  1. Nice to see Edouard swing the bat, even though he struck out.
  2. I believe he has to spend 15 days at AAA, unless he’s recalled to fill for a player placed on the Injured List.
  3. Per Phil Miller of the strib,Ronny Henriquez is in Texas with the Twins, so Julien for Buxton and Henriquez for Varland.
  4. On today’s game—the Royals had more hard-hit balls and many more opportunities. It would have been very disappointing for them if they lost today. Varland has a high-velo straight fastball and ???? With exceptional command or if he’s got his secondary pitches working, he’s okay. I honestly don’t know if he really profiles to be better as a reliever. Agree that both Jeffers and Castro have had plenty of poor ABs lately, but two days ago, we could have said the same thing about Miranda. Hitting comes and it goes. Not a huge fan of using Durán as early as the seventh, but despite what some here have said, Rocco was trying to win. Martin should have caught Witt Jr.’s fly ball and he’s made too many misplays in the OF. I think he’s looked better than okay at second, but with his skill set, he needs to play more than one position. Its asking for an awful lot for this club to win against quality opposition without both Buxton and Correa. The completed 4-3 homestand vs. Cleveland and KC is status quo. One more win would have equaled success.
  5. Jax has been mostly a seventh or eighth inning guy. If he doesn’t hold the lead in those cases he gets charged with a blown save, if he does hold the lead he gets a “hold”, but it’s a one-way street as far as the save since someone else will pitch the ninth for the actual save.
  6. Same as the pitch Witt Jr. hit for a homer.
  7. Quick fourth for Louie with the GDP. Ragans looks dominant, but that could change in a blink.
  8. Audra’s update seems to indicate an IL stint is likely. Julien would be the default choice to be recalled, unless they go off the 40-man for Keirsey Jr.
  9. I’m sure that’s what Nick meant. Putting Buck on the IL is tough only in that finding a replace would create a 40-man issue. The only position players at St. Paul on the roster are Julien and Camargo as well as the injured Severino and Rodriguez. They could recall Julien, I suppose, and move Castro to the OF.
  10. The only surprise is Larnach. He didn’t start against the righty yesterday, so he’ll get a chance against Ragans—not good duty, but better than sitting two days in a row.
  11. Winder to St. Paul, Louie on the bump today. I don’t hate giving Ober an extra day. He’s on a pace to pitch a career high in innings. Basically a full BP to back up Varland.
  12. With Buxton out, the lineup tomorrow pretty much writes itself--Lewis/Miranda 3B/DH, Castro SS, Farmer 2B, Santana 1B, Martin LF, Margot CF and Kepler RF and Jeffers C. I don't think this is a throwaway lineup vs. a tough lefty.
  13. I guess they could send Matthew’s back to StP. Then he’d have to stay in the minors for 15 days, barring injury.
  14. I see Louie will be starting tomorrow, so Ober doesn’t get a chance for revenge against KC. Also, someone has to go down to make room for Varland. My guess is that Winder won a trip to Triple A by going two innings to close out the game.
  15. Correct, it wasn’t a pinch hit, but a SF wouldn’t break the 0-fer as a pinch hitter anyway.
  16. I know Zebby had one bad inning in one start that skewed his numbers at AAA, but asking for better than a disaster is about right IMHO. I’ll accept two runs in four plus innings and hope the Twins can get to Lugo.
  17. I hope Zebby’s center fielder tonight will wear #25.
  18. I asked the same question yesterday and the response was that although he was getting outs at St. Paul, his velo and stuff was way down, probably due to his ongoing knee problem. Reports had been mostly encouraging prior to that.
  19. I’d like to see Lewis in the lineup today, but there are too many options at the corners plus DH.
  20. Seriously? If the Twins are 1.5 back after the series, that is fine. Of course +.5 would be better.
  21. Nick Gordon went unclaimed after his DFA and was sent outright to Triple A by the Marlins.
