  1. That’s a long article to say, “Um…so, no”.
  2. If they trade Correa, will the payroll be more, the same or less than last year. Uh-huh. I thought so.
  3. Last year, Santana was the ONLY guy. Halftime players don’t qualify, and utility guys, while necessary and vital, are a need in addition to the 5 guys. Remember when you could name every Twin at every position? I can’t, due to platoons or injuries name ONE position that has one of the “five guys”. With Santana probably gone, it starts with ONE guy!
  4. I would feel a lot more comfortable with it (playing a 3/4 with marginal offensive upside) if we didn’t have the exact same situation at 2B, 3B, LF, RF and CF and SS half the time. Catcher is shaky also.
  5. Well, they can’t trade Vasquez AND non-tender Jeffers. Neither is good enough to be a primary starting catcher. I don’t think anyone is giving us *anything* AND paying all of Vasquez’ contract. I don’t believe they will trade Vasquez unless the gaining team pays all his contract. Non-tendering Jeffers doesn’t hurt us defensively, but it is a ding to the offense. Most of that can be mitigated by some prospect at a different position. Will it make the team better? Probably not. Will it save money? Yes. Will they therefore do it? Probably.
  6. I don’t see the Twin’s handing out a 3 year deal to a utility player with the club up for sale. I think they non-tender Castro.
  7. I don’t see them making any significant trades until they have a solid feel for how the market feels about the value re: a sale. You don’t do major work on a car or house AFTER you put it on the market. Maybe if it becomes clear no on is interested at your asking price…
  8. Wow! You value our players WAY higher than I think the league does. Why does everyone on this site think teams will trade good MLB players for our flawed AAAA players?
  9. I serious doubt they trade for real guys. It would require a payroll increase, and I don’t think that’s happening. We really don’t have anyone good enough to field a few positions without platooning. There really isn’t a good reason to believe anyone would want to trade their guys who are good enough for our guys who aren’t.
  10. The Twins don’t “find” themselves in this position. They are in this position because they made a point of drafting and filling the roster with guys who hit .200 with a little pop. They made a point of drafting/signing slow guys. They made a point of not emphasizing defense. We are here because of long term planning. THIS is the team they want. The only question is how long people on here and in the media will continue to believe the consistent failure to reach “expected” results is “bad luck “.
  11. I doubt there’s anyone his age slower. He projects as a 1b/DH. He’s destined to be average on the left side defensively and probably at 2B too. He’s also one of the Twins “if he can stay on the field “ guys. There are WAY too many of those.
  12. That applies to every player on the team and almost no one has been able to pull it off. Castro?
  13. Oh, I’m not in favor of it either. I just don’t have any confidence change is coming.
  14. I don’t see the Twin’s parting with highly touted prospects Willy-Nilly. Also, the end result would likely end in a payroll increase. I don’t see the payroll going up one penny over last year. More likely the other way. No way they will go after a SP. They will seek out some relievers who are a few years removed from an average season, and run everything else back minus the payroll casualties.
  15. To “Go full White Sox” would only require moving a couple of veterans. I don’t believe I suggested anything like that.
  16. WOW. If I had to guess or bet, I would put my money on NONE of these suggestions happening.
  17. 1b: Kiriloff shouldn’t even be in the conversation. Santana won’t be back. We don’t have anyone who is a natural here that is also a MLB hitter and defender. 2b: Julien is not a MLB hitter or defender at any position. Not sure there is anyone else who fits the bill. 3b: No one to throw out here who is a MLB Hitter and defender who can stay on the field. SS: Correa can’t stay on the field, so we need a MLB capable backup. Won’t be cheap. LF: For his underwhelming offense, I guess it’s Larnach’s to lose. CF: See SS. RF: Wallner? “but the slugger needs to show he can put together a full high-quality season in the big leagues.” Why is the bar set so high for him? Aside from Castro, no one on the team achieved it last year. C: I don’t think anyone will take Vasquez off our hands. Jeffers and that kid in AAA I guess. SP: I’d run it back minus Paddock. RP: We need 3-4 legit MLB relievers.
  18. “Obviously, the Twins need to shake up the roster…”. Is it though? They made it to the 2nd round last year. “Obviously “ the window was open, and they needed to fill some holes. Did they?
  19. He was the Twin’s MVP. Not really close. He outplayed his contract. He outplayed a $6.2M contract. Sign him for 2-3 years.
  20. Ober’s value will likely never be higher. This is what small market teams MUST do to remain competitive for division championships. Unfortunately, it’s the Twin’s turn. We can’t run the risk of Ober regressing or getting hurt. He needs to be traded this offseason, so the Twin’s can get a legitimate player to step into one of the many holes in the lineup.
  21. Really? Have you seen the books?? No one else has seen them.
