  1. Berrios is a type of person who takes pride in what does & takes stock about his future. He will continually get better which makes me sad because it looks like he`s not satisfied here & he`ll go after the big bucks as soon as he can, while we watch his rise to stardom else where. I was looking forward to Berrios taking Graterol under his wing, I really believe it would`ve been a great relationship & a reason for Berrios to stick around. Now Graterol is gone, by these recent conditions it looks like Berrios will shake off the dirt from his cleats & move on. Aces don`t come along to MN very often so the FO office should taken this into consideration before trading Graterol. Berrios is a professional & will play his heart out as long he`s a Twin
  2. By the way I don`t give a d*** (dime) either
  3. To me MN has nothing lose either way. Hopefully if this doesn`t go thru for MN, they will approach Graterol differently selling him as a promising young ace (as he is) that they can be use as an opener & occasionally as a reliever (like Maeda) now, besides giving him opportunity to work on his secondary pitches w/o giving him too many innings in the minors. We can even find another #3 starter w/ even more upside w/o using primarily our pitching prospects Actually after all this display I hope it does go thru for everybody concerned
  4. The Dodgers limited his innings, great. They got the most from him. It`s what the Twins should have done w/ Gibson & Perez instead of trying to milk out as many inning as they could when their tanks were empty. If their innings were reduced they`d have better results than him. If they were high on Maeda fine, they should have traded someone closer to his trading value rather Graterol which is close to 2 Maedas & save Graterol in a combination trade for a real stud w/ a higher upside.
  5. I don`t like how they`ve handled Graterol. Moved him to BP reducing his value & then trading him for someone that doesn`t move the needle for us. They could`ve said we`ll use him as an opener W/ the impression of him still as a starter. If they really like Maeda they should have used a lower prospect & save Graterol for a pitcher that would be a #1 or #2 w/ potential of being an ace. I see Maeda equal to Archer in trading value, the difference is that Archer has more upside & Maeda is cheaper
  6. Boston & LA made out like bandits but MN got shafted. If they were thinking about trading Graterol why did they tell everyone they were going to put him in the BP. Even if they saw something that they liked in Maeda, Graterol is worth almost 2 Maedas. Gonsolin + a throw in would`ve been a better match. I was placing my hopes on Graterol to be our future ace, I don`t mind that they traded away Graterol but not for a solid #3. We just helped Boston & LA out of their problems so they can better their chances to win it all, while we`re still not improved that much & gave away a part of our future. We had already given David Ortiz to Boston for nada isn`t that enough!!! Let`s check out this deal LA gets all-stars Bets & Price + $$$ Boston gets future great CF & ace MN gets a 31 year old pitcher that didn`t make the play-off roster What a gut punch! I`m so bummed that I can`t bring myself to continue read TD articles
  7. Yeah! If you take away cheating the Twins are #1. Besides Astos, NY Yankees & Red Sox were warned about using electronic devices. Cheating should be better patrolled & more severely punished (like forfeit of game). Any suspicions should be able to contest & scanned for devices
  8. Thank you for this interesting article. A subject that I`m very interested in. As a present pitcher I like Chris Sales the best & more like an ace but don`t know if he can maintain his stuff that justifies his high contract & how available he is. PIT has some pitchers I like; Musgrove, Archer & Stratton. We have PIT early in ST maybe Wes will have a good look & swing a deal w/ Sheldon. By his record Musgrove is better & will cost more in trade But I`m not convinced in his stuff. Archer has a lot of upside & a change scenery will do him a lot good so he`s my #1 pick due to his availability, trade cost & upside. Stratton would be a low cost project. I believe Jon Gray #2 can be available at the deadline depending on where CO is. CO because of the location stress keeping the ball low so that`s why Gray has a high% GB, I believe he can have better stuff in enlarging his pitching selection MIA will have some pitchers available @ deadline if Wes can do his magic w/ them It all boils down who`s available & who Wes figures he can work w/.
  9. Happy that both catching prospects are in it even though they won`t make the team it`d be good experience for them! Donaldson will make a great presence especially the young prospects. It`ll be a lot of competition for the pitching spots, it`ll be a lot work working w/ & evaluating the pitchers, hope Romero finds a spot! Should be an exciting ST. Whatever happened to Walker?
  10. Although I`m sure I`m not the 1st to suggest using openers extensively w/ our rotation. Still I have for a long time. Last year Rocco started using our AAAA pitchers which I thought was great as openers, long relievers & starters. W/ the condition of our BP & later our starting rotation, we needed to use them more. Perez who isn`t a strong pitcher pitched 2nd most innings, Gibson who had a bout w/ e coli & colitis pitched a close 3rd most & the results showed their drastic drop off. If they could have been given less innings by the increase use of our AAAA pitchers the results would have been sharply better. Even Berrios & Odorizzi could have benefited from a little more relieve. Now this year especially in the beginning the season our rotation is drastically inferior than anterior. We need to max our pitching cap (thanks to our flexible bench we can do this) & using our revolving door of our AAAA pitchers, having a constant schedule of rotating AAAA pitchers from AAA to the bigs (we can also do this w/ our position bench too). This has many benifits#1 everyone is rested & healthier #2 all our AAAA players will have more experience #3 management point of viewAAA players won`t have too many ininnings. Thank you for this article & bringing up this issue
  11. Thank you everyone who contributed to this blog! You all convinced me that this dream will probably come later than sooner.
  12. Starting pitching is like a marathon, you need to pace yourselves in order to finish the race. If you send a relay team against a marathoner the relay team should win the race every time.In SP you have to mix it up a little to throw off the batters therefore not constantly throwing your best stuff. Berrios & Odorizzi probably better not using an opener but at the same time need to see what their max. pitch count should be & keep them rested. But the rest of the rotation I believe is better off using an opener.
  13. The power blues came in at the end of Carew`s Twins career & died when they they won the big one. They came in during the twinkies era not the Twins glory years
  14. Last year CO inch away from SD for last place by 1 game. This year SD has done much more in improving their team CO has done nothing & no really great prospects coming up. I like the core of CO players very much but odds are they`ll end up in last place. I like Marquez , He is an establish pitcher & will be very expensive. Gray is not so he`ll be more reasonably priced. I believe Gray will greatly improve away from CO, therefore providing more bang for the buck It`ll be very interesting how this will unravel
  15. The 2017 Twins FO traded some important players (believing they didn`t have a chance) the team came back & got in the play offs. The difference from Colorado today is that their GM Jeff has his a## on the line (he made some bad deals) & `17 Twins just came in & wanted to clean house. For them make the right call, they may have to fire Jeff
  16. In my heart I believe Sano is on the right track! Cruz should be proud of what Sano is showing, the new mind set & everything. W/ the new mind set & if he could shorten that swing when he`s in a hole plus the new relationship w/ hitting guru Donaldson; there`s no limit what he can do!
  17. You took the words right out of my mouth! Cleveland has established a pitching factory! The ability to draft, trade for young raw potential talent & create aces! They don`t depend on going after old past pitchers hoping for a bounce back or had 1 good partial season. Emmanuel Clase is a diamond in the rough that Cleveland could see & develop. Expect great things from him! Cranking out aces puts them in a position to be able to trade for any weakness they may have & more prospects. That`s what I aspire for the Twins. The Twins aren`t there yet so they may have to go after bounce backs to compete now So don`t count Cleveland out yet! As long they still have that old factory operating
  18. I love Donaldson`s passion, his enthusiasm, his swagger; I love it when a manager stick up for his players (it`s crucial) but I think it`s wise for a player to show restraint especially when he`s in the wrong. Only exception is when a pitcher intentionally goes after a hitter then I think the whole bench should come out. Most cases it`s the manager responsibility to dispute any calls. I`m sorry I`m not familiar w/ any of Donaldson`s spats but If any occasion that a pitcher went after him that would be my favorite
  19. I noticed that Archer`s trading value has 3x since Christmas via baseballtradevalues.com. So looks like many think that Archer will rebound this year w/ different coaching staff. If this keeps up, Archer will no longer be a bargain
  20. W/ ST approaching plan C will do, invite some non roster Walker & or Woods . & What`s the deal w/ Hill? I thought he already signed. It sounds like here there is still an option. I liked Hills signing better than Bailey ( though not guaranteed, there`s better upside) & he was excited to be a mentor to the staff.
  21. That`s what I`m saying. I know that the Rockies don`t want to give up their play off hopes. But for the Rockies get someone like Kris Bryant in exchange for Arenado is very unlikely. If the Rockies can`t compete w/ Arenado (one of the best 3B if not the best) they certainly can`t compete w/o him. The Rockies are strapped for money thru the Arenado contract & some bad deals they can`t go out & get FAs they don`t have the farm to go out & trade. I see them similar to Pittsburgh in this respect. Sooner or later they`ll have to wake up & see what everyone already knows that they won`t compete this year or in the future until they rebuild. To rebuild they need to trade for prospects & believe Jon Gray will be 1 of the 1st.
  22. A lot of people would like to trade Rosario because they don`t like his defense but do we have anyone below him that can hit better than him & play better LF? I don`t think so! This year Rosario`s goal is to improve his defense & be more patient at the plate. He has the tools to be a good or even great LF, if he determines to do so. Our prospects need to work on their defense, we need our prospect play both ways well. Our goal shouldn`t be make them all DH, that`s for older players who have paid their dues. I agree we need someone who can substitute at CF. Kepler is good but I`d rather keep him at RF. So Lewis is our best option right now & I`d like Donaldson get a hold of Lewis`s swing & do something w/ it. W/ the log jam in the outfield. the only solution is to trade them for impact pitching
  23. Great talent! He should be rated higher but I believe he`ll rise up in the ranks shortly & be acclaimed thru out the league
  24. Ted Schwerzler wrote a great article that the Twins need to target the Pirates as a great trade possibility now. I totally agree! But I`d like to present possibly another in the near future & that`s the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies had a losing record last year, well out of contention of any play off possibility. This off season they didn`t do anything but yet they believe they still have a chance to make it this year, so they said they don`t want to trade. Now w/ the Arenado situation, I believe they will have to trade him. I believe Arenado really wants to win it all so he finally woke up & realized that the Rockies aren`t going anywhere therefore he wants out. He has an opt out option after next year & when the FO realizes that he`s going that route they have no choice other than to trade him. W/o Arenado & a very weak farm system they`ll have to take the route of rebuilding. https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/its-time-to-break-up-the-rockies/ That brings up Jon Gray, he`s been compared as the next Gerrit Cole https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-sports/twins-daily-finding-the-next-gerrit-cole-a-rocky-proposition Since this article I`ve been dreaming of a Jon Gray trade. Gerrit Cole wasn`t that great w/ the Pirates but when he arrived at the Astros his career took off. If we get Gray I believe he`ll become an ace for us. Although I don`t know for sure ,I`ve heard he`s not satisfied at Colorado. I know Colorado is looking for a high prospect catcher but hopefully they`ll get it when they trade Arenado so we don`t have to use our high catching prospect. Then we can trade pitching & outfield prospects. It`ll cost us a couple of high prospects. Many teams will be after him so we need to be ready What do you think?
