  1. There's a little-used clause somewhere in the Basic Agreement that says a team can terminate a contract due to "diminished skills." Manuel Margot is treading treacherously close to that line right about now.
  2. I was pretty sure the rules stated that, once he was out of the game, his spot in the lineup was just skipped. This sport teaches you something new each day.
  3. I'm having a tough day watching Miranda. Miranda's had a bad day.
  4. 94 PA against righties, 8 against lefties, coming into this game. Pretty extreme.
  5. Twins remain at home to face Seattle.. But it's still a getaway day for the BoSox and our Twins are being obliging hosts.
  6. Eagerly waiting for our crop of sagebrush to sprout.
  7. Still got a chance for the golden sombrero. Except clubhouses seem to have gotten away from awarding that, lest someone feel there's a stigma.
  8. There's also the saying in regular life, "your reach should exceed your grasp." Your coach's advice helps get away from coulda woulda shoulda, but at some point there's a breaking point.
  9. He did turn on the afterburners, once past first base, and I was afraid every leg muscle was about to explode.
  10. Red Sox turn around and return the favor right away.
  11. Real clear analysis in the moment by Morneau on that play at second base.
  12. Jose and Carlos thank Joe for taking them off the hook. 😀
  13. Miranda!?!? Terrible tag. Between Santana and Miranda we're suddenly doing our best worst ChiSox impression.
  14. Hoping for multiple sausage references.
  15. JEFFERS!!!! Why didn't one of the last three batters in the second inning think of trying that?
  16. Beautiful strike 3 pitch by Ryan against Rafaela.
  17. Plan 9 worked for the pitcher once the bases were loaded in the second inning.
  18. With Willi at the plate? Concur. 😀
  19. Dumb swings like Castro's on that 0-1 pitch could be at least a partial explanation for poor results with men on base.
  20. The opposing pitcher today: Criswell.
  21. Good two innings for Joe Ryan. I'm starting to think he's a keeper.
  22. I didn't post the link with that in mind, but there's a treasure trove of memories from 7 years ago. The two batters at the top of the Giants' batting order were Twins alumni, Denard Span and Eduoardo Nunez. Nunez is kind of fun to look back at. He amassed 3000+ plate appearances, yet his career WAR hovers around 0, and whatever you think of those particular metrics, the PA sounds weird but the WAR sounds about exactly right. 😀 His longevity puts him in somewhat exclusive company, as only about 2000 players ever came to bat that many times. The other side of the coin is that only about 650 of those compiled a lifetime OPS lower than Eduardo's .714.
