  1. My thoughts also. He hasn`t been given a chance to really prove himself in the majors yet & he should be given that chance. Thorpe should not be thrown in the BP. Many think it`s a small thing to just to throw a starter there because they don`t jump in & dominate when called up. Some can make that switch easily, many can not. Some like Duffy & May had difficulty but eventually adapted when given a chance. Some should go to the BP but refuse. Thorpe has shown me that he has the stuff & spunk to be a starter & would not want to be a reliever. Let him go to AAA, I believe he`ll come back w/ a vengeance. Even w/ a shortened season an opportunity will provide itself & he show himself worthy
  2. In the middle our 2019 run, our BP folded which effected our fragile starting rotation. If we had those guys through out the season, we could have gone a long ways in the PS; w/ a fresh rotation
  3. Could it be what they had done last year at this time & what they did this ST?
  4. I totally agree that baseball should naturally be played outside. But this is Minnesota, where most years we have snow in the beginning of the season & is cool until June & at the end of the season is cool. Myself I enjoyed playing baseball in hot weather. The Metrodome I had many fond memories besides having a controlled environment we had a substantial home field advantage
  5. Very interesting. Just curious, what is this simulation based on?
  6. Another upside of a delayed season is the Twins don`t have to play in the cold weather outside.
  7. Pranks are part of baseball culture which helps make the sport more enjoyable. I really liked this article about how the Grapefruit League supposingly got its name. I always enjoy a clean prank & thought that maybe if anyone hasn`t seen this article should read it to uplift your spirits. https://www.mlb.com/news/wilbert-robinson-caught-grapefruit-from-a-plane?partnerId=zh-20200314-156906-47943&query_id=1026&bt_ee=0AJOWHOkIP8cUt6DanJjHpkdRTWGpW9f7XRQujUm2BcCowmweU%2B49BppEGE0BOKO&bt_ts=1584189814469
  8. Well balanced article, How this could benefit the Twins, more time for Buxton, Gonzalaz & Hill (although there`s no rush for him) to get ready plus maybe could improve Romero & Thorp`s situation to make the team. Also our rotation doesn`t have the stamina to last the whole season meaning a reduced season the rotation will be less tired. At the same time our nemesis CLE &NYY will also have more time to heal especially if it gets even more delayed
  9. Although Chacin should get the benefit of the doubt (I hope he does get it), Dobnak has proven himself that he deserves it. That being said I think maybe all the rotation pitchers except Berrios will have difficulty going long & could use help in long relief or be used w/ openers. So I`d be in favor keeping at least 2 of them up & rotate the others up when needed.
  10. Thanks for the info. I`m really keeping my eye on Vallimont seems like he has everything working for him. This draft they have a lot of great college prospects, was hoping to have more draft picks to take advantage of it. W/ college draftees they pass through the lower levels very quickly. We need some young pitchers thru the international drafts to help the lower levels stocked w/ pitchers. Yes, my hope is for us to imitate Cleveland in evaluating & developing aces to have a steady influx in our rotation. We`ve been always known for bats
  11. Like your article, I believe Buxton will be healthy enough for Kepler to receive his gold glove
  12. The main & 1st point of discussion before signing Donaldson was how his defense was going impact the Twins. The rest is icing on the cake
  13. I certainly hope we can extend both Berrios & Buxton (the BBs). It might be tough
  14. No. Although very soon we`ll have a lot, where we`ll have a dilemma relating to our 40 man roster that we`ll need to address very soon. Yes, we have a lot of depth which is great in case of injury. Arraez came up & proved himself. Excuse me but I think the word "impact player" is thrown around too freely. Yes, Arraez has a lot of potential especially hitting but he still needs improvement on his defense. Impact means a player that can alter the outcome of a season, IMO. Arraez substitution of Scoop IMO did not affect the outcome of the season.
  15. I might not know what I`m talking about but I think his approach is fine, to foul off pitches outside the zone & wait for pitches which he likes in the zone. I wouldn`t want change anything that might interfere w/ his rhythm.
  16. I`m so thankful that we have the DH rule that enabled us to take that extra risk of going that high of offer for Donaldson. When I saw him in a hitting video after we signed him, I was so excited what he could bring to the Twins as a mentor especially for Lewis (although it seems like Lewis still needs to work it out but he will & he could be great). Then I saw him in ST, his moves @ 3B were fluid & automation it was a joy to see. Last but not least is his hitting, he compliment the line up very nicely. Wish him a healthy & prosperous career @ MN.
  17. There is no reason for him to play hurt last year, we have abundant of quality LF substitutes. Rosario seems sincere when said he`ll improve in LF & his plate discipline. Hopefully he`ll resist temptation of trying to be the hero when the game is on the line
  18. You name pretty much who`s on my radar. Kiriloff & Larnach are MLB ready but lacks slots even w/ injury. My hope is on Lewis, Celestino & Jeffers. Only one you didn`t name is Colina, he has an arm on him
  19. Looks like he`ll be the #5 pitcher unless something drastic happens which I hope not
  20. I we get them while they`re down & get some revenge time
  21. I was torn between the 2 who was the best but Lewis has come out on top IMO. Because of his athleticism, he plays the important positions where the Twins are short in depth in CF & SS. Kiriloff plays less important corner outfield & 1B where we have an abundance of quality options. Lewis had a great AFL & now he`s tinkering on his swing again, when he figures it out he`ll be great.
  22. I`m a big fan of the new philosophy of tech & allowing pitchers to develop according to their style, putting us on the same playing field as teams like LA & CLE. That gives us the opportunity to go out & find high end pitchers that are stuck in old school teams which are under performing & under rated, get them play up to their potential beside developing home grown prospects
  23. Thanks for that insightful article, help gives us a promising outlook about Rosario. & I totally agree that Rosario needs to communicate any problems so he he can heal. We have players who can sub. I imagine he`s wearing some sort of ankle support. He probably needs one all season
  24. Very interesting article but I disagree that last year was a inferior rotation. When the BP were pitching over their heads the rotation were able to pitch fantastic but when Blake folded, the BP folded which the rotation had to pitch extended innings. Pineda & Odorizzi were kept on limited innings so they fared better. But Gibson & Perez were not when the desperately needed to be so their #s took a nose dive through out the 2nd half. All because we didn`t have the pitching depth to plug in young arm which were ready. This year we should have plenty of depth. The rotation should have plenty of rest. But I share your concerns. Hill has the stuff if his treatment is successful. Those who think that Maeda will transform into an impact pitcher that`ll pitch constantly 7 innings are delusional, besides all he`ll need to adapt to in coming here. I don`t have much faith in Bailey or Chasin
