    100% sign me up for this deal. I love Nardi’s stuff, and when Luzardo is healthy, his stuff is amazing too. He is also Pablo’s good friend in real life, which helps.

    Counterpoint; if Rodriguez comes up and shows he will stick, AND Jenkins debuts this year (he has already made AA) then both Larnach and Wallner will potentially have to prove they can stay right?

    Let’s say they do this with Rodriguez. Sign him to a deal like Milwaukee did with Chourio and have him up on opening day. I don’t personally see it happening, but let’s play this out. Who is getting traded first then; Larnach or Wallner?

    The Twins haven’t really done this before. I can’t see it happening at all with Jenkins, if I understand his agent to be Scott Boras. Is that correct still? Who is Rodriguez’s agent?

    I’d be nervous of the strikeout rate, but the fit makes sense. If I am the twins I’d ask for another piece, possibly a low minors arm they find interesting.

    I am really excited about Festa's potential. His strikeout stuff is legit, and if he can learn even an average 4th pitch (or even slightly below average) I think he could easily vault into our top 3. I also think it'll be interesting how the bullpen is constructed to assist with the rotation. I look at the list now, and there are 9 guys who currently will be working towards gaining a spot (Jax, Duran, Alcala, Stewart, Sands, Varland, Tonkin, Topa and Castellano, let alone Funderburk, Henriquez or more additions this winter.) I have to think they may carry more guys this year who can/will go multiple innings. Even Rocco said last week that they are toying with the idea of employing Jax in a similar role to how Detroit used Tyler Holton last season. Holton started 9 games and threw 95 innings in 2024. So if they do roll with a 5 man rotation, I have to think they will plan for MORE depth to be had with guys who can give multiple innings than they did in 2024.

    Never have enough pitching. Also... I doubt Festa sees much time at AAA this year. Varland will be firmly entrenched in the mlb bullpen. Matthews and Morris and Raya and Lewis will be starters, with Dobnak and McCaughan as my guess. Headrick, Adams, MacLeod, Ynoa and Nowlin will all be relievers, no? Pierson Ohl, maybe he is at AA?

    I suppose you have a point in the worries; are there truly ethical billionaires? I suppose it’s whatever viewpoint you share right? If they enjoy baseball, and treat the Twins as more than a bottom line, then I will be happy as a fan of the team

    Gotta say, I don’t really love either of these options. It’s probably naive, but I would love to trade for a big bat. Yandy Diaz would be so good here, but if he isn’t available, I would go to the giants and flip something to them for Lamonte Wade jr. He also is signed just through 2025 for only about 4 million, and he gets on base a lot (when he is healthy)

    That could be. That said, here are his innings totals for the last 4 seasons... 2021 = 130 innings 2022 = 154 1/3 innings 2023 = 144 innings 2024 = 127 2/3 innings. Just as an arm that can give innings, I wouldn't be shocked if he gets regular turns at AAA. Innings are needed, and he's been healthy/durable.

    According to the Twins transaction log on their site, they've signed a 17 year old left handed starter out of Cuba named Marlon Mirabel. All I can find on him is an Instagram post.     And with this, IF the Twins don't get him (which I think is the easy betting line right, my guess is a west coast team) then that means all the players that were going to go to the team that signs Sasaki will be set to be free agents. Hopefully they can jump in and get someone that may be available either way. But yes, Sasaki would be fun :)

    Another big name trade today. Isaac Paredes (he is a stud, and probably now the replacement for Bregman) along with their first round pick from 2024 Cam Smith (Jamie Cameron loved him pre draft) and pitcher Hayden Wisneski go to Houston. Really solid return for one year of Tucker, who is a great player in his own right.

    Maybe they can glom onto a deal (similar with Mookie going to the Dodgers where we sent Graterol and got back Maeda and Camargo) for one of the teams that are looking to do something after missing out on Soto. For example, maybe if the Cubs make a move to get Kyle Tucker, maybe we get involved as a 3rd team to get Isaac Paredes? I do think that when being creative, they should be open to lots of ideas.

    Of the options you laid out I'd prefer a short extension to Paddack. I am not trading Correa, and I'm really not certain I want to add Zebby to a couple of guys who had some value already. I guess that depends on who is coming back.

    Lots of k's, along with low walk numbers, appear worthy of a shot. He was their minor league pitcher of the year, so it's interesting they left him available. Have to see if we have something here I suppose.

    Not that I saw. But his numbers are good last year. Lot's of k's, really low walk numbers, and apparently throws a mid 90's fastball. Having him try out for the long reliever role this year isn't the worst thing. He was the Phillies minor league pitcher of the year in 2024.

    His numbers are better in 2023 than in 2024. It's possible he could be in due a bit for a bounce back no? It also wouldn't hurt in this sense to get out of the money to Paddack. I think that's the primary intent here.
