  1. Sorry to interrupt the "Shot to the Bow - Shot to the Stern" dialogue, but practicality by proximity is on my mind...The Red Sox are in town thru the deadline - Correct?? There's a few Boston prospects that, while "Can't Miss" might be a bit strong, surely are tantalizing.... LHP Brandon Clarke SS / Athlete Franklin Arias LHP Payton Tolle Pick the fruit from the tree in your own backyard! We know the Twins players / pitchers involved in MLB Trade Rumors. Let's put on our "Falvey Thinking Caps" and work a Bean Town Deal!! Especially since a few on this site obviously feel they would be doing a superior job>>> PS: A team in Limbo is badly combined when it's ownership is up in the air and uncertain. Win Twins.
  2. Having said that - Your reaction to the move to replace Paddack with Coulombe? Both he and Jax seemed passive today...Don't know if it was related to the pitches called or fatigue. Maybe one more inning of Paddack, or at least a batter or two, wouldn't have been such a bad thing. Additionally - The missed third strike call on Betts was atrocious. It was obvious in my living room and the replay exemplified umpire negligence. Don't really understand how neither a player nor member to the coaching staff was not thrown out on that one. More passivity I guess...
  3. Trade with the Brewers might look like...1) Jeferson Quero C 2) Josh Noth RHP 18 y.o. A Ball 3) Brett Wichrowski 22 y.o. RHP AA. Quero was a defense first prospect whose hitting has really improved. Great arm. Sits behind William Contreras who at 27 y.o is hard to pull from the lineup. Is this too greedy??!!
  4. Control thru the 2027 Season is a huge factor within this discussion. GMs buy out these years quite frequently toward longer term contracts with "Relative" affordability. I see all these comments about how bullpen arms are overvalued...May or may not be true. Hard to see these players as a "Luxury" within the context of the modern game. I suppose it could be viewed as luxury when you seem to have them - Necessity when you are lacking. Just ask the Dodgers....
  5. The Brewers absolutely HAMMERED Yamamoto recently. Listening to the Twins broadcast team describing his prima donna need for extra rest and days off make me wonder what exactly the Dodgers paid for...This can't sit well internally and exposes their bullpen even more. And all of this with Ohtani on the team. Yikes!!
  6. When the Twins drafted Culpepper I opined Tim Anderson as his ceiling....Don't bump your head Kaelen!!
  7. The Brewers just swept the Dodgers in LA after dismantling them a bit earlier in Milwaukee. LA was slumping going into the break and have come out after the All Star Game in similar fashion. Now would be the time to have a strong series against them. One will probably serve as tonic for the other.
  8. As excited as I am every year with rating and ranting about the prospects down on the farm as well as poring over the MLB Draft and the Twins selections - It always comes down to this for me...Prospects equate POTENTIAL AND PROMISE - Not actual MLB PERFORMANCE. When they perform all is warm and fuzzy. When they fail to fulfill potential - So frustrating! Jorge Alcala was recently traded - SO much potential. Prime example of the double edged quality that prospects hold. Detroit had how many All-Stars on the field last night?? Seems like they gave up runs while scoring none. Is the MLB Central race over? Buxton and Ryan played well. Still feel that the key to the Twins second half success is the play of Correa. Taken high in the same Draft as Byron, Carlos' play has paled in comparison this year. Getting our Ace back at a healthy high level will be huge as well. The Rockies, Dodgers, Nationals, and Red Sox stand between now and the 6 PM 7/31 Deadline. This is where GMs and Owners provide insight and leadership in knowing when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. The prospects returned in folding bring back potential and promise - Not guaranteed MLB performance. Win Twins!!
  9. Marek Houston is the most diminutive Day 1 pick of the Twins and stands 6'3"....If none of these guys can play baseball - Maybe the NBA Summer League?? The young Mr. Young raised the "Winokur Pick" in my mind as well...Probably not as refined defensively or flexible position wise but a bat potential to drool about....
  10. With apparent mastery of 2 pitches at a 60 grade level and immense physicality - No way he comes out of the bullpen if the Twins are end of the season competitive??
  11. Hmmmm...Don't Stars emerge once they make the big leagues and become everyday players??
  12. Not quite the way we saw things pre-draft yesterday!! However, Marek Houston was the most referenced player to the Twins at that spot by the national pundits. Watched him play and he can definitely field his position. His offensive game progressed and the kid became a real RBI Hound. He is a bit of a Noah Miller balm with more advanced offensive skill - Not from Wisconsin of course.... Speaking of my fair state...Both Gavin Kilen 2B and Nate Snead 2B are off the board. What a first round for middle infielders!! Anyway, the state prize - Peter Kussow RHP Arrowhead HS 6'5" 215# is still on the board. Biting my tongue right now as I really wanted to comp him to Riley Quick!! Damn...Anyway - He would probably need to go early today to lure him from college commitment with bonus money. Oh, and since the Twins are apparently drafting a Summer NBA team - One of YOUR selections could add to their dominating height and athleticism....Joseph Dzierwa LHP MSU 6'7". Love the draft. Win Twins!! Thanks for the coverage and comments everybody.
  13. I am now going to demonstrate my Wisconsin Bias and feature some of State's best talent available in this year's draft - One you already hit on!! Gavin Kilen 2B Tennessee. There is also Mitch Voit 2B Michigan. Will Vierling C Murray State has really developed nicely - For all the TDers wanting to add catching talent. Some really good pitching talent is available - The best of whom may be a HS Pitcher from Hartland-Arrowhead. Peter Kussow drew scouts to his games all season. At 6'5" 215# his physique is practically already there. Predicted to receive the highest draft bonus ever by a WI pitcher. Stud written all over him. Other WI Pitchers at the college level include Nate Snead RHP Tennessee. Alex Breckheimer RHP Kansas. Rory Fox RHP Notre Dame who was exceptional all around HS athlete. On Wisconsin! Win Twins!!
  14. Love your board and its legitimacy is exemplified as I've seen several of these players as part of "Expert Drafts." But here's the thing - A player (or two) is going to fall lower than expected. Who might that be? I agree with your Bremner evaluation and ranking...He seems to already have developed two strong pitches. At the very least - That talent would carry well to the bullpen. Should he continue to develop top of the line starter is not out of the question. In a sense, he has already fallen in that he was top 5 pick preseason...Nice article. Draft Day is here....Win Twins!!
  15. I'm a "Pepper" - He's a "Pepper" - Wouldn't you like to be a "Pepper" to....Draft day today. Additional talent to add system wide. Exciting. Win Twins!!
  16. Day to Day with a hand contusion....HR Derby scratch?? Byron has been way too valuable to this team for the risk, right? Right??
  17. The Twins drafted a HS SS a few years ago from Wisconsin who was recently promoted to the Dodgers AAA Team...Still stings. None of the "Expert Rags" have us going that direction. Tyler Bremner is not that unrealistic of an option. Also, stranger things have happened then having Irish slip that far. MLB Draft 2025 is almost upon us - Dream Big Twins fans...
  18. Doktorczyk caught my eye when the Twins drafted him in 2024. At 6'6" and 220# his physical stature was similar to Ober's though he is able to throw harder. And with "Doktor" as part of his surname both Bauer & Gast much be drooling over the wordplay / puns!!
  19. As a Twins Fan in WI I will connect your dots and interject that it's most likely league wide rather than specific to the Twins. Former Brewer Ace and flame thrower Corbin Burnes just hurt his elbow and is gone for the season for Arizona. Brandon Woodruff is still struggling to come back from a MAJOR shoulder injury from 2 seasons ago. Their present staff has had several missed starts and IL stints due to more minor shoulder / intercostal / elbow etc. ailments. Ryan, Lopez, and now Matthews are probably reflective of a league wide pattern that is afflicting the Twins and Brewers along with every other MLB team. MRI Scans can detect inflammation and strains along with tears. Let's hope the training staff can help our pitches heal as quickly as possible and avoid major season ending scenarios.
  20. Turnabout IS fair play!! It seems the Twins usual position in terms of this article is the team NEEDING a pitcher and how many treasured prospects it will cost to attain that arm. Personally, I think the sheriff needs to stick around town. The reaction in the dugout a few nights ago while he was walking off the mound following his dominant eight inning one run performance spoke volumes. A good amount of time and energy has been spent on his injury rehabilitation and both team and player are now seeing full potential realized. Gone is the discussion of limiting Chris to bullpen. I think his moniker should be "Padlock" as he's been locking it down on the mound of late.!! Ride it out with the Sheriff and take the draft pick if you can't resign him... And a proactive word toward any article exploring a SWR Trade - Too early!! Still think he'll be rejoining the roster sooner than later. Win Twins!!
  21. Not to overemphasize or critique Seth - Just want to make that clear....I always love and appreciate the minor league capsules!! But Two Things: Miranda was 3 for 5 last night...His shoulder(s) appears to be healthy, functional, and firing on all cylinders. Man - If you could just switch Royce's upper body with Miranda's lower body....But, alas. Royce's head has now followed his legs into slump and asynchrony. In the meantime Jose seems to be putting it all together. Not really sure on his defensive metrics. Also - Was watching the Dodgers vs Yankees last night. Not going to call it a game. But did anyone notice the obvious similarity of the LA cap logo to that of the Saints??!! My computer skills do not allow me to post them side by side!! Perhaps someone more talented?? Lastly - And I know this is three things...If anyone deserves a streak of good health, performance, and fortune it's Connor Prielipp. I know - This could be a long litany of names. Win Twins!!
  22. Perhaps a flip flop with an un-named Twins player who has been visibly struggling and was not in the lineup for yesterday's game...More emphasis than critique. I totally get the push for Wallner's return to the Twin's but....Enjoyed the article Steve. Additionally - ESPN posted a 2025 Mock Draft today and posit the Twins selecting Jace LaViolette CF Texas A&M. Future prospect him for sure, but anyone know anything about him in addition to the synopsis within the article?? The Twins Cities loses one "Flower" and gains another??!!
  23. "Look Straight Ahead - Nothin' But Blue Skies." Watched a bit of the Guardians vs. Tigers last night - Cleveland had to play another game under rainy conditions...Talk about the proverbial Black Cloud!! They shut-out Detroit 8-0 however. "I Think I Can Make It Now - The Pain Is Gone." Welcome back CC. One thing I've learned in almost 40 years of Trauma / Critical care is that not every brain bounces equally...Some patients have tremendous amount of symptomology from what appears to be minor insult while others crawl from the wreckage with little apparent insult. As variant the damage the same hold true for the recovery. I will never forget mine after a bike crash in which a helmet saved my life. Koskie, Morneau, Mauer, Buxton, Correa - What a talented bunch to share an affliction. It seems to me that Byron had quite the issue with Migraines earlier in his career which might make his recovery more challenging. In addition - With his immense talent leading to crashing into walls and second base he will have to be very careful which is so hard to do. Lastly, with all the opportunity we have been blessed to have enjoying Justin in the booth - Has he ever elucidated on his concussion - What he recalls happening / His recovery / Present side effects." "All Of The Bad Feelings Have Disappeared." Here's to hoping Byron continues his recovery with no further such injury to any other Twins player this season. Great Song. Great article - Talk about starting one's day with an "Earworm"! Win Twins!!
