    agree with what you said, not any issues there but I still think of the football scenario especially college. You go defense first or if home team you know you are on defense first. Yes, you make adjustments and make plays and prevent a run, same thing in football. You make stops then you know how to play when on offense to get a run or multiple. I don't like the 10th being the inning, would like to see the 12th and at that point, why not have a runner on 1st and 2nd? Just thoughts, thanks your take on it

    You could say the strategy game is different as the visitor team vs home. So both losses we were visitor and if you don't score, home team has the advantage in my opinion. Kind of like winning the coin toss in football, you go defense first and you know what you need to do. Twins don't small ball anything so there is no pressure on Tigers to defend a bunt, hit behind the runner (except if it is Cruz). It's swing really hard and hope you hit a bomba mentality.     I too listened to the broadcast on MLB channel on you tube. They kept talking about pace of play and Gibson followed suit all game with his pace of play broadcasting. Didn't realize it was him but he sounded so old in the booth. Painful at times to listen to him slowly get the color commentary out.

    JD leg problems will not go away. He has a history with them and Twins should have been buyer be aware and yet, here we are once again. Fluke leg issue is one thing, but everytime he has to run, you cringe on the outcome. So taking him out for precaution, really means he is on the shelf for at least the weekend and most likely the road trip.

    You said Garlick looked bad, not sure what your definition of bad would be. Hit .293 with 5 Bombas as people like to say out of his 12 hits and 13 RBI's. Yes, spring training but he led the team in HR's and RBI's. I don't like the K's part. Kepler, Cave and Rooker combined for 19 hits, 1 HR and 7 RBI's.. If anything Garlick isn't the problem, take Rooker out of the equation and your RF starter and back up who were "guaranteed a roster spot" crapped the proverbial bed this spring. Garlick and Rooker fighting for job and performed deserve the spots. Give me a guy fighting for a job vs gifted one and I would take the fighter.

    Look at the abundance of outfielders we have and would we really miss any of the youngsters? It's a catch 22 but a good position to be in. So Kiriloff gets moved to NL, doesn't hurt the twins at all. Solid player but if the Twins play the service time scenario, then move him now vs calling him up and he potential isn't the end all answer. Not saying he won't be good, but great on paper now to get someone proven in Castillo would be a smart move. Package Tortuga in there for player flexibility and a High End SP prospect and see what happens

    Blind squirrel finds a nut everyone once in awhile is Astudillo in a "nutshell." One trick pony at the plate, doesn't help the twins. Nice story but he needs to be parked with St. Paul team. Give me Rooker, Blankenhorn or Garlick instead.

    Chris Davis contract was for long term guaranteed money on a couple years of hitting the long ball. Angelos has ruined the O's for the fans. Davis will make about $23MM this year and their team projected payroll is $39MM. He will hit about .200 and strike out more times that combined hits once again. Laughable if you aren't an O's fan. Talk about job security. They can't move the guy since it is all guaranteed

    park Astudilo in St. Paul and give me a Blankenhorn, Kiriloff, Garlick or anyone else. Infatuation with a swing at anything type of hype is tiresome

    Astudillo on roster is a yawn of a move or prediction. Plant his 1st swing antics in St. Paul and only call over for injury. Platoon fielder, not so much. No plate discipline what so ever, so put Kiriloff on the team and lets quit with the experiment. Tortuga works well for the publicity stunt of the Saints ownership. That's about it

    Let's hope the boomstick doesn't turn into a doom-cane. While I like Cruz from past two years, concerned Father Time will come on quickly come late July. While yes DH, requires less stress on the body than an everyday position player, you can't turn back the clock on an aging slugger. Let's hope it is different for at least one more year for Cruz.

    While Cruz may be considered the clubhouse leader, will we miss it if he is gone? I don't think so as if he was the mentor for Sano, was it really that inspiring of mentorship? Sano can whiff with the best of them or hit a double/HR. Give me quality/quantity pitching arms, which I think we have enough to date, one more SP might be nice, but I think we have 5 in the books. The way we count pitches and innings, I don't see the arms getting stretched out that we worry fatigue or injury. Plenty of MLB bats on this team to be DH. We have options and while Cruz is a bonus, year older and more money to make it work, isn't a good business decision in my opinion.

    Another Pirate Pitcher bites the dust and moves from lowly Pirates to the Yankees. Good for Taillon for getting traded. Bad for Pirate fans as the dumpster fire continues. In looking at the review of what Yankees gave up in their top 25 list of prospects, seems a bit much but its the Yankees.

    The talk has been a 4th or 5th starter because we have our top 3 on the board at SP right now. So this should be viewed as a 4th and 5th guy. Is it a splashy name, probably not, but it is a solid addition based on stat lines. 38 years old that has been very reliable and a workhorse. With analytics the twins love, he is 5 innings every time you hand him the ball and an occasional 6 or 7 and we are glad we have him. Splashy SP signing, do we need it for big bucks? Don't think so. I believe the 5th spot will be filled with the young guns and that is fine with me. Signing Cruz, won't happen until MLB decides on NL DH position. So, Cruz is playing his options as FA and I'm fine with that. Middle of Feb and Cruz can hop on board or not. Cruz is valuable but at $15M, he potentially is a team moves liability financially.

    Pirate dumpster fire continues. Owner doesn't care about putting butts in the seats during these times, he is scratching at making pennies in profit and is a business man only. He is isolating the locals (live outside of PGH) and could care less. They are a bad AAA team in big league wolves clothing. Bummed Twins didn't pull trigger to get Musgrove, not sure who I would have given up in prospects for him. Get Kuhl and a utility guy from Pirates, offering La Tortuga and .... (pirates need catching help and so much more).

    Pirates are perfect example. It's a business for owner profit and not a business for the people to enjoy baseball

    Musgrove should be an easy trade target to snag from the lowly Pirates. Living in Pittsburgh area, they booted Josh Bell to Nationals that was equal to a easy haul for Nationals and a salary dump by Pirates. Pirates aren't competitive, don't want high salary guys even if they are only a few million per year. The Pirates are minor league team, minor league ownership in a MLB stadium and uniform only. Give me musgrove and couple of minors leaguers and some cash and put in the rotation

    Health is a major concern for Buxton, not only his defensive play, but concussions are there as well. So with that being said, what is his value worth? $4-$6MM annually for maybe 100 games of action. Dynamic player, for sure, but he is becoming fragile. Have to trust the process of seeing what he is worth on the market and go from there. There is never a bullet proof trade in my opinion. As for Kepler saying it's demanding to play CF, quit complaining about it and do the job asked.

    DUI is a DUI but the timing of just days before he was hired as reported by ESPN is ESPN style to flare out the sensationalism in their reporting. The incident was back in February of this year. The police didn't file the arrest documents in the right jurisdiction. Not defending the guy at all, DUI is reckless but ESPN is reckless in the matter as well. White Sox should have known better if they care about background checks, etc. so let them have mud on their face by choosing a old timer. Go Twins

    So what we are saying here is slap hits aren't the Bomba way of the life for the twins. hate the shift, especially in double play situations

    Plate discipline is his key to success. Awareness of the strike zone and his ability to work his way into getting on base anyway he can. Something to say about that. Power, not so much but what would be interesting to see (don't have the analytics for it) would be getting on base with a walk vs a single in his AB's. Were there runners on base at the time that a single would have moved guys around the bases or no runners and he trots to 1st base? He knows his limitations on HR power, so taking massive swings to join the Bomba club isn't his game. Until the Twins figure out that the Bomba mentality is a cute thing and not the only way to score, Wade will be on the outside looking in.

    Some hard (or maybe not so hard) choices need to be made in the off season. I'll preach it again, but the way they are structured today is not fundamental on offensive side of the ball. It's homer or bust. Come playoff time it is bust. The "Bomba" mantra has too many guys looking to hit a 3 run homer when no one is on base. Can't happen in playoff baseball. Mgr moves were head scratchers, so is that youth at the helm or relying way too much on analytical data. Eduardo Perez play by play talked about how Dusty Baker (can't stand Baker, wearing wrist bands and OJ Simpson gloves as a manager fashion statement) talked during todays game about Dusty managing game one more on gut that the numbers. Sometimes your gut tells you the better moves. The shift in certain scenarios led to runs being scored, when runs are a premium in playoffs. Kudos to weak seeing eye singles, but they should have been outs and no damage. Walking to dugout on ground balls (Rosario) and not getting benched, mind boggling. Severe lack of plate discipline by most hitters, not all is fundamental. Bunt a guy over, force the other team to play defense, doesn't happen. Times a changing, turn the calendar over and now time to hit the links and head home. Crappy way to end the season
