the right OR left.
  16. Apparently TwinsDaily becomes XXXDaily after 11:30?
  17. The $150 I put on the Twins to win it all at 200:1 looks a little better right about now!
  18. Yeah, I realize that, but the problem is that 95% of the org remains in tact, especially in the minors. As much as people like to believe (like the Donald) that the GM of an org has unlimited power, the reality is that the Twins problems ran much much much deeper than just TR. The fact that they continue to bury Berrios in AAA while giving Gibson and others innings proves this (along with having Bad Santana on the roster over Park or Vargas to start the season...)
  19. Yeah, and a couple months later I said I was 100% wrong and Dozier has been one of my favorites ever since! Listen, Kepler is awesome, he already is awesome, but his upside is that of a fine steak house. Rosario? Vargas? Grossman? Solid players, but their ultimate upside is that of a decent chain steakhouse (like Longhorn steak house) More importantly Kepler's midpoint is that of a damn good restaurant (133 OPS+), something like Butcher and the Boar. Rosario? Grossman? Their midpoint is probably closer to a mid tier buffet, like a Golden Corral or Country kitchen for arguments sake.
  20. Yup, and what do we have to show for them moving forward: Gibson- Should be cut Tonkin- 6th inning type is his ceiling at this point Rogers- mehhhhhhhhh Duffey- Has some upside left, should get another shot at starting, but likely will get the Trevor May treatment by this club.
  21. Sorry Brock, I can't take your young OF "takes" seriously ever since you told me that Hicks was a worse player than Danny Santana. Once upon a time Hicks "never would have been able to hit RHP, why even play him against them?" What has he done in 2017? Just a little 1.280 OPS with 4 HR (HR every 6 at bats) Kepler is/was as raw as they come as a prospect, he was 16 out of Germany when they signed him, he is barely 24 now and is rocking a nice 133 OPS+ already. Look at how far he has come every single freaking year. Sorry I'm not buying your "he will never be able to hit lefties" non sense.

  23. /looks at Gibson being tossed out every 5th day like clockwork //picks up rochester newspaper, checks out Berrios line [source needed]
  24. Excellent point, if there is one thing we have learned since the inception of TwinsDaily (and all of those zero playoff appearances) it's that the Twins have always, always, without exception known what they are doing with pitching across the board: Young, Old, etc doesn't matter. Only the 90's Braves can possibly be compared to these teams in term of success with starting pitching and pitching as a whole..
  25. Hicks has 14 walks and 52 at bats. That's over 20%. He also has a HR in every 10.02/at bats That's not just getting "inexplicably walked from time to time" dude is locked in.
