  1. Ryan was injured and tried to fight through it in 2023. He should be fine, and certainly has been durable. He and Pablo are the two guys right now who clearly have the trust to go a 3rd time through the order. Ober was great last year, and I hope he can take a next step. I hope he can get to the point that 3rd time through the order can be his. We will see. Paddack, yes, he has had a couple of tommy John’s, but he has a year removed now and showed he is fully healthy 2 months ago. I won’t argue about Varland in the rotation or not. He will be on the pitching staff, but he certainly hasn’t show durability issues. I want someone coming in who is coming off a healthy year, who won’t be on an innings limit, and will be ok with going a 3rd time through the order
  2. I don’t think a playoff level start equals a mid rotation starter. that said; I do think the Twins coaching staff, their infrastructure if you will, along with their defense, can bring a guy in now who some would believe is a mid rotation guy, and get him to the point that he is a playoff game level starter. For example, Sonny Gray, Kenta Maeda, Jake Odorizzi, Michael Pineda, Pablo Lopez, Joe Ryan. I still think Tyler Mahle was in that mold. I’d still love to bring him back this offseason.
  3. I put a healthy Ryan over Ober. But this is a fantastic way to look at it
  4. I think Woo has all of the stuff and command that he can be a high level guy. I don’t know if he is that December 2023, but I think he could show that by June 2024.
  5. I agree with all of this, and I think the focus should be to acquire a starter (instead of labels of 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5) go with, would you be comfortable with that starter starting a playoff game or not? I guess that's my baseline for what they need to do. I am comfortable with Ryan and Ober in that role, behind Lopez. IF Paddack looks anything like he did in October, I might actually put him ahead of Ryan or Ober. That said, I want to get someone who can be a step ahead of them. And I really like those 3. Doesn't have to be a #2 or #3. I just want to feel confident at playoff time that the starters we have are playoff caliber.
  6. And I think they will get to 7 by opening day. I fully expect a good trade for a starter, and I expect 1-2 minor league signings that would start in the rotation in St. Paul. Along with Festa and Woods Richardson and others who will probably make appearances over the course of the year. But yeah... Lopez, Ryan, Ober, Paddack and who they trade for (who they trade for, I'm hoping, could be a step above Ryan/Ober.) Then St. Paul will have Festa, Winder, Woods Richardson and I'd imagine at least 2 other additions. Incentive laden minor league contracts. Off the top of my head, think of it like Eric Lauer (formerly of the Brewers and Padres) and Brad Keller (formerly of the Royals.) But maybe they instead trade for a guy to have at AAA too? I fully expect arms to be added this offseason, and St. Paul to have a lot of depth that is of mlb quality. Does that help?
  7. Jeffers is a good thought, with 3 years control remaining. I would love to get him to sign a 5 year deal. What are you thinking with Duran? The Twins have 4 more years team control, so I’d want at least 6 years. I could see both happening though. Good point.
  8. I would LOVE Woo. I think he has everything a great pitcher would need, and tons of control. I'd throw out Polanco with Wallner. That gives Seattle two bats at positions of need, and Wallner especially could equal the service time that Woo has for Seattle. It might be tough for Seattle to lose Woo, and it might be tough for us to lose Wallner, but a deal like this would make it more possible for the Twins to keep Kepler around for 2024. Thoughts?
  9. I still LOVE the chance this front office took to bring in Mahle. I'd really love it if they resigned him too. Just because he got hurt and didn't perform doesn't mean the process for acquiring him was bad. I'd do that trade again 100 out of 100 times.
  10. I don't know that I'm in an enormous rush for any of them to be honest. But if we are naming players for this, Walker Jenkins would be up there for me, along with Brooks Lee. This could change depending on what else happens this offseason. But so many of the players have many multiple years of team control left.
  11. All of those pitchers will throw innings in the majors this year. Pitching staffs, even good ones, routinely go through a LOT of guys. Last year the Twins had a relatively healthy pitching season (generally) and they still had 29 different pitchers throw at least 1 inning for them. I'd imagine that number will be similar in 2024.
  12. I like the creative thought. I don't personally see the push to trade a lot of assets for a reliever in the offseason, but I do agree they will have to be creative in how they augment their roster.
  13. I do think Varland can be higher leverage than Pagan was in that role in 2023. I’m very excited for his role in 2024 and what that looks like. He will be electric out of the bullpen. That’s very exciting
  14. I have a question; what do people think their primary starting pitcher acquisition will look like? A) Someone more established, with less years of control or B) Someone less established, with more years of control? I kind of lean A, but I’m curious how this offseason will play out
  15. They need a lot of offense in Miami. A LOT. I wouldn’t say at all that the only position of need there is catcher
  16. This was awesome! Great story and thank you for sharing it
  17. I can absolutely see him on the opening day roster. Frankly, if both are healthy, I have him in over Gordon. I also could very well see a scenario that he gets a lot of playing time this year, and that being a good thing.
  18. Because I believe he is not a #3 starter, and I believe he is a weapon out of the pen :)
  19. Love the show! For me, yesterday when I was out, I was listening to it in the podcast format (not YouTube.) The show was cut short, and ended at around the 20 minute mark. Just wanted to pass that along.
  20. I don’t think Miami would want Winder at all. I’d imagine it would be Polanco and then another actual prospect.
  21. Here is a random thought I had that has no actual rumor attached or basis in anything I’ve read. How much would the twins have to give, with Polanco, to get Max Meyer from Miami? He should be healthy from Tommy John this year, and his fastball/slider combo is special. Maybe a new regime in Miami would be open to considering it? He wasn’t this gm’s draft pick after all. I don’t think it would work as a 1 for 1, but man would his arm talent be fun to have. Being from Minnesota doesn’t hurt either
