Billionaires aren't living paycheck to paycheck. Millionaires aren't either. But I do agree, no one wants to miss 2027. Baseball only came back after the 1994 strike because of Mcgwire and Sosa hitting bombs. Longer term, the value of baseball would take an enormous hit if they do miss the season. That said, people who deal only with private equity have no soul whatsoever. When have they ever cared about what's good for the populace? That's what I fear, that it's ONLY numbers.

You have more optimism on all of the mlb owners agreeing on anything collectively than I do. I hope you are right. Even then, let's say Abel isn't ready to be in the rotation. I can see him starting the year as the long man/6th man at that point too and building up. Have to think they want 10-12 guys between the majors and AAA/AA who would provide quality starts throughout the year.

You'll get no argument from me on earning the spot. But if he is healthy in the spring, I have to imagine his stuff will look better than Zebby and Kremer. And I also assume Ober isn't back. So then it depends on what other moves are made. It FEELS like so much uncertainty around who will be GM, heck who will be owner, and what direction they go. And that's on top of uncertainty around if there is a season to prepare for.

Yeah, we'll see if 1) There is a season in 2027, and 2) If Ryan is still here when that happens. I wouldn't be shocked if they try to get the most value out of him now, but who knows. I do think Bradley and Abel both have playoff starter potential. I know Pablo does, but hopefully he comes back healthy. After that, if ownership truly does want to win, maybe there is another addition either via free agency or trade. I also think Prielipp has earned another shot in the rotation. Good to see him get the innings this year. And then what? Zebby has looked fine at times. Kremer has another year of control. I can't imagine Ober is back but who knows. Offseason will be interesting. Hopefully there is a season on time in 2027

I don't think that was true in April. Joe looks like a shell of himself now, but I don't think that's the case. It'll be good to have Pablo back next year. Abel too.

I take Taj over Joe even back in April this year. Taj has been better more often in my opinion, and is better longer into a season.

I agree, but I think the GM of the team should be bold and a forward thinker. With Jeffers specifically, I would have preferred either an extension done or a trade. Yes he has a great bat, and yes at the time they were very much in the playoff race. But the GM of the team I cheer for should plan ahead better in scenarios like that. That's what I mean.

Also why you hold on to players at the deadline, especially like Larnach, but also like Jeffers and even Ryan to an extent (but especially Larnach) when you have younger players ready.

I've noticed the game threads don't have a large header on the home screen anymore. I assume that is either 1) The site thought it wasn't necessary or 2) The team is playing poorly. Just came here to say that even if the team is bad, I didn't hate having the header on the home screen to be able to direct right to the thread for the game that day.

Yup, that's unplayable in so many ways. I know some of throwing out baserunners is on the pitcher, but this number is difficult to look away from.

Only looking at numbers, but Diaw has played all of 27 games at catcher in aa this year. He has had as many games in the outfield and more with DH combined 27 in the outfield, 10 more at DH. He has thrown out 6 of 64 runners against him while catching. That seems bad. 64 attempts in 27 games? Really?!?! Who here is really certain he is capable of catching at the major league level? All reports I’ve read of him say he needs a lot of work to get to average defensively. That’s not someone I want to catch, at least not yet

1) I'd love a thread that is JUST dedicated to either rumor or even blueprint building for the next season. That kind of talk can be fun in its own right, but I don't know that it ever really belongs in the actual team discussion that is on the field at that point. 2) This idea is probably crazy, but I'm an elder millenial, so please work with me. I miss the days of aol messenger, and I'm NOT saying we need that. But sometimes the game threads are more of a thread instead of a chat board, if that makes sense? It does make sense in my head. IF the site had an ability to make it a chat board, where you could see in real time who was online and chat with people instead of thread-ing it, I wouldn't at all hate that change. But if that's not an option, just figured I'd throw it out. Thank you for having this site. It very much is a daily go to for me, and I appreciate it. Thank you.

Stories like him are why it's hard to not love baseball. I hope for nothing more for him that his arm feels healthy enough and he can give it a go. Best of luck to him, and enjoy the ride :) -
So tonight for dinner I'm going to make a pretty basic salad with cherry tomatoes, and then chicken thighs. Typically I like to add mostly just salt and pepper, but bake them for about 12 minutes and then flip and then bake for another 12 minutes. A nice glass of red wine with it, and then have some music playing. Should be lovely, those are easy and it turns out ok. I don't hate that the Twins game will be on for me at 11:40am local time. And hopefully Jenkins and the rest of the team play well and stay healthy.

Yeah, north island is more volcanoes. It's been so awesome to hike up volcanoes and look in them. That and seeing the ocean every day are some of the reasons I feel I am so much calmer lately. All of it helps.

In October my dad is flying out here from LA. It's fun seeing the flight time/time change; he will leave Auckland about 8pm on the day he is leaving, and then land in LA about 12:15pm or so that same day. Always find it funny

Sure is. My sister lives in LA, so we actually usually take time to stop there for days to a week to break up the trip a little. Otherwise, that’s a LONG time

Not direct. You can get to any number of cities on the west coast of the US first. We did LA. From LAX it’s about a 12 hour direct flight, maybe 12 and a half hours.
