The pipeline has plenty of potential. Lets not forget about the guys that have had so much success that they were traded away by penny pinchers to get more pipeline potential. The business end of this seasons’ sell off still bites.

Twins Minor League Report (9/20): Saints Win Second in a Row
Fatbat replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I can’t think of a reason to not have WJ and Erod on the opening day twins roster. They will sell tickets and they have the highest ceilings. well. Health or lack of it might be a reason.- 17 replies

Just a reminder that what works one season isn’t necessarily the best going forward. There is a laundry list of players that may be average MLB’s and a shorter list of high upside MLB prospects that are very close to becoming MLB’s with positive WAR and OPS+. There is no reason to play the Outman’s and Miranda’s instead of the high upside guys. The future is definitely brighter with KCulpepper, WJenkings, Erod, Gabby etc in MLB than watching Outman, Fitzgerald, Julien, Miranda, Gasper, Roden and so many more dudes that can’t hit for average and aren’t elite Defensively. It might be harsh but why waste time by playing someone that just isn’t very good. Planning for 2026 should include TL or Wallner to take over LH ab’s at 1B. Clemons is fine platooning but so far, he is far from a fulltime 1B guy. 2B should be LK until if/when he becomes mortal. Pencil him in. SS is Lee’s for the short term. he is destined to be the utility guy. Planning for KCulpepper should have already begun. 3B is Lewis’s. Pencil him in because he is likey to have a monster ‘26. Healthy and happy days at the hot corner. The OF should include 3 rookies and Buck. 5th OF can be split between TL and Wallner. DH is a bunch of rotating Dudes, Martin because he gets on base and should steal bases. His defense is sketchy. TL and Wallner can also rotate in as well as any hot bat. C is Jeffers and insert any young guy for 35 games. If Jeffers goes down with a long term injury, we might be in trouble. This is all assuming that no actual MLB position players (with above average track record) will be signed. Sad, kind of, but way worse if the Juliens get Gallo type run at the full season.

Erod and Raya are on the 40 man and several more young guys will be added to avoid rule 5 draft losses. The FO shopping at the thrift store doesn’t do it for me. If they won’t pay MLB players a salary to stay, then just play 22-25 yo’s on minimum salary they may become superstars and solid role players. The same immediate result but much higher ceiling potential as they develop.

Making a competent bullpen is gonna be tough! They will no doubt sign a few random dudes, throw them into the spring training wash and see who makes the team. A ton of prospects will also see innings until they fail. The twins need a legitimate leadoff hitter. A competent #2 guy and thats not going to happen until the prospects mature. TL and Wallner need to be playing less and WJ, Erod and Gabby need to be in MLB. Go young and trust the development of the youngsters!

Cody is out of options so he is either on the 26 man or off the 40 man. Seems simple enough that he would be on the 26 until he crashes. He may be a late bloomer that simply improves on his ‘25 season and has an even better ‘26.

Some critics probably will never get on the Jenkins train. It would be great to see Jenkins at Target field along with Erod and Gabby. Wallner and Buck can mentor them 3 and have Rosario in St.Paul if anything goes sideways. Any why isn’t Rosario learning 1B? If the org is going to punt on raising payroll, play ALL the potential stars of tomorrow!!

Its a good baseline list but the afore mentioned names (BW &CS) and the ‘26 1st round draft pick will definitely be top 5 ish so thats 8 guys. Houston could make the opening day roster in ‘27. Also we could be looking at a comp pick and the 2nd rounder in ‘26 being in the top 10.

So the Pohlads basically paid off the creditors by selling part of the future profit/loss to 2 investor groups. I have heard of some where in the $450M range total.

We have enough position player prospects to fill holes. The biggest holes are 1B and back up catcher. Jeffers can catch 120 games and you start ‘26 with a veteran minor league backup not named mickey gasper. Bring Tait up to AA and push him to AAA if he still hits. By July the kid could be brought to the show to learn from Jeffers. He is bat first and anything he contributes is a bonus. 1B is probably where we could go shopping for a vet. get stability there instead of tinkering with puzzle pieces. Tons of kids to build an outfield and fill out the infield as needed. Bring in guys to compete for a bullpen spot. Find the next hoffman and Coloumbe. The pool is full of those guys and they are cheap. So is Preillip, Adams, Raya and any other kid. The bullpen wont be the mess that it is now. 5 healthy capable SP ‘s starts by having 8-10 available between AAA and MLB. We have an abundance of that. Don’t mess with it. I can only assume that there was a plan of attack at selloff time to keep enough assets in order to reset starting in ‘26. Its not a big deal to throw ‘25 away if you can add assets before spring training ‘26 and end up better, younger/stronger to reopen the competitive window as quick as possible. I believe MLB made the A’s spend more to keep from being penalized for dumping salary continuously. They should do the same with the Twins. The league should have a minimum salary. Its good for everyone in the game. whoever invested in the Twins didn't do it to own and watch a crappy team. They did it for a return both monetary and ego driven. Everyone should expect payroll to not go lower than this baseline. Bring in whoever needs to be in order to be competitive and let some kids have a chance at the show in ‘26. The minors are stacked with them.

Is Ryan and Ober at a combined 15.5m not an absolute payroll bargain ?? A Healthy Pablo on contract is in line with league average for his services. Why the h*ll would you trade them away??? Basically everyone is low budget item A to Z. Even buck’s contract. How are the Twins allowed to scrape by with a payroll under $100M? Baseball allowing the Pohlads to do this is absolutely unacceptable.

Whom Could Minnesota Twins Trade This Offseason?
Fatbat replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Trade all of them and just close up shop. Hang the out of business sign at target field. A far better idea would be to build around them, Buck, LK, Jenkins and Gabby. Throw in some Erod when healthy and K Culpepper and a few more in ‘27. Plenty of young studs will pass up the hot mess roster of late ‘25.- 46 replies

On another note, Luke Keaschall is going to get to 130 AB’s soon and burn his rookie status. Is there a chance that the FO stashes him in St. Paul next week to allow him to chase ROY in ‘26? He already has 1.7WAR in 30 games played!! edit. 1.6WAR in 31 games. 113 AB’s

Morris and Rosario are interesting assets. Rosario will most likely be added to the 40 man and spend most of ‘26 in AAA. Hopefully chasing McCrusher’s ‘25 season. Morris is a sneaky pick to be an early ‘26 MLB innings eater. Its pretty awesome to have lower ranked talent heat up in August and force their way into promotion consideration. Morris could make the ‘26 opening day Twins roster. I am already bracing for a ‘26 Twins payroll under $120M with a many very young guys rotating in and out of the show. (The shat show) in MPLS.

This is a full on tank it type move. Its not possible to try and lose every game more than moves like this. It’s ok to throw away a season I suppose since the next thing to look forward to is a late winter trade of both our ace SP’s so we can tank even more in ‘26. BRUTAL.

Winokur is so young but so athletically strong. Definitely a freak of nature so when he actually develops man strength, wow! Look out. It makes sense to move him around the defensive spectrum when he is 20-22 years old so he can see the game from different perspectives. He will find a D-home and when(not if), when he finds his discerning eye at the plate, he will light up the minors and force his way to MLB. Playing his 21 yo season NEXT year in A+ ball to start, he will still be a year younger than the average guy in A+. He will and should stay there until he starts to crush his contract rate. He has 1k PA’s in pro ball so his sample size is still relatively small. He will develop. Like others have stated, just takes some time.
