  1. I see that Clay Carroll is still alive and I hope enjoying retirement down in Clanton AL. Heck of a reliever for a long time.
  2. His delivery and timing reminds me somehow of Jerome Lester Horwitz*, not that the latter was especially known for jokes and monologues. *Curly Howard of the Three Stooges, just to save anybody a Google search.
  3. Hadn't noticed. Uffda, indeed. I am sure, though, that Diamondbacks Daily is full of helpful and constructive posts that will help the young man find his way forward.
  4. I do feel sad about the whole situation with Corbin, though. The Nationals were trying. Other teams bid, so they had to go high. And for the first season it was a good signing. Then he lost it somehow. But not due to obvious injury - it's not clear he has missed a start the entire time after that first good year. He answers the bell each time, he "owns" it enough to continue in a game like tonight's when it would be easy to find an excuse to walk off the mound. I'll never feel too sorry for someone earning that many millions of dollars, but it remains a sad situation.
  5. "I hope the next Twins batter gets a double. You know, entendre."
  6. I've lately been playing around with asking ChatGPT questions. Tell me a new Flip Wilson joke. ChatGPT: Flip Wilson's humor remains timeless, but since he passed away in 1998, there aren't any "new" jokes from him. However, here's a classic Flip Wilson joke for you: "I told my wife the truth. I told her I was seeing a psychiatrist. Then she told me the truth: that she was seeing a psychiatrist, two plumbers, and a bartender."
  7. Margot, "in play, outs." The world is back to spinning on its axis.
  8. Vazquez at the plate, "In play, no out"???? What in the wide world of sports is going on here?
  9. I'm glad Margot stole second. Less chance of Miranda passing him during the home runs trot.
  10. And Rosario himself would not replace that production, because he's not the same player anymore. Even with today's offense against the Twins his batting average is .190 and his OPS is .640. Rosario himself is the wrong place to be looking. Hence, the dead horse.
  11. Against this juggernaut Nationals squad the streak could go longer.
  12. BTW "right now" must mean less than 3 weeks because his OPS for the month of May is .478 coming into today.
  13. And people scoffed when we traded for him. Sheesh.
  14. Oh, sure, he's hitting a lofty .198. But it's an empty .198.
  15. Caleb "Ferme La" Boushley. Those French 101 lessons still haunt me.
  16. He knows he'll never top Stew Thornley climbing the foul pole at Met Stadium. The gods still walk the earth.
  17. Chill out. Only 277 games remaining on his guaranteed contract after tonight. It'll be all over with before you know it.
