    Zebby and a lot of the other guys from the 2021 and 2022 drafts are knocking on the door very quickly too here.

    In a 7 game series in the playoffs, anything is possible. Both wild card teams made the world series last year, not the heavyweights.

    I agree with you. I'm fine keeping him starting even through August in case of injury and a need, but come September I am all about moving him into the bullpen again.

    I mean, I don't know that I see Varland moving to the pen much before October, but FOR October, he was really good in that role last year. Why not right?

    I'll only add, IF Stewart and Topa can come back and be healthy, a lefty specific reliever is less of a need in my opinion. Frankly, Paddack and Varland and Festa may all be options come playoff wise for the bullpen. A starter is still a need though in my opinion for sure. Hopefully one you can feel comfortable starting a playoff game.

    Couple of questions... 1) I have a hard time putting Tibbs above Kurtz. Why do you think Kurtz falls to 13? Just curious. 2) Yesavage all the way to 16 would surprise me too. But that would be interesting for Miami. I'm so used to Miami just leaning into the prep pitching route, but it'd be hard to pass on Yesavage. 3) I like Benge. His bat is solid. I wouldn't hate a prep SS or prep pitcher there instead for a chance at a lottery ticket. But best player available always makes sense too. If the board fell this way I really would get excited about the idea of Brecht too. Can't teach that kind of stuff, even if everything else command wise needs work. 4) Generally, that grouping in comp round A, virtually everyone in that grouping is exciting in one way or another. The Twins first 2 picks are going to be fascinating to see the direction they go. Thanks!

    Keaschall has played almost as many games in cf as he has at 1b and 2b this year fwiw. If his bat plays, I see no reason he couldn't hold down a corner outfield spot.

Civale hasn't been outstanding this year, but has been a solid starter in the past and still controlled through 2025. Barrios turned 20 in April and is having a very solid season in high A. Mostly just sharing to show the value that went out for a controllable starter.

    It's all about what comes back. Long term it's hard for me to get around his strikeout percentage. With Rodriguez and Keaschall both knocking on the doorstop, and Larnach (arguably) surpassing him, I'd be open to trading him especially if someone comes back that can help now.

    How do we get Arozarena on the Twins? What would that take? With how the pitching market is lining up, I'm not really that certain there will be THAT many options for starters who are both A) Available and B) an upgrade over Ober. With that, I hope they do add to the team, and someone like Arozarena would be outstanding here. Outstanding anywhere really, but truly would help.

    It's taking a chance, for sure. College position players generally have the best chance of making it to the majors, but even they are not guaranteed. But yeah, generally right handed prep pitching has been the toughest group to gauge overall. Doesn't mean it WON'T work, but the odds are higher.

    I certainly trust the infrastructure of the Twins pitching development staff a LOT more than say when Kohl Stewart or Alex Meyer were in our system. IF the Twins do take a pitcher, either high school or college, at either 21 or 33 (or frankly at any point in the draft) I think they have shown enough so far to say that the pitcher is in good hands here.

    Came here just to add that Zebby at 14 is just comical at this point. If he isn’t their best prospect after Jenkins/Lee/Rodriguez, then I don’t know what to believe. Even then, easily their best starting pitcher prospect right? Festa is in that argument too, but Raya ahead of either of them feels just so wrong at this point. I should add, the top 3 with Zebby and Keaschall in my opinion are their top 5 prospects with a bullet.

    I agree. He has been a stud this year. He also has played 3b and the outfield more than he has 2b, which has only been 15 games for him so far. I am not at all saying Castro is going anywhere. Frankly I could see him becoming either our primary left fielder this season or continuing in a utility role and play everywhere.

    Maybe, but can he outproduce what 2b mostly has been so far this year already? I think so. Playoff level starting pitcher is the goal for me by the deadline for sure. But what position would you (barring health) want them to add via trade on the position player side?

    I do think we could use another good starting pitcher. I've long liked Luzardo, but I worry a bit about him as I see a slight drop in his average fastball velocity over the last month or so, and his 5/9 is lower than it has been in many years. IF Brooks Lee can come up and cover 2b (which I think he can, and I think he's not that far away) then I think Willi Castro could still be a full time player in a corner spot, and that could mitigate the need for a bat potentially. If not, I'd look hard at the corner outfield options closer to the end of July and see where we are at. That wouldn't be as much of a need today as it is when we know how healthy we are playing come that time. Bullpen, I'd be open to looking for a good lefty setup man, or at least someone who can get lefties out consistently.

    Two top 100 prospects for a rental 1b/dh is hard to swallow. I'd pass on that specific deal, even if I do think Alonso would give this lineup something it doesn't have already.

    I mean, to me, he will be a rental, and his salary for the remainder of the year is similar to what Kyle Farmer is making at this point. But maybe the Mets don't want to trade their face of their franchise in a lost year?

    Good article. I do think Pete Alonso would be a GREAT addition to our lineup. We'll see.
