  1. I would say 20 homers from Taylor is a rationale for letting him swing.
  2. Taylor hasn’t performed exceptionally well since returning, but it seems more like a slump than a real injury.
  3. Yes, but no. He was in the organization and the team would have to petition to add him. It can be done, especially since he likely would be replacing an injured player (Correa or Lewis). If either Vázquez or Jeffers suffered an injury between now and round one, the Twins would have to petition to add a catcher—same scenario. Edit to add, that is my understanding of the rule.
  4. Willi gets another day off. I hope he isn’t nicked from his dive from Friday night. Polanco has been poor at third, but who else is going to play there?
  5. I agree with this and will add that the club has to make active roster decisions, both with the position players and pitchers. Guys like Luplow, Stevenson and Larnach. Each player who has a position locked down probably has a plan for playing time. Solano has played more than he ever has and is 35, but also in a slump. Castro has played every day since returning from injury and may have been nicked on Friday night. Julien is dealing with a dodgy hamstring etc. etc.
  6. It looks like Moran to the 60-day IL.
  7. Service time is measured in days. Adding Lee for the last eight days would only add eight days service time, probably not a big deal. A bigger deal would be adding him to the 40-man, both in the short term and long term.
  8. Which is why they won't do something like that until their season is over.
  9. Paddack will probably be activated today and a move will have to be made for him. Same for Stewart, So two moves off the 40-man today. Gordon's 20-day rehab will be over on October 5, Alcalá's on October 8, so if the Twins are still playing then, two additional subtractions would have to be made to make room for them. In a previous thread someone predicted that Jovani Moran would be recalled and placed on the 60-day IL to make a space. If the Twins can do that, I'm sure they will. Otherwise, it is veterans like Keuchel, Floro, Gallo or Luplow or fringe roster guys like Celestino, Sands and Winder.
  10. I guess Luplow was actually optioned, something he had to approve, so he was never off the 40-man.
  11. This is the most Solano has ever played in a season and he's 35 years old.. I would agree that they are trying to get Kirilloff going and the Angels are going with two lefties after tonight.
  12. Gotta get Kirilloff going before the postseason.
  13. Willi has done most of his damage as a left handed hitter lately. Earlier, the splits were pretty close between LH and RH, but now his numbers look much better against righties.
  14. My ideal scenario for tonight is for Cleveland to lose prior to the end of the Twins game so that the last team standing is Detroit. Then, the Twins can win their game and clinch on the field.
  15. Pure titanium! Good for 18 holes today, but getting down to block low pitches would be a challenge.
  16. Today was the target day to activate Stewart. I don’t know if plans have changed, but there will be some tough active roster and 40-man decisions coming. There is room to activate Stewart with the Luplow DFA, but the other 60-day guys (Gordon, Alcalá and Paddack) will need to have room cleared whether they are on the postseason roster or not. I would guess Winder is the guy drawing the short straw if Stewart is activated today. If Paddack and/or Alcalá are activated someone else will have to go (Floro, Funderburk?).
  17. That’s correct. He did his 7-inning gig and left the game. Not an injury.
  18. I hope he can play and be healthy for postseason. He seems to rise to the occasion (great numbers w/ RISP). I’m still not sure he’s the third baseman long-term, but he could be a legit 30-30 guy hitting between #2 and #5.
  19. Dereck Rodriguez outrighted by Atlanta to AAA and Chi Chi Gonzalez was DFA ed for seemingly the 50th time (this time by the Marlins).
  20. I have zero confidence that Buxton will be able to play in the field in the next month. I also have my doubts that he can help the club as a hitter, either as a DH or pinch hitter. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next ten days.
  21. Nor do I, but if Kyle Farmer can do it, I'm pretty confident that Buck can as well.
  22. All right, the Twins can clinch by winning tomorrow or perhaps having both Cleveland or Detroit lose. Winning in sounds best.
  23. Tigers have scored in the top of the first.
  24. Guardians grab a 2-0 lead in the 6th.
