  1. Good hitting by Gurriel. Issuing a walk to a 90% base stealer was the no-no. Obviously, I'd still rather see a better pitcher than Pagán in the seventh.
  2. Emilio Pagán with a one-run lead in the seventh. It is now that I wish the team had fortified the bullpen.
  3. Yeah, Correa having a lousy season and I wouldn't even call his offensive performance mediocre at the plate and perhaps the manager should bat him lower in the order. I guess I don't like to kick a player when they're down and I want the team to win. He's been the only constant in the infield and has continued to be a fine defensive infielder. He's going to be on the roster for the next five years. I really hope this is an off year and not a premature decline. A lot has been hard to watch.
  4. The Snakes have to feel snakebit at this point. Seven left in scoring position.
  5. Three double steals, putting pressure on the pitchers.
  6. Keuchel tiptoed at the edge of disaster for five innings. I guess I wouldn't tempt fate and send him out there for the sixth if I were the manager. Felt like an outing from Bundy or Archer last year.
  7. Willi Castro for Gold Glove (utility player)!!
  8. Keuchel is like some radio stations, stuck in the 80s.
  9. So far, Keuchel is as advertised. Jamie Moyer and Tommy John are calling their agents--sign me up.
  10. Julien did all he could on the slow roller. Castro's feed was a little low on the possible 5-4-3. I'm not blaming him for lost outs so far.
  11. 121 Ks in 280 plate appearances. I don't know if anyone else is close who has made at least 100 PAs.
  12. Thank you Whities (I won’t write it twice)! They scored three in the ninth to beat Clasé and the Guardians. Cleveland’s 3B (Ramirez was DH) made consecutive errors with two outs and a 3-2 lead in the ninth.
  13. Opening Day was moved to the next day. That is all so far.
  14. Any word on when the game will start? It doesn’t look like it will rain hard.
  15. Jeffers (DH) and Solano in vs. Gallen, Polanco and Gallo out.
  16. Good game for Martin, as well. His versatility and speed would play really well with the major league team if he can hit and field enough. I see he played left field last night.
  17. Fifty games remaining--25 on the road, 25 at home. The Twins are 13-8 since the AS break and have gained four games on Cleveland. It appears they ran into KC at exactly the wrong time, just like Oakland, the Royals were able to put together a single winning streak this year and the Twins were in the middle of it. With or without Gallo, the Twins are a near-lock to set the all-time strikeout record. More play from Julien and Wallner won't help in that regard, but those two are contributing positively, despite their high K rates. Who are the three starters for a prospective playoff series against the bottom wild card team (currently Toronto)? Maeda's ERA if one start (10 runs in three innings vs. NY) is removed is 2.86. If Kirilloff doesn't return in a couple weeks, how should first base be covered? I'm saying not Gallo, but then what? The most convenient solution would be to move Julien there--Polanco to second and Lewis to third (assuming he's back in a week or two).
  18. I would expect that Lewis should be ready for a rehab assignment soon--within a week. Yes, Gallo's gotta go. Right now, he's holding down first base. Solano, Luplow and Kepler have big league experience at first (Kepler only has four innings). The key is Kirilloff. The report was that he had a cortisone shot last week and is "resting and strengthening" his shoulder. If he can return, there is no way Gallo should remain on the team.
  19. Jeffers on a really good offensive run. He’s 0-2 throwing out base stealers, but Maeda really gave him no chance.
  20. Correa is in an 0-15 funk, now hitting cleanup. Hmmm. Past time for C-4 to blast.
  21. It looks like there is a lot of rain in the forecast. Is there a possibility that the game gets rained out?
