  1. It depends, teams that are "out" of it will typically call up more, since there will be more playing time available on meaningless games more or less. Teams "in it" will call up less, since they want to run their best 9 and best 5 out nearly every game from here on out. The Twins likely will only need to add 2 or 3 pitchers tops (just as extra insurance, anything more than that is overkill) As far as the non pitching goes, the bench is already small, so I would guess 5 hitters come up. One extra catcher (Pinto) One UTIL/INF type: polanco or Santana (though I could see both coming up) And a couple hitters: Kepler, Vargas, Arcia Finding at bats for all of those guys will be tough though. Most likely looking at a PH appearance a couple times a week each or so.
  2. I don't see him getting called up, I get that you want more bench bats this time of year (especially for the Twins) but I think Vargas, Arcia, Pinto and Kepler will be those "guns" off the bench. NTM Hunter. I'd rather they use the open 40 man spots for pitchers who can help.
  3. Jason Wheeler and Aaron Thompson could both easily be removed from the 40 man roster. Tonkin is another guy who the Twins could afford to lose. instead of wasting a roster spot and 40 man spot on Fryer, for 3rd catcher, why not just call up Pinto to serve as the emergency catcher, he at least has enough of a hit tool where he could be an asset as a PH, no? I know his defense isn't to the Twins liking, but as 3rd catcher it wouldn't be a whole lot of innings anyways. That allows Berrios and someone like Hamburger to take the easily opened 40 man roster spots.
  4. Didn't see or follow any of the game, but 3-0 with sano out? Color me impressed! Keep up the good work.
  5. By my count the Twins are 10 games over .500 vs teams not named the Yankees or Brewers. They play zero games down the stretch against those teams, by my fuzzy math they should be fine
  6. Meyer still has hope, but he shouldn't be counted on to being an asset for 2016, Milone, Duffey, Berrios, and May all should be IMO
  7. You forgot Gibson. So that leaves one spot for Milone, May, Duffey and Berrios. All four of which are better starting options at this point then Santana or Nolasco.
  8. I wanna come up for a jets game this year
  9. Berrios should be starting opening day next year. Service time be damned, they already "saved" a year with Sano and Buxton, they can pay a few extra bucks for Berrios when the time calls for it.
  10. They need to find a way to trade one of Santana or Nolasco. One in the rotation isn't an issue. Two very much is. I would take shields here in a heartbeat.
  11. Also: Twinsnorth/GCTF, the Canadian dollar being weak is a bummer for you guys, but damn if it isn't a nice change of pace for coming north of the border for us Yanks!
  12. Sigh, here is the deal, nobody is happier than me that the Twins have played well lately. 1. I have been banned for the last week. Otherwise I would have been here celebrating with the rest of you. Also, Vodka is nasty, the only time I drink it is when it is in a bloody mary/bloody Caesar, I am a bourbon/rye fan myself, and not crappy whiskey, good whiskey, in fact I am in the middle of purchasing a whole set up to make a little bit. (Scotch is ok as well, it is definitely an acquired taste that I am trying to get into more and more) 2. I eat, sleep, breathe, bleed Twins just as much as any of you here. 3. I was one of the most optimistic people on this board overall the past few years (and at BYTO to be honest). Especially when it came to Ryan and Gardy. 4. I have been in Vegas and Canada the past 7 days, and the Twins are a big reason why I have managed to win $1500 or so the past week due to bets on them and various parlays, 5 wins in a row as an underdog (several times as a very heavy dog is awesome!) Nothing like quadruple dipping (Work Trip= Salary+Expenses+Hotel/Airline/CC points+Gambling wins!) 5. I win $15,000 off of $135 worth of bets if they win the world series and $5,000 if they make the world series. So no, the Twins being on a winning streak does not make me "unhappy" 6. I have been to Twins playoff games every year they have made it since 1991. Even though I haven't lived within 500 miles of Minneapolis at any point in my life. If they make it again this year, I will be there again as well. My fandom shouldn't be questioned. Period. Go Twins! Buxton+Sano= 5-0 Call up Berrios, like now. Escobar gets a temporary reprieve from me, he has apparently looked solid.
  13. The best contract Ryan has signed in the past few years has been the Dozier one, and that one isn't even that great since it didn't buy out any free agent years and at best saves the twins a few million dollars. Every other contract has been pretty much between "meh to poor" But it hasn't doomed the Twins, it is part of the reason but not the full reason, they still have payroll flexibility but refuse to pull the trigger on any legitimate trade. Those two things combined have doomed this franchise to one of the biggest laughing stocks of the league these last 5 seasons.
  14. FWIW his MLB OPS though terrible still is 70 points higher than Hunter since August 1st. Equal since the all star break. We of course don't know how Buxton will fare, however I am pretty confident that he wouldn't be any worse at this point, plus you get the added bonus of developing a large part of your future.
  15. And a temporary brain lapse made me realize that I forgot Buxton! Who is the most ready of all of the options and the one guy who could jump start this team potentially and get them back on track. FREE BUXTON!
  16. He has a .531 OPS since July 1st even with them playing him less and less. Since August 1st it's even worse at .470. Unfortunately we are seeing the end of Hunter, it was a good run, but these things happen when a player hits 40 these days. I just don't see how the Twins can even hope for him to post a .750 OPS, doing that would be a minor miracle at this stage. Which means the Twins really need to figure out how to fix RF, they have plenty of internal options who deserve a shot (Arcia, Kepler, etc) and there are some guys on the waiver wire currently that could at least fill in, or be a platoon guy etc (Garrett Jones)
  17. your random obsession with me is adorable
  18. When do we start to get concerned about Perk? If he cuts his blown saves and losses in half this second half a lone the Twins are still in a playoff spot
  19. seems to be the theme of 2015 in general in regards to May.
  20. Apparently the Yanks Bullpen is done at this point. Miller can maybe go one more inning and then perhaps it's Sabathia time.
  21. Jepsen is solid, it's the rest of the bullpen not named Perkins I worry about. I'd bring him back out for the 10th if it's still tield for sure. Then Perk for 11/12, then pray for rain?
  22. Good work Jepsen! Now just to PH Vargas for Suzuki and we can end this game soon! Oops
