  1. See Doug Jones and Jamie Moyer. Moyer's fast all was 81 in his last season but sat in the 80's his last decade or more in baseball.
  2. Wallner has 2 half seasons of 2.2 WAR so a ceiling of 4 is possible. I think 3-3.5 is likely over 500 ABs in a season. Lewis could break out with the 5 WAR. Probably based on past power with over .900 OPS. More likely.850 cap over a full season. And 3.5 WAR Getting some decent outings from the bullpen is critical to a 90 win season.
  3. Our current team is pretty good if both Lewis and Wallner are both 25-35 HR hitters with 90+ RBIs. lee needs to be average defense and offense and if we sign another reliever or two our own can be around average . What I'm saying is they could be competitive. Cleveland and Kansas City or Detroit for that matter hasn't done much to improve over last season. I think we are close to having a shot with what is left in free agency and what we have in the minors, I think we should be patient and let the reliever who sees the opportunity to win here decide that is more important than a slightly better offer.
  4. I'm just glad Ryan is signed. Let's celebrate that for a moment and then push for management to sign a reliever or two to close out the offseason..
  5. The guy on the 1 year contract will either be replaced after the trade deadline or season by a top prospect likely a top 100 prospect. That's the long-term vision thingy we are talking about.
  6. Considering how little Falvey has to work with, He has done a good job so far plugging holes. Cartini C Bell 1B, Arcia or the guy from Boston as the backup SS, and Rogers for the pen. We need more pen but we can get it. All for around 17-18 million so far with only 7 million committed for 2027.
  7. Maybe all of these moves are designed so that by the end when they do sign IFK we are so excited and relieved that we buy millions of tickets to home games in show of support.
  8. So they were 10th in the league and can get improvement from Wallner and Lewis and a full season of Keaschal and 1B is improved. That is 4 out of 9 positions plus C is improved with Vazquez replacement is a much better hitter. Are you sure that won't move the needle to slightly above average? That is a lot of improvement and we have several prospects ready to jump in as a plan B or in case of injury..
  9. They have a good rotation and slightly above average offense. Probably in the 5-7 ranking in runs scored in the league this year.... And with another good reliever they will have an ok pen. To me they should be able to win in the 82-85 range and depending on rookies maybe a little more.
  10. Great signing 👍! I approve! Now we need 1 more major league arm and a few more minor league signings to compete for a spot and we should be ready to roll. I expect the Twins to have 2 or 3 rookies in the pen. We have too many talented pitchers vying for a rotation spot. But having a group that can keep leads when we have them can help keep the season interesting. At least above .500
  11. no one talked about the timeline that Jackson was acquired when the Twins had no budget. So that we had a backup. The Twins now have a deep lineup and bench and rotation. We have lots of options for the bullpen. I think we sign 2 solid relievers or 3 is better and we go into the season as Contenders for the division title. I am wondering if the Twins keep Jackson as the third C and insurance in case we need a back up next year.
  12. At the beginning of the offseason the Twins didn't have a budget to work with. THey needed a backup C. with not being sure of what they had to work with they went out and got a low cost backup, Alex Jackson. Then the Twins got the new minority owner approved and fixed financials a little and had the opportunity to upgrade the backup C spot. so they signed Victor Cartini. and now the Twins have options. Do they trade Jackson for a minor return? Do they trade Jeffers for a bigger return? (Tampa Bay is looking for a C and has a few good relievers we could use. maybe we trade a package deal of Larnarch and Jackson to Tampa or Jackson and Clemens or just Jeffers. Or maybe its something else. lots of options here and it reminds me of the choose your own adventure books. My money is on the Twins keeping all three Cs going into spring training and trading Jackson if no one gets hurt. The Twins prefer C to be a strong position for the team. Its always been a priority.
  13. Seems like missed opportunities for the Twins and their marketing team
  14. The Orza and Jackson moves are fine. A back up C and 7th arm in one has value. Someone who absolutely doesn't belong on the roster .... The Twins have definitely tinkered much better in years past. This is more about finding SS insurance as far as I can see.
  15. Right and having him, Varland and Theilbar had to be pretty valuable from a attendance standpoint is all I'm saying. Local boys will bring in more locals to the games
  16. I wonder how Varland could handle the closer role. Do the Twins have confidence in that? Do the Twins believe in Rojas more? I do think there is a big draw in having Minnesotans on the roster for drawing more fans....I think losing a Minnesotan off the roster vs losing a reliever was the bigger negative of the trade.
  17. I thought Kody Clemens was the new Kyle Garlick
  18. Austin Martin has a claim for an OF spot as well
  19. This is what Nick meant when he said Keaschal would lose value if moved to the OF. Gonzalez has similar batting stats with fewer stolen bases but plays OF. This he probably ranks 21 on the list.
  20. These lists are subjective and fun to compile and nitpick. I still have Buxton higher on the list because he will still be valuable when he shifts to a corner OF spot and is likely to resign here at a reasonable price if the Twins are smart enough to keep him as a one team player.. I know you don't count extension potential in these rankings but Buxton will likely stay or want to stay if we are competitive at the end of his contract. Bradley, Abel, Dasan Hill who is probably on the next list and SWR it will be key for the Twins to develop an elite rotation. Ranking these pitchers on potential ina ranking like this is not an exact science. Another fun ranking would be key player metrics for us to compete countdown. Like Buxton starting 110 games in CF and 30 at DH or Bell hitting 30 HRs and Lopez and Ryan throwing 180 innings each...... Keaschal hitting .290+ average with 15 HRs
  21. Marcus Stroman is the comp for SWR. Stroman has 8 seasons of #3 starter stats. From what I understand they both throw similar stuff. I could be wrong, but I see SWR as a longer term Ober before last season and without the injuries.
  22. Lee is not as important as others. We do need Wallner and Lewis to hit 30-40 HRs. Keaschal to hit for average and get on base. Buxton to be healthy Buxton Lee just needs to be a solid role player along with Larnarch and Bell and Jeffers in the 95-110 OPS+ range.
  23. The idea is to make sure Culpepper is prepared to succeed day 1. He has less than half a season of AA. I doubt he is ready yet. Could be but having insurance is better. Arcia is fine as a backup. Lee can go to the minors if not able to handle the starting role.
  24. Lee will start at the beginning of the season with Arcia as utility IF. You don't put Culpepper in as the utility guy. He needs to play everyday. If Lee falters and Culpepper doesn't prove ready then Arcia starts until Culpepper earns his way up. But if Lee falters and Culpepper is ready for the opportunity he will get the call. And Arcia will remain as the back up IF. Does this make sense? Seems obvious to me. The other scenario is if Lewis falters again or gets hurt and Lee slides to third so Culpepper or Arcia plays SS. Arcia is good IF insurance. I'm liking our bench better this time around.
