    I think both of them have good k rates, some speed, and doubles power. They also can cover ground in the outfield. I don't know about Fedko's defense in the outfield. His k rates are not crazy for AAA, but I can't say right now he would absolutely be an improvement over what both Martin and Roden already do.

    Of the other players you listed, I absolutely would see McCusker, Keirsey, Julien, Miranda, Fitzgerald, Gasper, Tonkin and Larnach being elsewhere as soon as possible. That creates the necessary room on the 40 man, and it's not even really a difficult call. And 100% I protect Klein.

    Agreed, and Martin actually looked pretty good the last two months right? I also think he has a place on the team next year, be it as starting in the outfield or as the Willi Castro super utility around the field. He has speed, makes contact and can hold his own at a few positions (outfield and 2b) so he'll be good to have around.

    I wish him well. I do. I also think he will rebound a bit for another team next year, and I would imagine we will receive a middle reliever or backup catcher via trade for him.

    I do think Larnach is on another team next year. Actually I'd be surprised if he is on the team in 2026. I do think it's possible he could be traded for something useful (a middle reliever for example?) but Wallner has had success with the bat before, so even though he had a down year in 2025, I certainly wouldn't get rid of him for nothing. And I love what Gonzalez and Fedko did last year in the minors. I can't YET say either are ready for a starting role. Jenkins I THINK can be that at some point, but he'll most likely get some time at AAA for the start of the year. Rodriguez absolutely has the potential to be that too and I hope he can be healthy for a lengthened time. To start the year, as of now, I'd imagine some combo of Buxton and Roden and Martin can be enough until Jenkins is ready, or others. But maybe they do have Wallner in right until that point?

    JUST for argument's sake; Miguel Sano and Michael Cuddyer were drafted or signed as SS's. Same with both Joe Nathan and Jacob DeGrom. Most teams draft or sign (if they are 16) SS's, Catcher's, center fielders or pitchers because that's where youth league teams have their best players play. So, if you are a drafting team, and you are wanting to draft high school kids, if they are a position player a LOT of the time they are going to be a SS, CF or catcher.

    It's a fan run site, and it's fun for thought experiments, but by no means do actual front offices use it to gauge a player's value. Everyone has their own way of valuing their own players' and other teams players.

    Thinking out loud here; I don't hate the idea of St. Louis as a destination for him. The Twins have made deals with their new president before, and they seem to have a lot of options for catching as a starting point on a deal. Pages or Crooks or Bernal all could be a starting point of a deal, and then another major league ready player and a couple of prospects is a decent starting point on a deal. At least something worth considering. Frankly, if they could somehow turn Ryan into Masyn Winn and Leonardo Bernal, that would help two positions on defense for the team with young controllable guys. I don't know that St. Louis would do that, but it sure would be fun in my opinion. That said, I bet Winn is not touchable there, unless of course they think JJ Wetherholt could hold down the SS position defensively. The deal with Boston for me is harder to envision. Like others have mentioned, IF they trade Ryan (they don't HAVE to, even if he requests one, there will be a market for him, so it will be a haul, and that does NOT mean equal value on the baseball trades site) and I truly don't see the point AS MUCH to prioritize an outfielder being the centerpiece of a deal here. Well, unless they truly don't think all that highly of Jenkins or Rodriguez and their futures, which for 2026 I almost think they have to be banking on them producing at some point.

    One could argue that that describes virtually every team in the AL this year and most teams in the NL not named the Dodgers.

    I'm not at all certain what Alan Roden will look like in the majors. I don't know how many of his skills will translate. But he is 25 (26 in December) and every year in the minors he's shown decent speed, minimal pop and really good strikeout and walk rates. I'm not saying at all that he will be a star, and if every one of the prospects works out then he should be a really good backup in any of the outfield spots. Just mostly saying that he has the makings of someone who could actually help potentially.

    There is a good bat in there. I don't trust him longer term on defense in right, but he is fine there for now. I am curious how Roden looks in the field and at the plate and if his contact ability and speed on the bases would be enough to offset Wallner's bat by being in the field compared to Wallner. I am also very excited for the potential of Jenkins and Rodriguez, so we'll see. All of this tells me too that IF they are going to trade someone like Joe Ryan, I don't know that I see an outfielder as the primary focus for the return unless they are also planning on moving on from Wallner and others.

    I like Jett a lot. I don’t think he with Clifford (that strikeout rate of his is ALARMING) and another 40 fv prospect is nearly enough for Ryan. But I do think the Mets are a team that could make sense for a deal generally

    Depends on the prospect for me. I mean, we aren't talking any of their top 5, and I'd argue it wouldn't be one of their top 10 even currently. But let's say it's someone like Marco Raya or Kyle DeBarge (just to pull guys in the 11-20 range.) I don't know that Tampa would want either of them for Diaz, but someone like that wouldn't be a holdup for me. I'm only saying I'd listen. That's all.

    Depends on the asset no? And don't you want to try? Diaz from all accounts is a really good teammate and a middle of the order bat. He would truly add something that this lineup is missing, and his salary next year is only 12 million. I don't know what Tampa would want, and it's quite possible someone else would offer a better trade package. The Twins do have a deep farm system, and they have made a lot of trades with Tampa before. I'd at least listen, that's all.

    After 2026, but he does have a club option for 2027. That said, my opinion is the 2027 season won't happen or at least will be shortened, so it's hard to care a LOT right now about anything post 2026 because I don't know when baseball will have a full season after next year.

    Agreed with everything you said here. I'll only add that I do like O'Hearn's defense at 1B more than some, and I'd at least listen to what Tampa would want for Diaz, but everything makes sense here.

    I have 2 questions on him specifically that I didn't see in the article; 1) Is he a solid defensive option at 1b? I would prefer that compared to a dh only. 2) Is he a pull type hitter that would benefit from playing at Target field? I do like that he is right handed. I also believe he is more pull heavy which doesn't hurt at Target Field. I guess I'd prefer someone who can be average or better at 1B, but I would not make him the priority for 1b/dh.

    It truly will come down to him in my opinion. IF he can get back to even 80% of what he was in 2023 in to 2024, then they are a different team next year.

    Well that or owners/teams don't expect a 2027 season to happen. Either on time or at all. I also wonder then, hypothetically, we won't trade Ryan because team's won't value team control for the 2027 season as much BECAUSE of the lockout coming.

    With the shutdown coming up after the 2026 season, this offseason is going to be VERY interesting for many teams. For example, the Angels just signed Kurt Suzuki to a 1 year deal which feels SUPER odd for any manager of any team to be quite honest. That said, on the field, I wouldn't mind at all a focus to be on defense with additions they make through the year. I didn't hate how Royce looked at 3b, but we'll have to find Keaschall a home (and maybe that's 1B or LF if not at 2b?) but I also wouldn't hate to get a strong defensive catcher in there to allow Jeffers to catch against lefties and/or dh against righties and lefties on a more regular basis. But yeah, upping the team's defense from below average to even average will have a huge effect on runs allowed as a team.

    If they keep him and he reverts back to form, good. He certainly can both dh and play right. But if they can turn him into a decent young catcher or something else they are looking for, it’d be a good idea to at least listen

    Agreed. I don't know at all that Jeffers is in the 2027 plans, so if they have a new starting catcher AND co-catcher or backup in 2026 that would not shock me.
