  1. Time to dump the high priced vets and let the "kids" play......Get what you can...but unload the salaries even if only for a 6 pack...... Farmer, Margot........Santana I am either way on....and would love to see Vazquez gone...but no one is taking that contract.....guys hitting under .200 just don't belong in the majors..... Would love to see Lewis, Correa, Lee, and Miranda in the infield in the 2nd half
  2. if Margot is getting 10 million this year....that has to be the floor for Kepler....
  3. Need to move some of the old guys out and get the young guys the reps.....liking what the IF looks like Lewis, Correa, Lee, Miranda/Santana (1st/DH)......let Castro fill in for all w a start a week in the OF....
  4. The yankees are looking for a 1st baseman.....send Santana their way..... With Farmers resurgence maybe send him to the Dodgers to fill in for Mookie......then Margot.....haven't been a fan...need to find a spot for him....free up some $'s let the kids play (Miranda at 1st, Lee at 2nd, and get Wallner in the OF)....and take the $'s and go get a another Starting Pitcher for the Playoffs..... But yes the season comes down to Buxton and Lewis staying healthy and leading this team offensively and the Pitching staff holding it together....but we are due for some injuries on the Staff..1st half been way to quite...so gonna even out......
  5. how about Farmer to the Dodgers...for change....get him off the books and they need a body at SS.....
  6. ok..not really $70 mil per year......present value...I think the Dodgers are putting away like $46 million per year, + the $2mil per season....so really like $48 million per season.....a small step over the current high salaries of $43+million..........
  7. no...enough of guys hitting around the mendoza line.... don't care how many home runs he hits.....if you cannot hit .250 you better be a backup catcher (defensive Specialist) or a gold glove SS.........rest of the positions need to hit..... The Twins need to step up their payroll.....regardless of TV deal.....run at a loss for a few years until it gets sorted out.....otherwise we will slide back to the level of KC and the White Sox!!
  8. thought we would have traded one of our expiring pitchers at least for prospects.....now we will lose for nothing.....would have like to see some major league hitter come along...Gallo needs to be DFa'd...like him but can't take the K's and low BA....... Too many .200 hitters in this lineup to be anything but a first round out.....
  9. move Lewis to 2nd, put Miranda at 3rd......get them both in the lineup.....lots of other dead weight on the team that can be sent out...
  10. this one will come back to bit the Twins going forward.....we just cannot have bad contracts that go years into the future.....He's a good player but not a franchise player........
  11. still would not do 10 years.....but if he wanted to come back for 3 or 4 at a high AAV then I would say go for it....or another contract like last year......awesome...otherwise let him go somewhere else.....
  12. rather than a salary cap/mlb needs a minimum threshhold for teams to get a share of the Lux Tax payments.....make the lower teams spend up to a level.....to get free money!!
  13. Didn't like this signing..too much money for an average player...rather keep Kepler.....as bad as than has been....Probably won't be competing this year, lucky to sniff .500 ball........
  14. signing correa does no good.....he cannot pitch......until you solve that...you are just wasting money!!
  15. would be a huge mistake to lock up Correa to a long term (more than 5 years).....if he wants a shorter higher Ave....I'm ok with that....this team cannot handcuff itself with these long term deals....so few work out..... Where is he going to get the $'s which big money teams need a SS? Don't bid against yourself..... Let him walk and spend the dollars on the mound......
  16. if it's a decision of him or Miranda (at min salary) to get playing time....go w Miranda...put the 10million into the pitching staff.......like Gio, wasn't sold on him early...but had a good year..... Guys whose bats need to be in the lineup everyday: Miranda, Aarez, Kirloff, Gordon as Super Utility.......also depends what they do at Short.....

    Correa for Soto???

No way the Twins can get into that kind of contract...and if they didn't extend Soto, no way they get a large haul for him as a rental.....might recoup some..... Bigger issue no way they should extent Correa, have said all along the way the Twins win on this deal is if it is for one year and he opts out and goes somewhere else.....means he had a good year....no way he is worth 30mil/...above average ballplayer but not a superstar.....spend the payroll across a couple of pitchers......

    Sano Situation

I would be open to trading Urshela.....hasn't been what we thought we were getting....if you can get something for him I would....he won't be here next year.....so get something now and free up the roster spot.... Sano needs to adjust, no one will take his contract so let it run out and use him as a DH and PH the rest of the year....but would get all existing players in the lineup in front of him.
  19. no.....and can we also not have Sanchez and Jeffers both in the lineup.....we have enough bats (that can actually hit) to not have these guys and their feeble swings both in the lineup......was hoping for more out of Sanchez......but at least a short deal.
  20. First, editing on the article is horrible!! Next, I have said all along the shorter the Correa contract is for the Twins the better...good player, good guy.....but not 30+ Million worth of value to this team. I would ask him what he wants, being known as an organization that is player friendly, especially top players can only help. If he stays this season and we make the playoffs and give the guys some experience...that's a plus....let him opt out and leave...we had nothing in to get him., so letting him walk is no long term cost. If he wants to leave, find the best place that is agreeable....get as much as you can...and save the remaining $s on this year....
  21. we have to all hope Correa opts out for a long term contract....that means he was healthy and had a good year.....same spot as I have been with this contract all along....best for the twins if this is only a 1 year deal....the longer it goes..means he has underperformed...and we are stuck with an asset that isn't worth what he is being paid.
  22. They need to sit him down for a week to 10 days...... Last night was just one more reason.......has a terrible night at the plate, only getting on because Grossman is a subpar fielder....then in his oblivious state.....makes a terrible base running error...not once but twice.....watch the play.....going first to second.....then trying to push and go to third....this guys head is not in the game.....loads of talent..no discipline.......just want to slap him upside the head to wake him up...... But bailed out by two terrible defensive plays....lucky our division cannot play defense..... cannot have your starting 1st baseman hitting under .100........time to sit him down.
  23. To me this all comes down to Correa....if he is only here 1 yr...then that deal is a A.....if 2 yr's then a B and if by some chance he is here for all three, then we did not get value.....so a D....... Dumping Donaldson was an A......getting back relatively minor contracts but losing catching depth.......still ok with.... This team will not compete for playoffs....so hopefully a couple of these guys will have some value at the trade deadline.....play the young guys and look forward to 23 and 24...... Archer was a good dart throw, for the price worth taking the chance on the guy. Roll out the balls and lets get the season going. Let's shoot for .500 baseball......
