Always thought Graterol was a good fireballer that had some good stuff but not until I saw him pitched against the Yankees that I saw greatness (which I don`t throw out very often). This young 21 yr. old poised against the NY monsters, I figured we had something special that we should hold on to. A true impact pitcher that could come in under any circumstances & get the job done. Twins lost patience w/ him, for goodness sake, he`s only 21 not 32. He should have been given every chance to start in his time not to fill in at BP in the beginning of this season, we have a few desperate pitchers that would love to fill in that role. Work w/ him sometime during the season he`d be ready to start if not he could put in some innings at the end of the season in BP. I still can`t understand why they traded him & not a positional player. If LA was so determined to trade Maeda for Graterol & not a positional prospect, FO should have walked away. We could have done better else where w/o trading Graterol. I saw greatness in David Ortiz when he was w/ the Twins, it hurt me tremendously when they let go. Likewise I was hurt when they traded Graterol. I`ll miss the great moments & career he should have had in MN PS- "impact" is a word that`s thrown around a lot lately incorrectly " valuable that fits a certain need" is more acurate

Cleveland too is a low market team, I believe I saw their payroll is under $100,000 around $90,000 I think but yet they always seems to compete. I believe it`s because they focus on pitching & defense. Like I said before they have an ace factory which always cranks them out regularly. I believe Romero needs to get his confidence back, hopefully this year he`ll find it & get the chance to prove himself. We have some hope w/ a great stock of pitching prospects for a bright future. MN has very good coaches to develop pitchers so far they have done wonders. Maeda is a good pitcher but I wish people would stop drinking LA & MN FO Kool-Aid. LA has a great pitching organization they need someone like Maeda to be a great SP/RP to help anchor a lacking BP & fill in as SP when needed. So why were they so determined to trade him for "damage goods" LA had Graterol records & sure he was he was extentively scouted? It`s because they could see 21 yrs.old Graterol as an impact pitcher for many years to come on the cheap instead a 32 yrs. old. Why didn`t MN wisely offer a positional player instead which wouldn`t have hurt? It`s because they started to drink their own Kool-Aid. I wish the Twins rotation well & they should w/ better line up, defense, BP to support them & a deader ball

May has found himself, bring him back Cruz, keep him as long as possible Odorizzi hope the best for him & he stays Gonzalez, if Gordon is our best replacement we have to keep him but I believe Astudillo & Lewis will find themselves when that happens Gonzalez is gone Hill, is a crap shoot hope to get something from him come this Oct. that`s it Bailey. waste of time & $.

Opinion: Manfred Proposes a Playoff Restructure
Doctor Gast replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
One thing I don`t like about it which someone had beat me to in another thread is that towards the end of the deadline most teams will believe they`re still in it & hold on their player instead of trading them. It`s bad enough the way that it is. -
Does my heart good to see these sacrifices to maintain this wonderful & wholesome culture into the family community. Many times they are under-valued & ignored then society suffers

Twins Project for Big Things in 2020
Doctor Gast replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
There`s a lot of variables but these projections give us a good estimation. Is there a stat that shows a pitcher`s era w/ each time thru the batting order? or where can I find that?- 13 replies

Twins Daily 2020 Top Prospects: #6 Jhoan Duran
Doctor Gast replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
To me he`s our real diamond in the rough left. Diamonds are very rare (very hard to come by) & precious so we need to take good care of them & hold onto them. Only a year older than Graterol he has many years to develop into an ace we desperately need. His talent we need to keep him as a starter & make every attempt to do so. Not make the same mistake the 3X. The small temporary gain of having him in an already full BP is not worth the cost of not grooming him as our future ace.- 23 replies

Marwin Gonzalez Addresses Media, Expresses Regret
Doctor Gast replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It`s all common knowledge & the Commissioner didn`t want to do anything until someone let it slip in an interview & it became public & the Astros got caught. The same thing about the buzzers. I believe Boston & NYY were given a warning but nothing was done, they still probably did it last year. I wish some "remorseful" players from all the team which practiced this would come forward so those teams could be punished & all the victims could be justified. Gonzalez probably advised the Twins when they played the Astros to change their signs more frequently because the Twins had good results against them last year- 120 replies

Twins Daily 2020 Top Prospects: #7 Ryan Jeffers
Doctor Gast replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I remember when people started to talk about trade deal sturrounding the need of an impact pitching. Jeffers name came up & I rebuked them, they came back with we don`t need him we have Garver. Yes we need impact pitching but we need to trade with where have an abundance not where we could lack. We must always need to eye the future, we need him as a future catcher & shortly back up. We don`t have an abundance of great catching prospects. He`s worth holding onto! -
Garvers mind set will make him better. Most definitely on defensive, it`ll be hard to match his #s offensively w/ the less lively ball but comparatively he should maintain aproximately the same level. I prefer Astudillo as the extra bench because of his versatility. Him as an extra catcher is a big advantage. If he can show he can improve his plate discipline while playing in the bigs he stays if not he goes down to begin with

Graterol going to LA instead of Boston is a small consolation. At LA, I know Graterol will be evaluated properly & handled right. I feel Graterol will do great there & make us regret trading him. LA & Cleveland have a great pitching staff. They know how to scout, draft, develop, handle, evaluate, trade for promising young talent & dump those which are inferior. I can only hope one day MN can come close.
-
Usually what I see & my gut feeling are pretty true. But 2 or 3 years down the road, When Berrios becomes a FA & Graterol have time to stretch out & develop & we`ll see where Maeda is or even after this year, we`ll see if Wes can develop Maeda into a true starter. If I`m a little wrong I`ll admit. My assumption (not based on anything just my opinion) about Donaldson signing w/ the Braves was wrong & I admitted it. I`m a passionate Twins fan, I won`t agree w/ everything that FO does, when I don`t I`ll give my side hoping that FO get a different perspective in what they are doing. By the way I`m not against the Maeda trade, I`m against trading a precious top 100 ML ready pitching prospect for him. We have abundance of positional players possibilities we need to use but didn`t. Maeda used as LA did, limiting his innings SP/RP, he`ll be a great asset
-
I`m sure LA & Boston is very happy, way to go FO! Boston saved $ on payrole & doesn`t have to pay luxury tax, w/ the $ they saved maybe they get Betts next year when he`s FA. LA has a chance to win maybe this year WS & they don`t have to deal w/ Maeda case. But hey we got Maeda & maybe Wes can work his magic & turn him into Johan Santana to help compensate for what we had to give up. If he can`t & Maeda remains a terrible 3x the order pitcher we can turn around & trade him for a top 100 ML ready fireballer & 2 other prospect. What are we going to w/ our logjam of OF prospects, that needed to be addressed 1st. I feel sorry how Gaterol was treated. put into BP because we couldn`t waste any of his pitching in the minors. Now put him thru hell because he didn`t fit in the plans & let him go (like Ortiz) & then put him in limbo (FO should have pulled the plug right away & stuck to their guns) Via con Dios mi amigo, sad to see you go, we`ll miss you & wish you well. The way thing are going Berrios will be right behind you Sorry to let off steam but I needed to get this off my chest. I`ll say no more. Only to say I told you so later

Minnesota Twins: Don't take the Red Sox "sucka" deal
Doctor Gast commented on billyp4444's blog entry in Ports on Sports Blog
The Twins are the good guys helping these big market big spenders out of their problems. We don`t need this trade! We can do better else where w/o wasting a high ML ready pitching prospect. We won`t regret walking away now! If we continue this limbo is not healthy for this team & we`ll regret it! Please FO do us proud! -
Another Year of Intangibles
Doctor Gast replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I`m excited to see this special chemistry come to fruition. This chemistry will drive each player to improve even greater. Some say that there`ll be a big drop off in productivity but I don`t see it. Yes the ball won`t be as lively & some might have a slight pull back but overall we`ll see improvement especially defensively. Rosario is committed in this area & I imagine Arraez, Polanco & Sano are too. We have many valuable players & some impact players. Many throw out "impact" very loosely. Buxton is an impact player, when he`s on the field something happens, it`s exciting to see & he inspire others. But others are more valuable because they are more able to produce over the season. Hopefully Buxton will be healthier. I also see Graterol as an impact pitcher but because of his condition he`s not as valuable as others. When he does pitch it`ll be exciting & in the future he`ll be more valuable especially w/ Berrios mentoring (hopefully this tie will keep Berrios aTwin as Cruz was attracted to Sano. Together w/Baldelli`s coaching staff & the FO, I look for great things! GO TWINS!!!!! -
Graterol has gone thru a lot, he`s been in limbo long enough. Finalize this. I see Maeda like Perez, a pitcher who wants to be a starter but don`t have the stuff to go 7+ innings for very long. Records show that Maeda after 3x around his efficiency drops off tremendously if Perez was on limited innings his results would be better than Maeda. Don`t get me wrong, I like Perez but I don`t think anyone would trade Perez for Graterol. Also it looks like LA maybe was trying to pond off Verdugo (w/ that abusement charge)

Why all the questions about Twins pitching?
Doctor Gast commented on Supfin99's blog entry in Supfin99's Blog
Just to remind everyone; last year, Gibson had just gotten over e coli & battled colitis the rest of the year & Perez was not considered as a pure starter but more of a reliever who wanted to start. But yet both pitched several more innings than healthy pure starter Odorizzi. They both pitched phenomenally until they ran out of gas. If they were limited innings like Maeda, their stats would be much better than his. Records show that Maeda`s efficiency drops off drastically w/ batters 3rd time around. I`m tired of Gibson & Perez bashing. Sorry, I was more optimistic w/ last year`s non contending rotation than this year`s contending
