    Do what works best - the object is to win the game you are playing and win as many as you can during the season. I don't mean to appear snarky, but we shouldn't over complicate this issue. The team's decision-makers primarily use their experience, observation of others and available applicable data to determine how best to accomplish these two outcome based goals.

    That's a little harsh. Rocco has done some good things - he can grow as a manager/leader.

    Whatever asset value the Twins get in return for Rosario only needs to surpass one season of Rosario at 9M a year. (Should be able to find that.) The Twins will likely move Kepler or Rosario, but not both. I agree withe the premise that Kirilloff projects likely into a significantly better hitter than Rosario as does Larnach. (Unsure about Rooker, but he offers a RH power bat.) That depth creates a situation in which the Twins are trading from a strength - almost always a good practice.

    Teams focused on winning consistently and winning championships in almost every sport deal from positions of strength. They are typically bold, make sound evaluations of talent, and don't hold on to players past their trade-worthy shelf-life unless they are completely vital to the core of the team. Based on that logic such that it is, of course the Twins should consider moving Kepler. There are many, many examples - one that might hit a chord is the Dodgers trading Kenta Maeda to the Twins!

    If Nelson doesn't return then find a DH who can play in the field some times giving more flexibility for line ups.

    I recognize there seems to be a troubling pattern of failure to produce under post season pressure for the Twins. If this has truly become a franchise culture issue and/or systemic since the 91 Championship or thereabouts it's going to take some decisive and dramatic changes to get different results. Chilling about it won't solve it.

    Great point about OBP. Dropped from .338 in 2019 to .315 in 2020. Just too many players with a lot of AB with poor OBP - Rosario, Sano, Buxton, Gonzalez, Garver, Polanco, Cave...

    Impressive article demonstrating the odds against the Twins losing like they have. Also it sheds light on the trauma endured in a special way by Twins' fans.

    Three times this basic group of core Twins have weakly bowed out of the playoffs in the opening round. Does that cause the FO to shake up the core some?

    Being a life long Twins fan these gut punch losses are common, but remain painful. I would like to see more intensity even if it's "out of character" for Rocco and his crew which has a little too cool for school look and feel to it.

    Twins are in a mini-surge that gives them a shot Division and #2 or #3 seed. The Indians, if they win tomorrow may well pass the Chisox as well. This is good stuff - consider what things looked like when Twins lost last game to the Sox?

    Interesting take, but I tend to disagree. The Twins should be well aware of Nelson Cruz's health issues if any beyond being 40+. If those check out the Twins should most. certainly bring him back if his contract demands are in any way reasonable. He also provides many qualities that make for a better and more cohesive team.

    Frustration with the Twins this week and in general are understandable given the lofty expectations for a team coming off 100+ win season that added some good pieces. But the postseason will be a chance for the Twins to do something special. The first round is best 2 out of 3 so any team in the tournament could advance including the Twins. Many teams in all major sports have over performed their regular season results (87 Twins) in the postseason, and I see that possibility with the 2020 Twins: 1. 3-4 Starting Pitchers who can shut down an opponent (Maeda, Hill, Pineda, Berrios) 2. A deep bullpen 3. Some big veteran bats who can change game with one swing (Cruz, Donaldson, Rosario, Sano) 4. Byron Buxton!!

    Twins remain in chase for division. 9 games remain - in terms of division huge game tomorrow v Sox. If get a w in that one it will still likely require 6-7 wins of. last eight to win it. Winning the division is an accomplishment on it's own, but it also sets up a likely more favorable wildcard round opponent.

    That leaves me asking two questions. Is this team hungry? And a bigger question is have they become soft and pampered? Where is the fight from this team? I sure as heck don't see it. It is always tough to judge intangibles such as "hunger" but the Twins have been outplayed by a wide margin in the first two games of the biggest series of the season so far.

    If the Twins take 3 of 4 in series in Chicago they set themselves up for a potential Top 2-3 seed.

    Sergio Romo is a proven player who competes his arse off. But tonight he went too far - Cleveland is struggling why give them a jolt?

    Buxton is a difference maker. (Stating the obvious, but big W for Twins and Buxton was right in the middle of it.)

    Well stated and surprising Twins haven't moved Wade or Cave down.

    There are 25 games remaining. If you assume 5 man rotation, five starts each: Maeda, Hill, Berrios, Pineda, Dobnak, Are Lance Lynn or Dylan Bundy types significant upgrades worth surrendering a future asset or two to acquire? It seems the Twins bigger needs are for better hitting outfielders assuming Donaldson can gain some form and make a big contribution. I see Rooker, Kiriloff and Larnach as upgrades over Cave/Wade. If Buxton comes back strong only need to replace either Cave or Wade? Are there any RH bats on the market instead of promoting from within?

    As pointed out by others many positions are really underperforming last year's numbers. The team badly needs Buxton and Donaldson to return healthy. and ready (defense and RH bats needed) A starting pitcher wouldn't hurt either - Pineda? Want to be a top 4 seed - is the in-house help on the way enough?

    The idea that the players, by not reporting to work as it were, are doing something wrong is a strange way to see it. It's between the players and their employers and if their employers give them a day off why is that offensive to anyone else? Particularly when they are taking a day off for something they consider of fundamental importance.

    The players are making a statement by not playing to draw attention to what they and many of their fellow citizens (myself included) see as injustice and on-going generations-old , systemic inequality. To affect change, as an early step awareness has to be raised and light needs to be directed at the problem. Bravo Minnesota Twins for their collective action.
