  1. I'm well aware of what the Tigers did. What the Tigers did was get rid of every single vet they had at the deadline because they thought they had no chance. They traded the vets that had enough value to interest other teams. Flaherty, Canha, Chafin and Carson Kelly. They Cut Gio Urshela and Shelby Miller and the last vet standing... expensive defensive wizard Javier Baez was placed on the injured list to conclude his season. They cleared the deck for young players making the minimum from the 6th ranked farm system in baseball. (Twins were 2nd Ranked in 2024). With a team of nothing but young players they went on a best in baseball run to make the playoffs, by passing our Twins as you cheered on TD for the Twins to lose because they didn't deserve the playoffs in your opinion. The Tigers young blinded by the lights talent then knocked off the Astros in the playoffs before falling to Cleveland 3 games to 2. By bringing up the Tigers... you are actually at least partially making Chia Pet's argument. Yet you are trying so hard to argue against. The Tigers in 2024 does not justify the signing of Harrison Bader for 6.25 MILLION DOLLARS. You and anyone giving you a thumbs up for this comment. Should probably step back and try to understand what Chia Pet and Nicksaviking are saying because bringing up the Tigers shows that you don't understand.
  2. Myself... I don't listen to the opinions of someone who wanted the Twins to lose last September in order to keep them out of the playoffs. That's the guy you are talking to.
  3. It's lost on me but I see it frequently on TD. People are so afraid that Helman or Martin or Keirsay will OPS .620 that they will pay 6 million for a player that they know will OPS .620.
  4. You have a point But you might be missing the most important point. Having no value at the trade deadline is not justification for keeping the player. It is the exact opposite. Having no value at the trade deadline is justification for removing the player from the clubhouse.
  5. I'm not sure why everyone is comparing Bader with Martin. I'm pretty sure that Bader doesn't knock Martin off the 26 man roster. Helman or Kiersay just got knocked off the opening day 26 man roster.
  6. There is absolutely no upside for Martin. If you give Bader his AB's.
  7. Comprehensive list of all rookies with over 100 AB's. If there were more rookies with over 100 AB's. The Answer is... Yes I could list a few more players.
  8. I'm not mad at Bader... I wasn't mad at Margot. I'm mad at whatever statistical reasoning that the Twins use... that no other team uses to the Twins degree... that causes them to sign short platoons for multi millions of dollar. I'm a system guy... I'm not a specific player guy. Our last discussions ended when I realized that you were talking about specific players. I'm not... It's the system... and yes... I knew this was coming.
  9. You and I both know... Emma's 2025 fate has been sealed. You see it... The Rally Goat sees it, Doc Bauer sees it. Other's don't. Other's seem to think that Emma is immune to this left vs left thing. The signing of Bader which is not a surprise... all but guarantees that Emma will suffer the same fate of Wallner, Larnach, Kirilloff and Julien. Once you sign the right handed guy... he will take the AB's against left handed pitchers. You paid 6 million for him to be that guy. He gets Emma's AB's against left handed pitchers. I'll bet money with anyone but the Twins front office right now.
  10. The defensive minded posters will be happy. He will be rostered as a short side handcuff to Larnach or Wallner. Martin will probably be the short side handcuff to either Larnach or Wallner. We've got our match and the process continues. Bader will also be the primary CF when Buxton gets hurt and he will get hurt. What does this mean? It means that Bader is going to face more right handed pitching than left handed pitching. Bank on it. It also means that when Emma is called up. Bader is going to face left handed pitching and Emma won't. Bank on it. It was exactly what I didn't want them to do but I knew it was exactly what they would do. 6.25 Million spent and it will all but gaurentee that we will have to spend 6 or 7 million on his replacement next year. Will the Circle... Be Unbroken. By and By Lord By and By.
  11. All my years of playing... All my years coaching... standing at 3B deciding weather to wave or stop sign runners. The decision is made based upon on where the fielder is in relation to the ball and what the fielder will have to do to get in position to throw. The time it takes to stop, turn plant and throw is the difference between out and safe. A weak armed outfielder can still throw the ball much faster than any human being can run.
  12. When I played. My decision making process in regards to taking the extra base, rarely was the strength of the arm the main consideration. It was the positioning of the fielder. If weak armed OF was near the ball or had the ball in his hands... I ain't going. If Strong armed OF wasn't near the ball or if he was heading the opposite way and had to turn his body to reset his position... I was going. Tagging on a fly ball. Yep... that's an arm decision unless it takes momentum to get to the ball. The rest of the game (most of the game) it ain't arm... it's the OF'er getting to the ball... how quickly he gets there.
  13. According to Roster Resource. The current projected Twins 26 man roster contains: 8 right handed hitters 3 left handed hitters 2 switch hitters Apparently 8 isn't enough... apparently we need 9 right handed hitters to face all that right handed pitching that comprises 75% of the arms.
  14. He played 15 innings. 6 AB's. Called up July 14... Sent back down June 24. 4 of those days were all-star break so he was in uniform for 5 games. On July 14. Kyle Farmer was slashing .189/.291/.265 - Margot was slashing .233/.296/.332
  15. Exactly my expectations. Connor Joe had 246 PA's vs RHP last year. He had 170 PA's vs LHP last year. His OPS was .670 vs Right Handed Pitching last year. Austin Martin had a .675 OPS vs RHP last year.
  16. You used Chris Colabello to make a point about the age of a prospect. I responded to your Colabello example with a post that actually COUNTS HOW MANY pre-arb players the 2015 Blue Jays had on the roster. I also pointed out the bigger contracts on the 2015 Jays Roster in an attempt to show the POSSIBILITY that the pre-arb guys helped pay some larger salaries. I also included the Blue Jays record in 2015 and I also point out that they won the AL East. And you've brought us back to here. OK... I get it... You like these Rookies... You don't like these rookies. We should probably stop.
  17. The post you are responding to, was a list of every rookie across the majors in 2024. I put them all in two categories. 1. Better than Margot in 2024. 2. Worse than Margot in 2024. I used Margot as a benchmark because we traded Noah Miller and paid him 4 million dollars and he kept his job all year long. I typed that list because another poster typed that Martin shouldn't play center and should be blocked from playing time along with 4 other players. You are responding to me... that Martin can play center. You should direct that comment to DJL44. I should consider why I spend time on this site.
  18. Did I type "ENTIRE TEAM"? If I didn't... Please don't tell me it's completely unrealistic.
  19. Yep and you can add this: Rookie disappears into the wind. People say... See... Told ya he'd never make it. Teams spends money on another aged vet. Team doesn't have money to sign a better vet and is forced to trade expensive talent for more prospects that disappear into the wind.
  20. I don't do this. I don't know what Julien is going to be in 2025. I don't assume to know what Brooks Lee is going to be 2025 or 2028. I'm not going to set odds because Lee was #1 ranked in 2023. They can bring us a championship or they can be sent down with the options they hold and they can be anything in between. I'm all about the system. The need for pre-arb talent will never stop. The need to have money to pay for other players will never stop. Limitations on what the Twins can spend will never stop regardless of who owns the team.
  21. Chris Colabello made the minimum along with 13 other pre-arb Blue Jays in 2015. With a 27th ranked Payroll. The Blue Jays finished 1st in the AL East with a 93-69 Record. Chris Colabello out performed Manual Margot. With the money not spent on those 14 pre-arb players. They were able to pay bigger contracts to Buehrle, Bautista, Tulowitski, Martin, Encarnacion and Price.
