    It's really hard to give the Twins the benefit of the doubt on this though after they have misdiagnosed dozedns of injuries in the recent past, when you go cheap on doctors and hire Dr Nick this is what happens all the time.

    The only thing I regret at this stage is that Sano didn't hit the catcher square and knock his freaking ass out. Sano literally did nothing wrong (nor did ANY of the Twins player period) The original HBP was clearly clearly clearly clearly an accident. Any retaliation on the Twins was uncalled for, especially against the best player on the team. Again I wish Sano would have gotten his money's worth and at least knocked a clown out on the tigers.

    I'd say "boringly average" Which is fine. I would KILL for a rotation and bullpen full of that currently!

    I love Dozier as a player, but signing him to a 4-5 year 90-120 million extension is not a smart move for this club.

    Ben Revere netted us a high upside starting pitcher at the time (May) Players like polanco net good players all the time, he could definitely bring back a top 50-75prospect or two.

    Not currently, but there was a lot of chatter a year or two ago when he was tearing up the minors about him having #2 upside (hell go back and look at the threads here, people were calling him a future ace, I said he had #2 upside instead and got skewered for being negative on him)

    I already answered this: you look to trade Polanco for some much much much much much much much much needed high upside SP help.

    Disagree, Gibson was always viewed as a Safeish prospect, upside of a #3 unless he went all Brandon webb on the league. Berrios has fringe #1 upside, but more realistic #2 upside.

    Yeah giving up Hu drove me bonkers when it happened. Ugh. Almost as pointless as sending along Meyer in the Santiago trade and Bartlett in the Delmon trade. Doh!

    But you have still said more than once that Santiago is mediocre, shouldn't be on the team, right? Or is that in re: Gibson (I would agree if that is the case)

    I'd shop them both aggressively, along with Ervin Santana and Santiago. Santana, Dozier, Santiago NEED to be traded by this deadline assuming the Twins are "out of it" if they are in the hunt then perhaps you keep em around and take a run at it. Polanco should be traded if the price is right, I think the Yankees are an excellent candidate (plus the Yanks don't need a 2B currently IMO)

    Plenty of people rather high up in the org are still in the organization, so far this year, the "new" regime looks a whole lot like the old regime IMO. Same manager, the #2 FO guy is still around along with most of the scouts etc who likely gave info on this trade. People bring up past signings, past trades, past whatever all the time! Hell, didn't you start a thread about Santana being a great pitcher? He was signed by the old regime, why bring that up? Are we only allowed to talk about the "good" things that the old regime did? Additionally the Hicks trade debate has been going on for a year or so, it's interesting to follow and it's all in good fun (especially since Glunn and I have a friendly bet and everyone was telling me that there was no way Hicks could keep it up) Additionally JR Murphy is still in the org, we have no real 4th OF, our starting CF has a .300 OPS, so the trade is still relevant. Of course, it's your choice to lock the thread, do what you want but if you do it absolutely REEKS of hypocrisy.

    Hu got promoted to the majors today FWIW Was the 7th best Rays prospect coming into this year. I'd much rather have him in the rotation then Gibson, and he would look pretty nice right now for SP depth on a team that has zero.

    He looks solid all around and can definitely handle SS. With Nick Gordon having a 2018 ETA, I'd actually shop Polanco to a team like the Yankees to try to get some young SP help in return. It's gutsy no doubt, but the Twins need some high upside SP, and with the Yanks in contention and no long term solution at SS it might be the perfect time.

    I'd suggest you do the math on that one, because you are off by quite a bit. Prior to 2016 Santiago posted 3 straight seasons of sub 4.00 ERA STARTING pitching. Yeah, he was never a top of the rotation guy for sure, but feel free to name me 3 Twins starting pitchers who were able to put up 3 straight seasons of sub 4.00 ERA for this club in the last 15 years. Santiago should only be off this roster if the Twins are able to trade him. He's one of the three pitchers I actually feel ok about currently on this club (and 2nd best overall IMO)

    Duffey might not have a future in the rotation, but he sure as hell has a better chance then Gibson at this point! People want to bring up Gibsons one "not terrible year" where he had a 3.84 ERA and 6.7 k/9 as a reason to keep him in the rotation, but completely ignore Duffey's 2015 where he had a 3.10 ERA and 8.2 k/9 and say he doesn't deserve another shot in the rotation? Weird!! People still think Gibson can "figure it out" but Duffey can't be a starter, even though Duffey is almost 4 years younger? Interesting! For as bad as Duffey's results were last year (and they were bad!) it should be noted he had an xFIP of 3.89, which was significantly better than Gibsons 4.50. WHOA! Why doesn't Duffey deserve another crack at the rotation again? I am confused. 4 years younger. More success at the major league level Better Pitches. Under team control cheaper/longer. If the Twins had 5 solid starters and were a true contender I would understand the desire to keep Duffey in the pen all year...but come on, on no planet should Duffey be stuck in the pen when you have Kyle Gibson giving up a run an inning every start! FREE DUFFEY!

He has as many Home Runs as strike outs! 10 walks! 4 HR. Murphy's 2017 MLB line: .000/.000/.000 Murphy's 2017 AAA line: .136/.240/.182 for a .422 OPS Aaron Hicks 2017 WAR: 0.8 Murphys Career MLB War: 0.4 The Twins current OF: Rosario 2017 WAR (negative) 0.2 Buxton 2017 WAR (negative) 0.2 Danny Santana 2017 WAR (negative) 0.1 Kepler 2017 WAR 0.8 (Imagine if we had another guy playing like Kepler!) Thankfully we have some real nice 3rd catcher depth at AAA though!
