  1. Getting really tired of all the Buxton - CF - DH discussion / angst...I mean I do get it, BUT - We are well into the season and it is what it is at this point. We all now realize that his offensive ability SEEMS to pivot off of his defensive prowess. Mental deficiency in regard to DH play is one thing. Physical limitations - in particular a knee injury - are another...We will find out very soon during the off season about the reparability of said injury. IF repair is realistic option we will subsequently find out whether Byron's offensive ability can return in Spring Training NEXT YEAR....Our present reality, however, is that this undefined knee injury (which is so frustrating in and of itself) is universally limiting to one of our best players: Fielding, hitting, and running....Thanks for listening to my rant. Win Twins.
  2. Turning point of the game was Perez's play at first fielding Wallner's smash and preventing a much bigger inning. Subsequent to that - Sonny suffers his "Difficult Inning" where he seemingly instantly loses his previously demonstrated pinpoint control. Everything that evolved after that can be traced back to the above....
  3. Addition to the bullpen by trade for now (right hander) - Addition via return to health hopefully forthcoming (left and right hander). In the meantime - All the best to Mr. Lopez and his health and that of his family's. Win Twins.
  4. Aaron Gleeman reports the signing will occur later today....I imagine the Twins thoroughly explored the "Hip Issues" in the pre-draft process. The only orthopedic issues the young man is going to have will be potential back issues carrying his money to the bank. Let's hope the Walker potentiates his "Stud Status" and fulfills the substantial investment.
  5. Interesting article on the Twin's Draft (Philosophy) and subsequent comments. In terms of pitching metrics there is all kinds of data on spin rate, mph, arm angle, and release point. In terms of release point the focus seems more related to side arm, behind the ear, submarine, etc. In the NBA - Height and wingspan are frequently mentioned within player analysis and summation. Watching Ober the other night I was wondering if there might be another factor in Twin's pitching analysis. That metric would include a pitcher's wingspan and the point at which the pitch is released between the pitcher's plant foot / the extended arm holding the ball / the plate....I suppose inseam would also be factorial. Just been pondering this. Would would the metric be termed?? The "Ober Under"?? Sorry - Puns, It's a curse....
  6. Put the Twins in the American League East in 1987 and how many games back would they have been?? Just askin'.....
  7. Especially when said pitcher Sonny Gray could have a "Titanic Impact" in any Game #1 Playoff Scenario....Sorry - I just could not resits.
  8. Based solely on the measurables of height / weight and tools at a HS level - Am I the only one that has Dave Winfield come to mind??
  9. After reading through the posts - A few thoughts.... 1) A prime symptom of "Radke Disease" exhibited by any afflicted club is chronic anemic underperforming offense. 2) The term "Length" in reference to Ober is complicated adjective. 3) In the last two games against the Orioles (Both wins at 8-1 & 1-0) is true Twin's '23 essence. Don't drive yourself insane trying to discern the essence.
  10. Dear MN Twins - Your draft location has risen from #13 to #5....Please don't leave your aspirations at the previous address.
  11. Igniter. Catalyst. Spark Plug. Players whose at bats serve as inspiration. Whose plate appearances provide blue print and fires up those that follow. Carew. Molitor. Arraez. Puckett. Mauer. Independence Day & All Star Break approach. The Twins are a firecracker without fuse right now. Sadly, there are few players who are being paid to be igniters who are far from combustible right now. Happy 4th of July everybody.
  12. Intentionally took a night off from Twins "Baseball" last evening and instead enjoyed some NBA Basketball background to vinyl on the turntable. After reading thru the posts it sounds like a wise decision in terms of blood pressure, karma, psyche....The post by "Beast" probable would sum up my frustration best had I chosen otherwise. Except that he forgot Brent Rooker.
  13. Another interesting article into the potential hierarchy and selection order atop the 2023 MLB Draft...Respectfully, three thoughts I have after sifting through all the comments. 1) How would Dollander look at the present time under Wes Johnson tutelage and 2) How much do the Twins covet a right handed bat that could play quickly thru the minors. Lastly, 3) Is any of this years pre-draft though process in light of anticipated prospect replenishment given the upcoming trade deadline. Give me the "Combo Platter"??!!
  14. A time for self analysis and reflection for ALL the teams in BOTH the AL & NL Central as all these teams have quickly exited the playoffs for the offseason....Only the Cards and Sox won a game and avoided being swept. A weak combined 2-16??!! Good math problem for the kids at home during Covid. Maybe these teams can gather together collectively and swap players amongst themselves - They've got the time on their hands......
  15. Hello everyone - Thanks for "Licking Twin Wounds" with me after a painful couple of days.....A few comments and observations to share about an all to brief Minnesota postseason (Again!!) In terms of managing the starting pitching I see a difference between the removal of Maeda vs. Berrios. Maeda is playoff experienced and crafty enough that he should have been left on the mound with the bullpen up and warming.Game One in a 3 Game Series is HUGE. Berrios seemed psyched out after the Brantley at bat and carried it to the next hitters. I sensed it and so did Baldelli. God Brantley kills us....Hopefully he ends up in the NL next year....OR our our DH?? Bullpen use - I was fine with all in all. Yes Romo faltered in the Red series as well as the Wild Card. He won't be back. But in general a reasonably good performance. It was a bandaid stretched too thin to cover an offense that underperformed. The turning point of yesterday's game for me was the Arraez play at the plate. I do not put this on Luis. It was a bad decision by Diaz and not the first. He's gone. Every hitter looked more lost this year except Cruz. I don't thinks it's coincidental that Rowson departs and the hitting declined. Varela and Hernandez are relieved. Baldelli has a lot on his plate in terms of game management and did underperform somewhat...But putting fire in the belly of players comes from Team Player Leaders and the bench coach. Donaldson not being on the field hurt in a number of ways. We can do better than Mike Bell - We need analytics and emotion to counter Rocco's calm demeanor. In terms of player movement and management in the off season I lean toward trusting the Twin's Brass. Covid-19 changed everything...As a Critical Care RN I have a certain dread for the upcoming Winter and baseball could well find itself in another strange twilight come Spring. I'm hoping that Levine / Antony have fingers on the pulse of this team and make the necessary moves based on appropriate insight. Generally I've been impressed with their drafts and team structuring thus far. The Hot Stove is just around the corner. I look forward to all your comments. Health to you all.
