  1. Another reason for electronic strike zone is now catcher are catchers are catching closer to the plate to get more strikes. Because of this Conteras broke his arm. If we have an electronic strike zone that won't happen & will prevent future injuries
  2. I tend to evaluate more on what has been developed, ability to adjust, floor & character. That's why my evaluation on SWR prior hadn't dropped that much. Raja has a higher ceiling but his development is behind SWR & Festa so his floor is lower. Like you Cody, those 3 are the top, IMO they are very close right now. I could go SWR as #1. SWR had a great start, I imagine the league will get to know him & adjust. IMO SWR will readjust hopefully quickly.
  3. Great game by Ryan, Although it's nice to get served up meatballs to produce solo HRs. But what will win the close games is the grinding out ABs not striking out & get those clutch hits.
  4. Rugby! cool. What time did you watch the game in Hong Kong? & How's Hong Kong?
  5. Early into the slump fans were blaming the line-up that we needed players with more thump. Others were blaming Pohlads for not spending the money to go get those thumpers. Others were blaming the coaches that they needed to be fired as soon as possible. Some said no to all of them & blamed the hitting approach. When Baldelli recognized the problem & said we need to change our approach is when things started to turn around. Baldelli couldn't resend everyone down to Ft. Myers for a mini spring training. Playing CWS & LAA was the next best thing for the team to straighten out their swing. Give credit to Baldelli for recognizing the problem, coaches for implementing the new approach & players eagerness to change & put it into practice. Now that we have gotten that resolved, when Lewis returns well be ready to face the toughest teams. With another postseason SP we can go far.
  6. Umpiring is so difficult, with everything happening so fast & try to get it right. There is human bias bigger teams are favored over smaller ones, vets especially popular ones get favored over rookies, each ump calls strikes & balls differently. Raunchy fans can pressure umps to make a certain call. Miss calls make a lot of difference for the pitcher or batters in leverage, Managers & players can't argue strikes & balls. Some say it's entertaining to watch managers argue but it doesn't pay & the ump can get it in for you. The electronic strike zone will eliminate human error & make it uniform. I prefer fairness more some crazy form of entertainment. If you like to be entertained maybe they can direct an allstar-wrestling match with a fake manager fake pile driving a fake umpire at the 7th inning stretch. You have human error yet I've watched replays believing it was one way & yet HQ called it the other. Sometimes even replays it's difficult to get it right. IMO we need to eliminate human error as much as possible. That's means eliminating as much as possible referees' errors & absolute dictating.
  7. I apologize, I was wrong, The replay doesn't tell the whole story. Watching the whole play I could see that the ball wasn't that deep & Julien was in the best position to catch the ball. And Martin was late at calling it or Julien couldn't hear him until the end & not able to get out of the way.
  8. I reviewed that whole play, & I apologize, I was wrong. The ball wasn't that deep & Julien was in a better position to catch that ball.
  9. If it was 100% on Martin then the professional ref would have called an error on Martin. None was called. One who is running in is in a much better position than the one running back
  10. I think many see the thumbs-down symbol as something negative & rude & that is why I avoid using it. IMO to disagree isn't something negative especially if an open debate occurs. I'd like to see the disagree symbol removed & if a person disagrees then open an intelligent debate but if many would like to keep, I suggest changing the symbol.
  11. I'm sorry Chief you are wrong on this one. If you were able to watch on the replay Martin caught the ball & would have remained caught if not collided with Julien. Although Julien was in the wrong, I give him A for effort & chalk it up as a learning experience. Even though Martin had further to go, he was in a much better position to catch the ball & Julien should have stayed out of his way. as the common rule of thumb indicates. As he gave up early on the 2 high pop flies in RF showed me he had learned his lesson.
  12. Most definitely Miranda should be at 1B as the RH platoon. But is & should are 2 different things as long as Santana is there he won't. Kiriloff doesn't really affect Miranda.
  13. Zebby is one step closer. Wallner had a good game but still struck-out twice, still the Mudhens' pitching was pretty awesome.
  14. Martin caught the ball but the ball was knocked out after colliding with Julien. You always yield to the OFer in a high pop fly in the OF & get out of the way even if you can get to it. Julien learned by letting Larnach have the next 2 in RF. It's a shame that it happened but it was a learning experience for Julien.
  15. While many disagree in Twinsland, at catching, defense trumps offense. I remember in an interview with Corbin Burns which he says "It takes many months to develop a good working bond with a good catcher". Vazquez has put in the work to establish that & now we see the fruit of it. Thank you Hunter for bringing the importance of his defense to light. Like you said his batted balls will fall in but if it doesn't, his defense will carry him. In many ways he's valuable to the Twins.
  16. As long as they don't call it a "pitching root canal". Now that would create a negative reaction.
  17. Thanks for the update. I'll keep a close watch.
  18. A month ago the fans were asking for the coach's heads. The coaches can't do anything if the approach is wrong. Once the approach was corrected we saw a quick turn around. But you're right that the coaches need credit for incorporating the new approach so quickly.
  19. Everyone did well on "Pablo Day" especially Pablo. I was impressed by Miranda being an all-around player. We should have swept probably the best rotation in baseball. Great way to start our series with Toronto with a rested BP.
  20. I was impressed by Miranda. Known more as a slugger, has shown that he's also a hitter, a smart base-runner & not a bad 3Bman.
