  1. Per BBRef: Sands has faced zero batters in medium or high leverage. Headrick has faced 10 batters in medium and high leverage (2 high leverage and 8 medium leverage). Winder has faced 5 batters in medium leverage, none in high leverage. The Twins have carried at least one of these guys all season and often more than one and they all reasonably could have been replaced by Andrew Bechtold, who could fill in at the infield positions.
  2. To echo a thought from the game thread, much less complaining about Arraez when López has another scoreless outing and Arraez’ OPS is about the same as Julien’s. Rocco seemed to think Wallner was okay, maybe out for a day or two. Lots of times, small fractures aren’t found on that first x-ray. Joe Ryan allowed one hit (homer) in four innings. Two walks and seven strikeouts.
  3. Five game lead with 39 to play. I don’t think the Twins were ahead by that much all of last year.
  4. One thing that has bugged me all year is the usage of long relievers in the bullpen. Sands/Headrick/Winder aren’t even considered in a four-run game. Sands has been on the roster almost all season and I don’t think he has thrown a high-leverage inning. To add to my thought, maybe it’s okay for Duran to pitch a medium stress inning considering his struggles lately, but either Winder or Sands should be the second guy getting ready.
  5. Does Rocco still go with Pagán with a four-run lead? I suppose since he was already warmed up.
  6. If Gallo replaces Farmer in the order and Wallner in the field, Rocco is out of moves.
  7. Jax edges back towards the Circle of Trust.
  8. Polanco has two team options available correct? I don't think it would be a bad idea to pick up the first option and look to trade him for the right offer. As far as him being a super-sub, the only position where he is close to average defensively is second base. With the supposed availability of Lewis, Correa, Julien, Miranda, Lee and Kirilloff, there really aren't enough at bats for all the younger players.
  9. I just saw that López is starting tonight and Gray tomorrow and they are going with Keuchel on Sunday. I'm going to the game on Sunday and wanted to see a winner.......chances diminish when your starter has an ERA over 9. Oh well! These are games that the Twins absolutely need to win (2 out of 3 anyway). Pittsburgh has slumped lately, but it looks like they are building something.
  10. I’ve enjoyed this game and just to make it more interesting, I’ve tried to include Twins or ex-Twins in every square. Yesterday, I used Steve Carlton as a Phillies All-Star and today C J Cron as a Rockie with a 100 RBI season. A couple days I used Ruben Sierra as a Texas Silver Slugger and Bret Boone as a Mariners’ Silver Slugger. If anyone wants to do the same, here are some Twins who played for a lot of teams: Terry Mulholand, Mike Morgan, Fernando Rodney and Lucan Hernandez.
  11. The ball took a weird hop and Baddoo and Greene are really fast.
  12. Okay, reverse jinx thing didn’t work.
  13. Jax hasn’t had a clean inning in a while.
  14. Hard to repeatedly trust Pagán in these high leverage situations.
  15. I’ll keep being critical when the reverse jinx quits working.
  16. Surprised they are giving Maeda the fifth.
  17. Maeda will probably be pulled at this point. 80 pitches and plenty of base runners.
