  1. That's what I assumed. If Buxton didn't want to be traded that's 1 more reason to keep him. How many impact players like Buxton would want to play here. Stupid on FO part not to jump all over that.
  2. Montas / Kiriloff are pretty close to even up, but I'd bet it'd never happen. The A's need a 2B or a 3B if they trade Chapman which I think they will. That should make Arraez attractive as the headliner together with pitching prospects Canterino and Duran would be fair. But since they are motivated it could be lesser prospects. The FO needs to be persistant in counter offers to make this happen. Where did you hear that? IMO RHP Montas is much more appealing than LHP Manaea
  3. Rortvedt is our best defensive catcher with a much better arm than Jeffers. LH hitting catchers are a premium, when given time to hone his batting skills, I can see him a better hitter than Jeffers. Many were down on Rortvedt because his hitting was subpar in his early intro to the Bigs. Daulton Varsho another LH hitting catcher (also from Wisc.) had simular stats his 1st call up. But had much better stats his next year, now he is a highly rated catcher. Trading Rortvedt IMO was our greatest loss, in what he can bring in the near future. I would not do this trade or TX trade. I'd figure some thing else out and trade Arraez and Jeffers for front line pitching.
  4. This trade stinks to high heaven. Lost our premier 3B, SS and near future catcher for what? 2 losers????????????????. free up some $ to get Story, not worth it! not even close!!!!!!!!!!!!! So far we have traded away 4 premier positional under-valued players (Garver, Donaldson, IKF and future Rortvedt) that should not have been touched, ending up with 2 losers and 2 - 40 man roster fillers. While the most expendable back up players, with the larger value (Arraez and Jeffers) and over abundant bat/ no glove types (too many to list) that should have been used to obtain high end SP via trade were not touched. Many like to blame last year poor showing on injuries. CWS had more even from the beginning. The problem w/ injuries is that when you lack adequate quality depth at key positions you nose dive. For many years at CF we had Buxton after that nobody. Cave is absolutely NOT a CF and Kepler (though much better) when subs takes a hit both offensively and defensively and we suffer at RF. So when Buxton is out we suffer tremendeously which factor in lost games. Quality at LF suffered last year. Long relief has not been addressed for many years which SP & high leverage RP has been over burdened. When Polanco was thrown at SS, we suffered because he is not a SS, we did not win because Polanco was at SS it was inspite of it. Now through these trades we have greatly depleted our once strong & valuable catching depth. For what? Don't they take these things into consideration? What is their standard for evaluation? These positions are important and not that easy to viably fill. I don't know how they possible fix this mess they have created.
  5. We traded away our present premier and near future LH hitting premier catchers together with our recent premier SS. I couldn't believe it. It only makes sense if Sanchez bats LH and they are going after Story.
  6. Thanks Nash, I've never given up on this core. If we trade for Montas and finally get a true CF back up, we could surprise a lot of people, especially if we put together a strong long relief core to support SP and short relief. If I was a betting man I'd put my $ on the Twins.
  7. I've always stated that this FO doesn't know how to a inniate a big smart trade. I now stand corrected. This is a fantastic trade that has really helped our hurting rotation, w/o giving up very much. Great job FO ! With this trade you have instilled in me, convidence in you. Keep going & keep up the good work.
  8. Probably my 6th choice, we should have done much better. A good deal but at this point I wouldn't think about extending Gray, where my other choices I would.
  9. IKF was one of my options at SS but Garver wouldn't be my choice in this trade. Losing Garver will definitely reduce our line-up offense. I see Rortvedt being our near future premier catcher, so I'd prefer use Jeffers and get something more in return together with IKF. There are many other avenues I would've done instead of this one but I imagine that many possibilities were discussed before this deal actually went down. Although the deal hurts, IMO the gain outweighs the loss
  10. I'm very happy that they did something to cover that need at SS. IKF is one of the best options out there right now. I hate to see Garver go, would rather see them trade Jeffers instead, but our greater need is at SS. I'd rather have Rortvedt spend more time in AAA to better hone his hitting (I see him as the Twins near future premier catcher) hope they can bring in a Castro type to fill in this year.
  11. Our biggest hole is SP, so I'll start there #1 move trade for Montas (A's) and then extend him, #2 trade for Bassit (A's) and then extend him or sign Rodon or trade for Odo. #3 sign Archer, after not pitching for 2yrs. he had a rough 1st outing but after that he was dominate his 1st 3 innings He'd fit perfectly in the proposed opener scenario. He's a great mentor. Under Wes Johnson he can perfect even more his fastball, slider & change up. I'm sure he could be gotten w/ a low salary/ incentive contract. High reward low risk. #4 obtain a viable SS. IDC if we sign Story which is my 1st choice or trade for one or resign Simmons. But especially with our young rotation we need a glove primarily at SS. #5 bring in a true CF to back up Buxton. #6 get a high level BP arm maybe Tepera or Richard Rodriguez. This is optional because Alcala could be used there or he could be used as an opener/ long relief
  12. Both the A's and Reds are looking at salary dumps. But the Reds will want high prospects so my choice would be the A's Montas and or Bassit. I believe the A's need a full time 2B or 3B if they trade Chapman which I think they will. Arraez would be an almost painless trade piece for my #1 Montas. To solve our SP delema is worth almost any cost that won't drastically effect our future.
  13. I was a little encouraged when Flavey said that he was considering trades before the lock out. But the little that I had was deflated when he address the SS situation. He stated that they were considering Polanco at SS (OMG NO!) haven't they learned anything! That Arraez is available to play the INF, which tells me that they aren't looking at any trades that'll move the needle and they don't care about our INF defense. They didn't say anything positive about Palacio and that Lewis is a big ???. What I wanted to hear was that they acknowledge our holes at SP, SS and back-up CF and they are focused on filling those holes outside the organization with viable options. This shows me that they are oblivious to those needs and how to resolved them. It seems like they can't inniate a right move unless they are pressured into it (signing Buxton extension and moving Polanco off of SS for a viable one). This FO has promised that they'd produce a competitive team every year during their tenure. We still have a great core capable of great things with painless addItions but if they don't change their mindset this team will become a perrenial bottom feeder.
  14. I'm very excited to see what players transactions will the Twins finally do!
  15. Yeah, pretty depressing, Buxton is the only one that really worked out. Which causes me to wonder why the Twins were so bad at this? Has the Twins been so bad at evaluating talent, developing talent or both? Consequently, it seems like the Dodgers were able to have success at both ends to produce a successful major leaguer.
  16. Truly a great player that hasn't had the best luck because of his all out efforts. He has matured and that should effect his on the field presence, apart from being beaned. Resigning Buxton is a no brainer, because of his talent and his desire to stay with the Twins. What I don't understand is why it took so long for the FO to OK such a team friendly offer? Buxton is hitting his prime running. He has always been an impact player defensively and on the base path, but offensively he has really turned it up. It seemed like when I was on my way to visit Mom, through out the years, Buxton would hit a triple and I'd miss my exit because I was so excited. The 2021 high lite for me was when Buxton beat out an infield hit (which 99.999% MLB players couldn't have done), stole 2B, advanced to 3B on a fly ball and scored on a shallow fly. That gets me excited, not a 500ft. HR. Buxton is a MVP type player and my wish is that he can do that this year. Happy Anniversary Buck! Wish you a very illustrous career!
  17. Thanks, Seth; I'm excited about both of them, they'll add much needed depth up the midddle. Martin & Lewis just naturally seems to go together hopefully this time around they can stay together.
  18. You can't expect the 2019 "live ball" production for this year or any year. We've lost Cruz but we still have a great core which I think has a higher "upside" than most people think. Yes we have many holes especially in pitching but I think we can fill those holes with very little loss. By trading redundant players & prospects we can acquire 1 or 2 bonafide veteran pitchers that can greatly aid our younger prospects to learn the ropes and take away most of the pressure of young prospects to carry the team. I'd rather lose some players via trade than Rule 5 draft. If we don't try to upgrade our team and compete and w/o the guidance of veterans, I fear it could cause our young prospects to flounder and we'd be no better off and create aother "Twinkie Era" (heaven forbid). Although most "pundits" don't like our pitching pipeline, I am hopeful. I don't want all our present talent go to waste, by punting again. We are on a very slippery slope, if we don't try to compete this season, don't ever think we can in the future. I believe we can't let this FO off the hook. Although I'm optimistic with this pitching pipeline, I'm pessimistic with the rest that the do. This FO needs to be shaken from their complacency due to the unduly confidence from the Pohlads,
  19. I see an uptick on up and down the line up. Polanco has shown what he can do when he's 100%, If kept at 2B we'll see a full year of being 100%, it'll be awsome. Garver has shown that he figured it out, so I expect a much better year at the plate, how great depends how healthy he stays, These 2, I expect biggest jump offensively. Buxton is a MVP caliber player, I expect the same this season, His #s has improved the last three years, it hard to see improvement on what he did last year but with Buxton it's possible. If we can find a viable backup for him to take off the pressure and help keep pitchers from throwing at him, it would vastly improve the team. I expect him to be on the field more this year. Sano' and Kepler are the biggest ?, I am very hopeful that they've solved there problems and have amazing seasons. The ban on the shift will help Kepler even if he hasn't figured all out, he'll have a better season because of the rule. Kiriloff and Larnach very good prospects, IDK if they'll be very acclimated to MLB yet, especially Larnach this season but they should be better. The dialed back Donaldson will be steady and hopefully be healthy for most of the season. I don't see any improvement with Arraez, maybe some time at DH could help both of them. Pitching is another ?. With unestablished arms, for me is impossible to set expectations, As the league adjust to them, how are they going to adjust? IDK what to expect from Bundy, Dobnak is the only other established pitcher we have. Dobnak could be a force but it depends on if he masters his new slider and if he's used right. There are so many holes that's necessary to fill that'll give us a satisfactory outcome in pitching. #1 Acquire established veteran arms #2 Defensively acquire top rate gloves at SS and CF backup (I don;t like depending on unproven prospects and put unnecessary pressure on them like we did last year) #3 Have a large long relief corp to take off the burden from the SP and short relief.
  20. I wish Austin can really shine at this opportunity because we need someone to step up to be a good back up to Buxton. Earlier it was discussed about saving Garver. It was mentioned that he could play some 1B. Some one said that Kiriloff shouldn't play 1B because because we really don't have anyone to play LF. I agree with whoever said that because we don't. But it leaves an open door for Cave to sneak back in. There were a lot of minor league contracts signed for INF but none for OF. It's like they don't care if we are really hurting for MLB ready OF gloves as long as Cave has his opportunity.
  21. I watched college baseball yesterday and really enjoyed how baseball is supposed to be played.

I'm sorry TopGun but Hank Aaron did bat cross-handed, at least part of his career. https://www.foxsports.com/watch/712568899832
  23. In the interview with Seth, I was very impressed by this young man's attitude and love for the game. I believe those attributes will take him far. I hope he fullfills all his dreams, sky could be the limit.
  24. I love Rortvedt defense & arm but I agree that he should stay down a little longer to hone his hitting skills. Once he does that it'd be awsome to have LH hitter as catcher, Also agree that we need to protect Garver, once he's completely healthy he'd be awsome. We can put him at DH also at times to give him a break.
